...and interestingly, much like TGUSA, series one of the mothership was
quite dry - at least by modern TG standards.

I have to say, I'm less upset about the cancellation of SGU than I was of
Stargate Atlantis. Season 1, to me, felt like a bunch of ideas that came
out in the writers' room that should have stayed pinned to a wall rather
than committed to a story. The front half of season 2, however, was
I didn't mind the fact that the BL tribute film was
essentially re-purposed here, as for the most part, the film worked. I
would have liked to see the hosts make pitstops at some of the disused GM
plants around the Detroit metro, much as the TGUK boys did in their BL film.
But otherwise,
Oprah and Discovery can both suck it. I've never been a huge fan of a la
carte cable, but seeing as how I will NEVER watch her vanity channel (and
will probably lock it out of my TiVo converter boxes, I have no interest
in paying her 6 cents a year, much less $6.

A few series ago on the UK version, the boys did a race between Bugatti
Veyron (with Jeremy at the wheel) and a light aircraft (James flying
Richard in the back, complaining most of the time). More recently, they did
the Nissan GT-R (Jeremy) vs. Japanese Public Transport (again, Richard
Lawler's breast obsession seems to have passed (at least, on-mic); they've

Actually, Eureka's dabbled with the notion of time travel a few times, going
back to their first season finale, where Henry screws with the time/space
continuum to stop Kim from being killed by the Artifact, and Jack has to go
back to stop him, risking his future with Allison. More recently,
Not exactly. While Red Dwarf has messed with the idea of time travel
(Timeslides in particular), the reset you mentioned occurred at the
beginning of series 8; the full (pre-disaster) crew was restored after the
nanobots rebuilt the ship. No time travel was involved.

Torchwood doesn't really fit the definition, because as much as Captain
Jack Harkness is a man out of time, time travel doesn't play a major role
within the action of the series. (All of Jack's time travel takes place
within Doctor Who.) There was one episode in the first series ('Captain
True enough - Captain John had a working Vortex Manipulator and took Jack
back in time to bury him alive, but again, that was a one-off.

Fully expected the 'prep' segments not to make it into the BBC broadcast.
The bulk of the Aussie version of the Ashes episode was to establish the
three new hosts, so those prep segments were really necessary to establish

The issue I've always had with SGU is the same issue I had with Star Trek:
Voyager - by virtue of putting the main cast out on the edges of space meant

his rights to spin-off payola as part of his separation. I guess it'll play

Not having watched either show (Idol in about 8 years, Glee in ever), I'm
curious - is either show posted to Hulu in its entirety? I'd think music
rights would be an utter bitch for either show.

Technically, the UK film aired first - the current series of TG airing on
BBCA actually went out over air in the UK from 6/26-7/31. The episode with
James' Land Rover film aired on 7/10.
