a) OsmAnd power consumption has crept up.
b) Osmand uses significantly more power when NAVIGATING (ie calculating a
route and delivering turn instructions), than when merely acting as a map
and logging track.

It does seem there is a link between the existence of an intermediate
destination, and the bizarre routing.
Fortunately in this instance I know the area, but it could be more of a

This topic could also be useful to people who use Bluetooth-enabled hearing
aids (as I do) to hear the Osmand voice prompts - So much clearer than
acoustic from phone to ears, especially when cycling. Beats the traffic
and wind noise/.
Could also be relevant to Bluetooth headphone users..
Installed "File Manager" 2.0.0.397_180123 from Play Store.
It moved the files OK.
Hoping my next trip saves itself to the correct folder.

Menu, Plugins, Trip recording, Settings, select a profile, Track storage

At bottom left of the screen, touch the "hamburger menu". (Three

In there, select "My Places".
In there, select My Favourites (if it hasn't already appeared)

IMHE -OsmAnd works well (normally) on Motorola x Force. Route calc is
sometimes a bit slow. Battery is good.
To conserve power:-
Turn off all unwanted apps, bluetooth, etc.
Reduce screen brightness if practicable.
Rely mainly on voice directions.
Use "Automatic screen on/off".
Carry a solar

FWIW - For future reference (or other users):-
Open "Dashboard". At top right of screen find the rectangle with mini
cog-wheel (settings?). Hit it. Make required selections.

Until a couple f days ago, Dashboard display included a list of recent
tracks, and permitted option to select them to show on the map.
Maybe I accidentally touched something, because that facility has now
disappeared.

I concur - I updated to OsmAnd+ 3.4.4 today. Automatic "On" is working,
but Automatic "Off" is not, despite an option for 5, seconds, 10 seconds,
etc being available and selected.
Anyone managing to make it work please say how.

turns but would not turn off except manually.

Both my devices show Shoreham West breakwater the same as you've sent.
Shoreham East looks a little different. I had attributed that to some
"minor" difference in the nature of the structures.

Very pleased to have found that it is possible to offer a range of assumed
speeds in Nautical Miles per hour, and to present a more useful route line
(ie does not obscure important map details).
But disappointed to have lost all voice prompts (turn commands) in all
travel modes.
Some progress, but a snag.
The good news - In "Boat" mode, navigation offers a range of selectable
speeds in Knots. Calculated results seem to be mathematically correct, and
length of route line is accurate on the map.
The bad news - The voice announcement which should come at the start of the
Addendum to the above of 22:27 on 13/05/2018.

In the various settings, if Nautical miles and Knots are selected, the Time
for a particular Distance and Speed is not accurate.
If I reset settings to Km and Km/Hr, the Time for a particular Distance and
speed seems to be correct.

Previous problems were caused by having not properly changed the filename.
The amended "routing" looked like "routing.xml" but more thorough
investigation showed it was "routing.xml.txt".

(Maybe that is why the developers called it "Turn screen on (if off) when
approaching a turn".)
So; Set it up. Get it going. Turn screen off (manually). Wait for the

Note, in OsmAnd the setting is carried out in a section entitled; "Turn
screen on (if off) when approaching a turn".
ie if the screen is already OFF, the feature will turn it ON for the
selected time, then turn it OFF, not the other way around.
Don't confuse this with your mobile
Try:- Menu, Settings, Navigation settings.
Select a profile, eg Car,
Scroll way down to "Turn screen on (if off).
Select from "Never", "5 seconds", etc. (my preference is 10 seconds).
Go back to the map screen.
You may want to do the same (perhaps different durations) for each profile.

car, bike, and walk profiles as a means of having them available for three

Using Osmand+ in Nautical mode with Brouter in "River" mode.
Question (1) Is there a way to reduce the assumed speed - The existing
settings seem to assume about 5 miles (statute) in 25 minutes.
Reason for question = A great many boats average half that! Journey time
and ETAs are currently
Osmand's facility for displaying which downloaded maps are/not up-to-date,
[Menu, Download maps, Local], is very useful, but IMHO an improvement would
be worthwhile.
Reasoning:-
(a) Most people don't know the names of regions/counties/provinces of
"foreign" countries.
(b) You don't

a) Any time your GPS is hunting for a signal it will not show accurate

Reducing the World Map file size sounds interesating, but she's evidently
got to have a significantly smaller version of Osmand. When I've achived
that, I'll look at map file size if necessary, and probably ask you how to
find your "howTo"!
