first of all it takes approx 2000mm lens to yield a full frame moon or sun on film. a 320mm zoom with a 2X will come up about 1/3 size of ideal. zoom + TC will result in very soft image and probably lots of flare. I would never attempt to use zoom +TC for anything... Get a prime 500mm or 1000m

You're absolutely right about the greater bulk and weight of a 6x7 with a 165/4. I've found that heavy cameras and lenses are better for hand held shooting and particularly for pans. The focal length is also important for pans. You want something in the range of 80 to 200 in 35mm numbers. And the

Keith, The other reason the MG doesn't get much mention is that it is the most stripped down M series camera that I know of. Isn't it the one with the stoplight in the viewfinder - green is good to shoot, red is to slow, and yellow is marginal. That's not very much viewfinder info! Easier
