Really no different. I doubt you will find longitudinal bracing listed for
cpvc. You will have to put a short branch (same size as main) perpendicular
to the main and brace that with a lateral brace to act as your longitudinal
brace on the main.

I have to agree with Matt on this. Give the assessment of what is required to
work and meet the requirements of the standards and codes. Sadly, you can
never take liability out of the question. If you know it is wrong, you have to
be willing to sleep with that decision every night because
al, that is
jurisdiction specific. We have PE on staff and seal in jurisdictions that
require.
This has just been something that has been popping up more and more. It was
very rare in the past. We maybe calculated 1:100. Now I am seeing 3:5

Not necessarily. Remember the generic phrase: Space on the slope, calc on the

I’ve had some large demand systems….5000 gpm and more. They always had
specified (3) 2500 gpm pumps for the 5000 gpm systems. I had one 9000 gpm
system that had (4) 3000 gpm pumps. The idea was that if any one pump was
done, the system would still be maintained with adequate pumping
to use 4”,
but you will still need 4 inlets. I think that seems quite odd and would
probably try to run it as 6” as a good practice. However, I can’t see anything
requiring the size of the piping to be any minimum.

Don't forget to apply NFPA 13: (2016) 23.4.4.2.4 and 23.4.4.2.5. That can
make some of these smaller areas be a bit of an issue. The same thing is
also in the 2013 edition as well. It is 23.4.4.1.1.4 and 23.4.4.1.1.5 in
the 2013 edition.

Doing that has differing slopes and the lines would intersect. The
theoretical reduction could actually have a higher pressure at a given flow
with #2 since it is a flatter curve.

There are many ways to address this. Some AHJs want us to reduce the curve off
the top. Others want us to keep it as measured and maintain a minimum margin.

Those are useless. There is no criteria because they are not permitted. If
you need a water shield, use a listed sprinkler with water shield. If you need
a “heat collector”, you are out of luck.
