hört man das Lied. Sobald aber das nächste Lied kommt hört man wieder
nichts. Es wird aber in der Visu angezeigt. Internet Radio und Lokale
Musik läuft einwandfrei. Einfach Spotify will garnicht.


Deaktiviere mal Spotty -> Ogg Wiedergabe in 
Einstellungen/Erweitert/Dateiarten. Falls das nicht hilft, dann schreibe 
entweder im Deutschsprachigen Bereich, einem aktuellen Spotty Thread in 
Egnlisch oder in einem neuen. Hänge dann bitte die ganze server.log.zip 
Datei an und gib etwas mehr Details zu den verwendeten Playern. Dank!

With both enabled, I find I can select which music to be played, stop
and start and skip tracks, alter volume, change Playlists and transfer
current music from player to player and then to the Echo Dot and even to
my iPad and back again all with voice commands.

The (short) logs I provided happened with the app open the entire time. 
I was playing a song on one player and then switched to a second player
(a grouped player including the player that was previously playing
individually). After the switch, the music stopped playing and I noticed
an error in the logs (and the original player I was playing on
disappeared from the list).  Then I stopped playback, and restarted it
again and it played on the group player, but ALL other Squeezeboxes
disappeared at that point.  I then stopped playback again and restarted
it and all the players reappeared after a minute or 2.  The Spotify app
was open the entire time this happened (a matter of 3-4 minutes total).

I think that's an issue we've seen recently where Spotify would return 
an unexpected response. Would the same happen if you left the Spotify 
app open? Or does the player only disappear once the app is closed or 
has been backgrounded for a while?

Hey, I did brief search of this thread and found some similar posts, but
nothing really popped up w/ the errors I'm seeing in the logs.  I notice
that my squeezeboxes are constantly disappearing from the Spotify
Android app (tried clearing the app's storage/cache but no success.) 
Here's an expert of what I'm seeing.  I notice that a few minutes after
the error happens, the players will show up again (guessing due to the
mentioned restart)

Sometimes it seems to occur when switching players (other times just
seemingly randomly).  I am using the group players plugin to sync a
group of players, not sure if that has any impact/negative interaction
w/ this plugin or not, but any help would be great.

In the latest Spotify (desktop) release I've noticed that volume
normalisation now has three settings.  Not sure if this is a server
side/client side implementation, but if server side, will it make its
way to Spotty?


Spotty's normalization is not being handled by Spotify, but in LMS. In 
LMS we do have three settings, too, but not all of them can be applied, 
as we often lack context about the track being played (which is required 
to eg. do album normalization).

There was some discussion about this in the librespot team. They 
hesitate whether they want to implement it. They fear some might abuse 
the open source to skip adds, resulting in librespot being banned from 
Spotify for good.

We'll see what gives. If librespot is going to support it, then spotty 
will. Otherwise it won't.

v2.4.0 comes with a first stab at this challenge: when players are
synced, the group should be announced, rather than all the individual
players.

Please not that the Spotify apps sometimes take several minutes to purge
the list of available players. There's nothing I can do about this.

players, and only announce individual players if they are not
synchronized. That would (in my case), give me one Spotify Connect

"Bar", and "Baz", with 3 helper processes.


You should be able to achieve this using the Groups plugin. Spotty 
requires the target to be a player object. Regular sync groups aren't 
such objects, but just attributes to the individual player.



I know I can disable announcing of individual players in the Spotty
settings, and that's a workaround (disable all but one of the players in
the group), but having Spotty recognize synchronized players would be an
even better solution :) Thanks!

You'd have to head over to https://developer.spotify.com and get your 
own client_id, which you then could enter in Spotty's settings.

Firs of all: if you're running the latest of everything, then you should 
be posting to the 2.3.x thread ;-). And as versions can change any 
moment, it's always good to know what exact version of the software you 
have. Eg. I updated LMS today. Yours might not be the latest after all.


Anyway...

- do you have multiple accounts configured in LMS (family subscription)?
- do you have the "only show local clients" or similar option in your 
phone's app enabled?

- do you have Connect even enabled for that player?

hello,
i'm running Spotty under max2play on RPi, all the latest software.
the Connect device shows in the SqzLite controller app, Orange Squeeze;
and only after i select the device there, does it show up elsewhere like
Spotify app itself.

i do have the following Spotty option un-checked:
Don't announce Squeezebox players running in Spotify Connect mode in
your network

it's just that i don't want to have to take that extra step of Orange
Squeeze.
upon boot, i expect to see the Connect device in Spotify app directly.

please advise...

Yes i have changed the Helper Version, but its the same

What are you running your LMS on? Would using Spotty from the SB work?

Same here. I'm using 2.3.1 in Daphile. This morning it was running fine,
but this afternoon it stops after every song :(

I've not had time to look at this, coming back to it now.  There's no
mention of max2play anywhere on my server that I can see, and I am
running 7.7.6 which seems to be the latest version under the Synology
package.

Checked LMS Settings/Plugins? You need to check the 3rd party plugin 
section, too.



Is there no guide somewhere on "how to set up spotify on LMS network"?
I've not been able to find anything so far.


Because it's really just installing the plugin like any other plugin in 
LMS. (not installing an add-on on Synology, just to make sure...)

Having trouble with playback. I get periodic stops of music during
playback. I have the most success with starting it from a browser
(open.spotify.com), selecting the device and starting playback.
Sometimes restarting the logitechmediaserver.service will fix it,
sometimes not. Sometimes I can go days without a problem. 

Hardware is a linux based HTPC using an Intel i7 4700K (i.e. not a NAS).
Have no quality issues streaming Netflix so I don't think it's a
throughput issue. Would appreciate help troubleshooting if there's
anything I should be looking at. I've looked in the logs but nothing
jumped out at me related to spotty.

The problem with the playlistman and the network issues all started


Is this a manually installed plugin? I would be surprised if that issue 
had been there for years and nobody noticed. But missing file it's 
complaining about has gone a long time ago.

I'm still trying to track down why the discovery of my devices comes and
goes at what it seems random intervals. As I've mentioned before it
almost always helps to restart the server. This time however a restart
didn't help. I'm not sure if it is of interest, but in the log to me it
seems that after the restart this time it disables discovery explicitly.


Here's what you could do: when things are working, fire up the task 
manager and take a note of the spotty.exe's PIDs. When issues start, 
repeat and compare. If the PIDs have changed, then likely it had crashed 
in between, which can obviously cause it to disappear from your phone etc.


The other thing I've seen reported before is that wiping the Spotify 
app's cache did help (on the phone, not in LMS).

... And here's yet another weird behaviour I'm having: Playing a
playlist that was started using Connect and from the Android Spotify app
(my device was obviously discovered, I now wanted to play another
playlist but when hitting the big green shuffle button (still in the
android Spotify app) my device disappears the second I hit the button.
The former playlist continues to play and if I wait 30 seconds or so,
the device is yet again discovered but trying to shuffle a new playlist
makes the device disappear. I could repeat this behaviour, as seen in
the log file, several times...

The problem with the playlistman and the network issues all started
after I upgraded LMS to 7.91. Until that everything just worked. And no
I am not using any other firewall than the one installed with windows.

The player and my phone is on the same network. If I start the spotify
application on my pc it shows up on my phone. And I am using the same
account.

I'm still trying to track down why the discovery of my devices comes and
goes at what it seems random intervals. As I've mentioned before it
almost always helps to restart the server. This time however a restart
didn't help. I'm not sure if it is of interest, but in the log to me it
seems that after the restart this time it disables discovery explicitly.


This is when trying to use the Connect feature from the Android Spotify
app on a Galaxy S8 (I did switch phone, in case it would show a
different behaviour). Running Windows 10, latest 7.9, Spotty 2.3.

Except that PlaylistMan can't be loaded, and a ton of what I would 
assume are networking related issues. Are you using any kind of 3rd 
party firewall software?


Also make sure your Spotify application is configured to be using the 
same account as you've configured in Spotty. And that you're on the same 
network.

Now its much better, I how ever had a few stopping incidents.
An something that could be an early audio-jump or just but recording.

MIS shows everything as expected, except for one track were the track
name didn't update, but playtime was ok.

But when check the log there were an enormous amount of volume changes,
I just changed volume twice...

MIS was not loaded! I was running on a "vanila" installation with only
the Spotty plugin loaded.
I was confused since I got some song info from the default screens,
which did not update correct (another story).

I have re-installed this box many times when supporting the development
of an "official" LMS packet for Qnap, QLMS.
QLMS now installs with a single click, all tweaks with SSL etc are
taking care of, really nice!

Last "official" build, with SSOTS, was from the time of LMS 7.7.2 which
we tweaked for 7.9.1...

Now I got through all plugins...  loaded and setup.

MIS shows up as beautifully as ever (just a few songs tested yet...).

I'll see Spotty is more stable now...

I don't see any useful hints there. You only use ip3 devices, no 
Boom/Touch, no software player? Would you see these issues with all players?

Jump as in Audio change.
I'm rocking on, getting close to the end of the track and suddenly next
track starts.
Quite an abrupt audio experience, that's why asking...

Memory is not much on these boxes (especially with some years down the
road, what used to be much isn't anymore).
I have 1GB RAM on the one I'm using now, I monitor it relatively often
and I'm at a rather solid 58% usage (400MB free).
I have another qnap box with 2 GB, I have similar experience their but
don't use it so much for the moment.

Yeah but I like to be able to control which versions I use. It is just
so long ago I have worked with LMS (it just works) that I totally forgot
about it. Sorry for wasting your time. I have upgraded to version 2.2.2
and it works very good. Like the way it is possible to switch between
different accounts. The only thing I can't get to work is to  be able to
control a player from my spotify app on my phone. Is there anything else
I should do besides check it on the menu? 
I can see on the server I have 2 spotty.exe running so that is working.

Yes. Im using the smart (Dynamic) setting.
But if any of the three settings are active so should volume
normalization i Spotty.
Only if set to of, should it be of in Spotty.

I'm really looking forward to this, thank you for the effort with

off switch, but any enabled state should enable it in Spotty also IMHO.


Yes, there's track gain, album gain, and smart. Alas, Spotify only 
allows for track gain. It'll be either or, not matter what the setting 
in LMS. We can fine-tune in a next step :-).

It says version 1.2.1 in LMS under the active plugin-list and also in
the install.xml file in the spotty catalog on the server.

Could you please check server.log to see whether the spotty helper had

Yes, INFO should be perfect. DEBUG is too verbose in most cases (logging 
all web API traffic, incl. data returned by Spotify's servers).

I have uploaded a new logfile with only logs from today. Iit is called
kuben72.server.log.zip. Hope it is easier to handle.


From that file I do see that Spotty is part of the repository file, and 
it's up to date. Therefore I would expect it to show up in the plugins 
page. Did you check all sections of the plugins list? You can disable my 
test.xml, which would get rid of one of the lists.

Hi Michael,

I have been using Spotty in Connect mode more frequent lately.
I must say I experience Spotty to be a bit moodier than before.

What I found moody:
-Jump to next track before really finishing the current track, this
might be Spotify or the recording but I don't think so.
-Stops playing, random stops in the middle of a track or while
switching. Starts again after pressing play in the Spotify app (iPhone
or windows app)
-After a few stops, like above, the playing track in the Music info

Pet Shop Boys is much louder.

Heh... I was wrong: It's preferring -hf over -muslhf indeed. I changed
that a few weeks ago with the following comment:

If your server is a standard Win 10 PC, start with removing the 'Spotty
Helper Application for FreeBSD 11'. You don't need that, you're not
using FreeBSD.


The spotty application is allready removed.


That would explain why it's not installed :-). I hope you meant to say 
the "Spotty Helper for FreeBSD" was removed?

Thanks for this! I spent a month trying to control my squeezeboxes with
the android spotify app but they were never listed under devices.
Clearing the cache and data in the android app solved it for me too!

If your server is a standard Win 10 PC, start with removing the 'Spotty
Helper Application for FreeBSD 11'. You don't need that, you're not

no, it's already implemented. I just didn't enable it in spotty yet.


Could you please share a playlist with high volume changes with me

I have been using your Spotty plugin ever since the previous third party
plugin (cant for the life of me remember its name right now...) stopped
working.

It has allways worked fine as a replacement, and I really like some of
the improvements, where it integrates better with the Spotify apps.

There is one functionality I miss.

Would it be possible to enable volume normalization between tracks? I
hate it with a real passion that the volume changes drastically between
numbers as it sometimes does.

The old plugin had the functionality, I really hope you can add it to
Spotty also.
