Hi Rick,
It was the file explorer sluggishness issue in Windows 10.
It wasn't a Window-eyes issue, it was a Microsoft issue. Microsoft has
addressed the file explorer issue in the later insider preview builds and the
overall responsiveness was vastly improved.
Once it goes to the general
OK Rod: I set both the combo box settings to never so never hibernate and
never sleep I guess.
Not what I really want in case I want the machine to power save if I end up
away from it for a lengthly period but if it allows me to not lose speech I

Hello Everyone
recently, I had an RNIB tech volunteer at my home. He kept
commenting that Windows Explorer was stopping. This seemed to
coincide with speech loss. He mentioned this four or five times in
half an hour and was extremely surprised to see it happening so frequently.
I have
Thanks Chris: OK, good enough.
Not a speech problem but a Microsoft performance issue and, If I remember,
addressed in Windows 10.
Now that is something concrete to hang our hats on.
Congrats to the AI team who figured that puppy out!
Thanks again for the answer.

sluggishness. I have since installed the windows insider build 547 and

Hi Rick,
I'm running Windows 10, and I also have two combo boxes, the first being how
many minutes before the display is turned off, set to ten minutes by

The second combo box is the number of minutes before the computer goes to

And I have also never heard of a demo mode that only ran for five minutes.
That is not long enough to get a demo of anything! Pam.

Hi Gayle,
Control-Alt-W won't reload WE 8.4, since that hot key will only relaunch WE
in versions later than 8.4.
With WE 8.4, you must use Control-Insert-F4, which then pops up a prompt
with the default button of Ok, requiring you to then press Enter to close
WE.
At that point, Control-Alt-W

Also, I no longer hear certain keys when they're pressed such as caps lock
