I am unused to Shortcuts. A more detailed look revealed that the WOL app
has an action to send the packet, which is all I need. On first lookI
only found the option to open the app.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

Thanks to all for the advice.

I have now created an iPhone shortcut that does the following:

Opens a WOL app.
Waits a while,
Opens Material skin.

During the waiting period I can manually get the WOL app to send the
wake command.

I would really like to do without the manual action. I wonder if any app
would allow a shortcut that opens the wake-on-LAN app and automatically
sends the wake command. I'll ask this in some of the Mac forums, as it
is very specific to iPhone.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

I've just installed Material Skin on my iPhone. Looks nice. I'm
wondering if there is a clever way to do one thing I want.

My LMS runs on my Mac Mini (using Big Sur). If the Mac is asleep then
using the power button on the remote wakes up the server and connects.
If I am using the iPhone, I suppose I can use an app like Fing to wake
up the Mac, and then switch to Material Skin on Safari to control LMS.
But is there any way to avoid having to use first one app (Fing) and
then another (Safari)?

So that means I do understand what the contextual menu is.

But I don't see that option.I am running Mac OS 10.15.4 (Catalina), LMS
7.9.2, but my Squeezebox is a very old one, Squeezebox 2, I think. I can
see the Bookmarks plugin, with its options for the additional menu up

track.

I have only just discovered this bookmark. I note that it can be used to
bookmark a remote item. I take it this means that I can bookmark a BBC
program that I have been listening to using BBC iPlayer.

I plainly don't understand some of the basics of LMS or have something
set wrong.

What is the context menu? I would have guessed that it is the menu I get
when pressing the Right button while listening. But that doesn't give an
"add bookmark for current playlist" entry, only "save to favorites" and
various pieces of information about the item.

And this explains the situation.

Archive on 4 is broadcast once a week on Radio 4, but episodes from the
past appear frequently on Radio 4 Extra and can push the Radio 4 item
down the list. Also, I see that the Radio 4 listing for February 23rd on
that page is not the same as it was listed in the Radio Times, so the
item broadcast may have changed from what I was expecting and I would
not have found it.

Right, that's where I found Archive on 4, I should have known.

But the item at the top of the list is NOT the latest (February 23rd, as
the March 2nd has not been broadcast yet). The top item shows as "Some
Like It Hot". I can't recall if that was the February 16th episode.

Maybe, because it is not on the iPlayer listing, it has not appeared in
the Extras listing yet, though it has been broadcast. I'll check later
on, after another episode has been broadcast.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Archive on 4

2019-03-02 Thread danco

Archive on 4 is a BBC Radio 4 weekly series (Saturdays at 8 p.m.). At
one time it was visible in the BBC iPlayer listings. I think it's no
longer there, certainly when I looked for last week's episode it wasn't
present. I thought it might be among the podcasts shown under iPlayer
Extras, but the series wasn't there.

Is there an easy way to get it, preferably a way that gets the latest
episode (looking for the title of individual episodes would not be a
good way).

Lately I have not been able to listen comfortably to BBC on demand
streams because they keep rebuffering. Not just once or twice in a

What's causing this, what further information can I give you, and how

As far as I am aware, there are no obvious changes in my system that

Lpgitech Media Server 7.9.1/r1523349116 (because I hadn't bothered to
update recently), BBC 1Player 1.6.3, MacOS 10.14.3.

7.9.1/r1523349116, iPlayer 1.5.3). I am in the UK.

Installed BBC iPlayer Extras 2.0.0. Had some trouble due to my error.

Tried to play several programs on Radios 4 and 2 using the A-Z menus.
Found the items OK, but when I tried to play the one I wanted got the
message

Error: no items in playlist.

BBC iPlayer settings are currently DASH > HLS > MP3 > FlashAAC, they've
not been changed for ages.

What's the next thing to try?

I have Now Playing set to show Time Remaining.

As far as I can see (it's a bit difficult, as my reaction times may be

stops at three or four seconds.

There's a problem I have frequently. I have assumed it is a BBC issue,
but have decided it is time to post in case it is a problem with the

I am in the UK, and regularly use Listen Again. I find that when
listening to Radio 4 the last few seconds of most programs get cut off.
So I don't hear the credits, which is a minor issue, but also part of
the last sentence (or two) is also missing, which is annoying.

Not much point in naming a particular program, as it happens more often
than not. I don't get this issue on Radio 2 Listen Again (where programs
usually include part of the following news summary) and I don't think it
occurs on Radio 3 either.

The specific program was the CMA awards (Radio 2, Wednesday 2 p.m.),
though the same happened on a later program, but one earlier program I

I was rather surprised that iPlayer Extra and iPlayer gave different
result (Extra giving this strange message, and iPlayer running properly

Do you recommend using DASH rather than HLS? I think at one point HLS
was the preferred (or else I was having problems with DASH) and I have

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer with DASH support - test version

2016-11-03 Thread danco

I must admit to being a bit confused as to what the best settings are,
and what problems can occur. I am in the UK and always use Listen Again,
not Listen Live.

Today I got the following.

Using iPlayer. Programs seem to run for the first few seconds and then
stop.

Using iPLayer Extra (Radio 2 for Wednesday) I selected a program in the
normal way, but when I tried to play it I got a message "Competition
entries have closed" and not the program itself. This happened with
several programs, though Radio 4 worked fine.

My settings are HLS>DASH for iPlayer, and the checkbox marked for
iPlayer Extra (Select if you do not want Dash).

iPlayer is 1.4.7 and Extra is 1.9.3. Using a Mac, otherwise I might have
tried the latest version of iPlayer.

Maybe it is time to change to put DASH first rather than HLS.

And while I'm posting can I mention an issue that comes up from time to
time that seems different from the rebuffering that people experience. I
understand about the six-second chunks. It seems that occasionally the
playing gets stuck and after a chunk has been played it just goes back
to the start of the chunk, not actually playing anything but counting
down for six seconds and then back to the start of the count repeatedly.

My setting is at the maximum available (I think it is 30), which usually
works.

I have wondered if it is possible to go into the code and change it to a
larger figure, such as 60. I would rather wait for a minute than have to
restart the whole program, which is what happens at times currently.

I know that some bits of code are easy to change, for instance I have
changed the BBC iPlayer Extras default.opml to put the National Radio
Schedules at the top, but of course other items of code won't allow
simple changes.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC iPlayer oddity

2015-11-16 Thread danco

I have various problems with BBC iPlayer Listen Again streams cutting
out (stopping completely, not just rebuffering) that I am fairly sure
are due to problems at my ISP.

However, a new issue has come up in the last couple of days, using
iPlayer Extra Listen Again.

The stream will suddenly stop producing sound, and the Now Playing
display will recycle the time. That is the time remaining will show
(say) 20 minutes 45 seconds, count down to 20 minutes 40 seconds and
then go back to 20.45 and again. What's happening here, and can I do
anything about it?

I've found Listen Again hopelessly unreliable since the BBC change in
February (was that when it was), with programs just stopping in the
middle, but that does seem to be my ISP not coping with the repeated
change in URL that I gather the new chunking method uses. I am in the
UK..

I don't know if this is a pure coincidence, but when I tried Listen
Again (as with everyone else, getting nothing playing) Little Snitch
(program that blocks outgoing connections until they are authorised)
reported that Perl was trying to connect to zdnet.com and (on another
try) to quantservere.com.

Can't see why trying to play a radio stream should want a connection
there, but I wasn't knowingly doing anything else involving perl at the
time.

Sometimes Little Snitch has blocked a genuine connection (on the
macromedia port 1935) and the stream only started playing when I allowed
this.

So everything seems to be installed ok according to the instructions,

The Play HLS plugin is installed, as is ffmpeg from the site suggested.
The File types do show ffmpeg under Apple HLS.

The new version of menu.opml is installed, and seems to be working
correctly. I can get to the BBC streams.

But when I try to play something, there is no sound.

What's the next step in debugging? What logs can I turn on? Can I get
hold of a stream and test it in Terminal? If so, what's the syntax? I
tried modifying the suggestions for Linux, but things are evidently
slightly different.

Not that I need the new stuff now, as I am in the UK, and don't have a
multi-room system. But it would probably help for when the Listen Again
streams get changed.

I have had this issue for ages. No problem when BBC iPlayer is set to
WMA only, but we are losing those streams soon.

Other settings always lose the program from time to time. Usually gives
me the message rebuffierng 5% but stops at 5% and shortly gives me a
message Can't open file for ...

I have a slightly complicated setup, and I haven't been able to work out
where the problem is. Because of location (router at one end of my flat,
computer at the other, SB in between) I use Devolo dLAN devices to
connect. So there could be a problem with my network, with my internet
connection, or with Talktalk. I've never been able to tell which. The
Devolo utility shows connection of the network, my router has the
relevant lights lit, but the Network Diagnostic Utility says there is no
connection to my ISP.

AAC has to be transcoded into Flac to play on an SB2. Rebuffering could
be caused by processor load or network load. I don't think there should
be a processor problem so perhaps it is network related. What is CPU
load on Macbook when playing the stream ?

Of course, following standard behaviour, after reporting intermittent
problems, I am currently not getting them!

Do the logs show what kind of stream is being played? If so, how?

A quick current check shows a CPU load of around 10% with several
programs running but idle.Network download shows at around 30 KB/s, and
the Powerline load (or available load) at 80 Mbits/second.

I could move to a Squeezebox Touch, either as a trial or permanently, as

If I Listen Again to BBC using WMA, I usually get a good stream. But if

This wouldn't worry me, WMA is good enough for me, except that I gather

I am not sure if the problem is with my connection to my ISP, or with my

As so often happens, the problem disappears after posting about it. I
have just been listening to a Listen Again programme for two hours, with
only a couple of very short drops.

The problem could have been with my internet connection, but I have a
feeling that it was somewhere else, that something is going on that
clears up after the SB has been on (not standby) for an hour or so. And
that this has to work itself through again after each time I turn the
computer on. My normal practice is to keep the computer on for weeks at
a time, so I would not normally run into such a situation, but my recent
need to shut it down several times might have led to the issue.

I don't think your earlier explanations were clear on this. If I now
understand you correctly, there would be other situation where this
would apply. For instance, if the Mac wakes of its own accord (say, to
perform the daily tasks) it would not stay awake for the period set in
Energy Saver.
As I have also said before I think Apple have it right with ML. It is
now up to developers to use the tools properly, (And I do know about
legacy programs which will not be fixed but caffeinate and a
corresponding GUI will provide a solution for that.)

We seem to agree on this. I must have been misinterpreting you earlier,
because I thought you were arguing that such a solution was a bad
thing.

Caffeinate is fine for interactive use when the Mac is already awake,
directly, or indirectly from scripts, but to call after WOL will give us
 race conditions in my view.

I expect you are right on this. By the way, one run of your approach to
ReallyPreventStandby has worked fine, have not yet done any other runs.

Very neat idea.

I have run into one problem, that is probably the way

I listened to a program on BBC using BBC iPlayer. After a while I

till PowerSave kicked in to turn the SB off. I'll have to check with an

So, is this a simple change that we can make for ourselves, or does it
require a modified plugin? If the latter, can you post your
modification.

I would be prepared to try it, though my own solution seems to be
working for me at the moment.

I have had no problems with WOL. Maybe my answer is not subject to the
problem you report. But more likely that issue depends on the model of
Mac that one has. I am using a 2007 iMac.

I do agree that the best solution is for LMS to deal with the issue in
its own code, but I don't see that we will have to set the assertions
within LMS itself, when ReallyPreventStandby works, rather that it would
be *much* neater.

The one advantage of my approach is that it does provide a
double-clickable way of preventing sleep, whatever else is going on.
That is something I find useful. For instance, at the moment I m
expecting an instant message from a friend so like to have my Mac awake
with display awake, so as to make it easy to check if there is a
message. Power assertions would not be the way to go with
Messages/iChat, since most of the time one does not need to keep the
machine awake, it is just a personal preference. Another case where
power assertions wouldn't work is VisualHub, which still works fine but
is not being developed further, so we are stuck with it as it is.

It is a simple change to the plugin that you can make for yourself once

once again. ReallyPreventStandby still relies on polling every 60
seconds. There is an almost inevitable race condition that depends on
the precise timing of asynchronous events that leads in my testing to
the Mac occasionally going back to sleep after WOL before caffeinate has
set the power assertion. For similar reasons, it sometimes goes back to
sleep too early - ignoring the set grace period in the settings of
Really PreventStandby. I asked if others wanted to try it nevertheless
so we could get an idea of just how often this happens in practice.

Sorry but again I seem to have failed to help you understand my point.
It is not an issue with WOL in general but with WOL from a Squeezebox
when ReallyPreventStandby is polling every 60 seconds. Hopefully, other
applications that use WOL will do what is necessary themselves. The
nature of the race condition will no doubt change depending on how many
cores the processor has. I run LMS on a late 2009 Mac Mini.

It is not just a question of neatness. It is only with LMS creating and
releasing its own power assertions that we will be able to reliably
avoid the race conditions explained above.

Of course, I too would like Caffeine or something like it to work
reliably again (I have had no response from the developers). But that is
a different solution to a different problem

I felt some of your earlier posts implied that you did not like the idea
of Caffeine. It seems I was wrong. I have also written to the developer
with no reply as yet.

I understand about the possibility of a race. What I do not understand
is why, after WOL has woken up a Mac, it would ever go to sleep before
the idle period as set in Energy Saver. If it stayed awake that long,
RPS would always win the race. That's why I was suggesting trying what
happens with WOL in other situations. I note that a Google search does
reveal some issues with WOL, for instance
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3735289?start=0tstart=0.

When I have a bit of time, I'll follow your instructions on reworking
RPS, much neater than mine.

Couple of thoughts on your solution.

The -i switch should not be necessary, as the default is to prevent idle
sleep.

For debugging purposes, caffeinate -di might be good. That prevents both
display sleep and idle sleep, which makes checking easier in step 14.

I've made your changes, but currently do not have time to check the
result.

Yes I first found the issue with BBCiPlayer. But of course it also
happens when playing tracks from a local library on an external drive.

Interestingly, the latest version of Get iPlayer Automator specifically
states that on ML it prevents sleep while downloading.

As for ReallyPreventStandby, I have now followed up my earlier posts,
and have a shell script to prevent standby and one to permit standby
once the SB is idle. I haven't fully checked with Activity Monitor or
the like, but I don't think my inhibit standby script does repeatedly
spawn a process. The trick is, yo check whether a process (my Dummy
application) is already running, and to do nothing if it is.

But the bug report I am asking people to vote for goes back years.

Yes, but the problem occurred because some machines (not all, I think)
simply did not behave the way Apple stated that sleep worked. That is,
they would sleep even when there was hard drive activity, although Apple
specifically stated that hard drive activity prevented sleep.

It would have been a nice feature if Logitech/SlimDevices had worked
round this, but it was hardly a bug .

I am not sure if you mean it is an issue for Apple to sort out or an
Apple-specific issue for Logitech. My view is that Apple at last have it
right. I think it is great that my Mac Mini will at last go to sleep
reliably after the time I have set in preferences. It is each App that
knows best whether it needs to override these defaults. With the power
assertions they have at last given the tools that allow App developers
 to implement this.

I agree with you. Power assertions seems a good way to go. I wonder if
Apple just decided that hard drive activity simply did not prevent sleep
reliably enough, and decided to provide power assertions.

Sorry but this is the wrong way round. We should not need Caffeine
anymore if developers cotton on and adapt their programs for ML. I would
worry that providing such a menu bar facility would give developers a
get-out from doing so. Using caffeinate directly from the command line
gives us all we really *need* in the mean time - apart from
 convenience.

We should not need third party sleep timers or third party keep-awake
 timer kludges.

Logitech, along with other developers need to be pushed to take
advantage of power assertions under ML.

I partly agree. Certainly developers need to take advantage of power
assertions. I am not sure that it is a matter of pushing, as
developers do need time to respond to the changes in ML.

caffeinate from the command-line is, as you say, all we *need*, but a
double-clickable file (even if not a menu bar item) is *much* more
convenient. I have several programs that are still useful but are no
longer being developed, so caffeinate (via command-line or shell script)
is needed. And others where from time to time I want my computer and
display awake, so that I can see what is going on with them.

Many many thanks to those of you who have been working to put together a
workaround but I feel it needs to be sorted by Logitech.

I think you are a bit hard on Logitech. Mountain Lion introduced a new
sleep policy (hard drive activity is ignored in resetting the sleep
timer, only keyboard or mouse activity counts) that might not have made
it into the final version of ML, so it wasn't really something to
concentrate on. And ML has been out for less than a month.

Also, it is primarily an Apple issue, as any program that runs for a
long time without human interaction (large downloads, video conversion,
etc) gets caught.

If you look at the Mountain Lion section of Apple support community, the
thread help with caffeinate, you will find, as soon as I have time to
put it up, instructions on how to write your own script to keep a Mac
awake. Someone else will need to write a simple program to put this in
the menu bar, in the way that Caffeine did.

I know a fair bit about this kind of problem, because of the reverse
issue. My Mac running Snow Leopard refuses to go to sleep according to
the Energy Saver settings. That got solved by using a third party sleep
timer, but those were not reset by hard drive activity. So I had to use
Jiggler or Caffeine to keep the Mac awake when I needed to (or Really
Prevent Standby or Sever Power Control for Squeezebox use).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] OSX Mountain Lion sleep issues

2012-08-16 Thread danco

I'm getting further into things.

I'm not sure if the ps -ax bit needs = 1 or = 0. I think it may be 1
when run from the terminal but 0 when part of a shell script.

You can't use caffeinate on a Mac application, only on a Unix command.

So the caffeinate line needs to be

caffeinate -i open -W path to Waiter.app

I have seen suggested that it should be open -W -a but I don't know why
this should be. It may not apply in this case. The -W is important, as
caffeinate only stops sleep as long as open is running, and without the
-W this just opens the application and is then finished, while with -W
open remains active until the application is quit.

One can perhaps tidy up the script with a parameter to put Waiter into
the background (I think it is -g) plus a line (using osascript -e to
call an Applescript) to put Terminal into the background.

It looks to me as though Really Prevent Standby itself would work using
a suitable shell script along those lines to prevent standby rather than
the default option.

I'll be happy to test if Gordon or anyone want to work it out further,
or I might find the time to try it myself, now that I know how to use
caffeinate.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] OSX Mountain Lion sleep issues

2012-08-14 Thread danco

I haven't tested this yet, and I'm not experienced with scripting. But I
think the following or something like it would work under Server Power
Control.

1. Create a program that does very little. The Applescript

delay 10

saved as a stay-open application would do (stay open is important). Give
it a name such as Waiter (perhaps better would be something more
complicated such as MyPersonalWaiter in case Waiter is part of the name
of some other process).

2. Now create a shell script whose active content is

if [ $(ps -ax | grep -c [: print:]*Waiter) = 1 ]
 then
open -g pathtoWaiter.app
caffeinate pathtoWaiter.app
fi

where pathtoWaiter.app os the full path to the application. (I had to
put in a space between : and p else it would have come out as a smiley)

The logic is as follows

The $( ) bit counts the number of running processes containing the word
Waiter. There will always be one (that is, if these were Terminal lines,
not sure if that also applies as a shell script) because the actual grep
message provides one such process, but more than one if Waiter is
running. So the condition holds only when Waiter is not running. If
Waiter is already running nothing happens

At that point Waiter gets opened in the background and caffeinate
prevents sleep while Waiter is running.

We should then be able to use this as the shell script for
ServerPowerControl to run.

One advantage of this script is that it can be used to prevent sleep
whenever we want, not just for LMS issues.

I'll experiment further, but better coders than me might like to try
themselves.

As to your problem with your Mac not going to sleep, it's certainly

If you can't get ReallyPreventStandby to keep the system awake on its
own, and since you're using PleaseSleep, you might try configuring
PleaseSleep's force sleep unless feature to keep track of
 sleep-inhibit.

I'll experiment further. Is there any logging I could do to check
what's going on?

I'm not entirely sure if the force sleep unless works with Unix
executables rather than Mac apps, but again I can try.

However, you said you were playing an album. What happens if you play
a stream from internet radio? With an album, Energy Saver should keep
the system awake (hard drive activity), though Please Sleep ignores
that.

Am I just an old curmudgeon, or are computers becoming a whole lot less

Anyway, I can't test ReallyPreventStandby until I can get my mac to
sleep on its own. Give me a little more time here..

My Mac has never been able to sleep on its own. It is known that Energy
Saver doesn't work for some people, but there have been various
suggestions for the cause, none of which seemed to be my problem. I use
a third-party utility (Please Sleep, but there are others)) to force
sleep after the time set in Energy Saver. Server Power Control, with
Jiggler or Caffeine, than prevents sleep when my Squeezebox is playing,
and Really Prevent Standby used to work.

As for apps becoming paid, that's the developers' decision. Apple does
permit free apps on the Mac App Store, and I have several. I guess that
the developers now feel that they can charge a very small account and
make a decent amount of money. Previously it might not have been worth
their while to charge.

Is there any checking I could do?

I use a Mac (OS 10.6.6) and moved from SerberPowerControl to Really
Prevent Standby. It seemed to work OK, but I have just upgraded
Squeezebox Server to 7.5.3.

Have just tried listening with BBC iPlayer and found that my Mac went
to sleep. I can't quite recall whether I had been able to listen in
7.5.3 at all without my Mac sleeping. It was certainly OK on 7.5.1 (I
hadn't gone to 7.5.2, went straight from 7.5.1 to 7.5.3).

Not a major issue, as I can always reinstall ServerPowerControl, but it
would be good to know if this is just a one-off glitch or a real issue.

I've just tried ReallyPreventStandby on my Core 2 Duo iMac, and it seems
to be working fine.

I've only done a limited amount of checking, but I have listened to an
hour of BBC iPlayer without my machine going to standby, and with the
display sleeping. Further, the computer did go to sleep after the time
set in EnergySaver once the Squeezebox was put into standby, I wasn't
entirely sure if the latter would work as, because of some oddities in
the way EnergySaver works on my machine, I use a third party utility to
force sleep.

I think the script itself should work fine on Mac OS 10.6.

But the installation will have to be different. There's a new mechanism
for starting things up, and there may well not be a StartupItems folder
(I seem to have one left over from a 10.5 installation, and I believe
the couple of items in it do work).

Nowadays one needs a plist in either LaunchDaemons or LaunchAgents. I
don't know enough about this to work out what's needed.

Also a question of interpretation in editing the script.

One has to insert one's own user name, that's obvious.

But, where the script says

xxUserNamexx

does one replace the whole of that expression by the actual name or
should the x symbols remain, that is are they present just to attract
human attention or do they have a genuine role to play?

But I don't have a 10.6 machine to try it on. Do you know how the

If this script/task does prove to be of value to the OSX community,
then it might be worthwhile organizing a plug-in to start stop it
 from within the server.
To avoid having to cater for these variable start up mechanisms.

See Apple's article you quoted on Creating a Startup Item.

It seems to imply that you can still create a startup item, but that
launchd is preferred. And it gives further references.

The real problem is that a fresh installation of 10.6 will not contain
a StartupItems folder, so it would need to be created.

I've been playing with the script, trying using StartupItems and trying
(using Lingon) creating a launchd item.

I've almost certainly done something wrong, as I can see (from Activity
Monitor) that sleepwatcher is running, but there's no log. As I haven't
switched off the way I am currently preventing sleep, I've no idea if
the script is working.

I won't have time for a while to do much further checking.

I run Squeezebox Server at login, not boot so I'm not sure quite how it
works. Lingon is an easy way of creating the relevant launchd plist.

The thing about Jiggler and Caffeine is that they prevent sleep by
simulating mouse movement, so they keep the monitor on.

I have my computer sleep set to fifteen minutes, display sleep to five
minutes. I set Jiggler to only jiggle every fourteen minutes, so it
prevents computer sleep but lets the display sleep some of the time.

If you want to allow display sleep but disallow computer sleep, you
will need to go deeper into the system, probably somewhere along the
lines that tm suggests.

I made a script to interrogate the Squeezebox server through the CLI

Please give us the script.

You say it works pretty well. Does that mean it has minor glitches,

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2010-11-07 Thread danco

The Jiggler scripts are

#!/bin/bash
osascript -e 'tell application Jiggler to launch'

to turn it on and

#!/bin/bash
osascript -e 'tell application Jiggler to launch'

to turn it off.

These are shell scripts.

The first line I think defines what shell is being used.

osascript calls an Applescript, and the -e flag says that the line
between the two occurrences of ' is the script. For multi-line scripts
you can either use -e '...' -e '...' repeatedly, one line at a time, or
omit the -e and call a file.

I seem to remember that if you

tell application Jiggler to activate

this starts it and brings it to the front, whereas launch keeps it in
the background.

Caffeine on the Mac should be running all the time as a menu bar item
that you can click on, and the Applescripts would be

tell application Caffeine to turn on

and

tell application Caffeine to turn off

It works fine, doing what I ask it to do: After 60 minutes without

Unfortunately the plugin suspends the server in any case

I wonder if there is a solution in Ubuntu similar to what I use in Mac

program) that overrides my Mac's power management by simulating mouse
movement. And then I use SvrPower Control to run this program while my
SB is active and to turn it off when idle.

It may be that trying to make a plugin that works across different

I say this because things like chown work on files and folders, and the

Are the relevant files mentioned in the logs present in /usr/local/sbin

Should the custom commands work on the Radio?

I have gone to the Server Power Control item on my Home Page, and
selected a command. SPC reports that it will run the command in 15
seconds, and then reports that it has run the command.

But the command is not actually run on my Mac.

I take it that the automatic action on not-idle is not intended to be
carried out, and that one has to choose from the menu. Or is that
supposed to work, but just failing in the same way that the items
chosen from the menu are failing?
