The Arctic Tern was still sitting on the mud flat along the North shore of the
marsh where Bob Ekblad found it. The Black-necked Stilts had moved to the
marsh on the west side of CR 61and just north of Hwy 28.

There is a greater white-fronted goose at Sand Prairie WMA. It has been in
the pond in front of the observation deck the last 3 days.

around but could not relocate. Birdy area with many Dicksissels, Sedge
Wrens, and a Black-billed Cuckoo.

I have had a Dark Eyed Junco show up 5 times today in my back yard in Lino
Lakes Minnesota, Anoka County. First time I have ever seen one in July!!

ly sat. Rich light orange brown chest and two broad rusty wing
bars. Never got good look at bill, but my initial response was, "now
that's different bird." Both birds then dove into a tree about 50
yards east of their perch.

Birded 180 marsh and 190th and 200th Sts. yesterday
and found total of four horned larks and hundreds of
starlings. Heard a couple of cowbirds. With eyes to the
sky for geese, nothing to see.

greater white-fronted geese. It was really pretty 'dead' but things can
change so rapidly. We thought that with the all-day rain on Monday the
birds that were seen on Sunday would still be around, but not so.

I re-found the juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Heron first found by Ruth
Amundson about 2:30 this afternoon. It was well-hidden about 40 yards
south of the road on the east side of the ditch.

A merlin flew into the small plum tree in hot pursuit of a chickadee. It
failed to snatch the chickadee, and when it wheeled to fly off it almost
bonked me in the head. Pretty exciting.

near the Carver and McCloud counties line... lonely shorebird...

eriods of time when the bird is silent. I know - I spent several
hours on two occasions trying for the bird before getting the bird.
