If you're looking for a DAISY recorder anyway, why not go for the PTR2.
With it you'd get a DAISY software, with which you can convert MP3 files to a

As much as I know, m4a is a container format. This means, that an .m4a
file can consist of one format or another. It's like the .wav extention.
