answer is yes if put 59 mechanism in door and take out 64 mechanism.
65 and older=link/king pin. 66 and newer=ball joint. you can use the older
framehead and beam. the tubes are more than 1 difference between them, that
is why you would need to change frame head to mount it.

I think Bill May still monitors this list. Have not heard from Marc Vellat
in a long time, and been years since Jim Anderson was on this list. Always
wondered
my friends 63 panel bus had locked up right after he turned off his
engine. upon pulling engine we found a throwout bearing clip wedging the
flywheel. reinstalled the throwout bearing with new TO clips and driving it
everyday 20 miles each way.

check to see if new fuel pump tubes are backwards. the brazilian pumps sold
now have out on bottom and in on top instead of original german setup of
bottom in and top out. if backwards it wont pump.

i have the south wind service manual
if not using a 1200 40 hp engine,i would have used 4.12-1 ring and pinion
instead of 4.37-1 stock gearing for a 61-66 beetle. but maybe you meant that
as it is 67-72 or so stock gearing.

this distributor has wrong vacuum signal for any vw carb smaller than
34pict-3 on a dual port. if you don't specify dual port when saying this is
best distributor then single port guys will remove their 30pict-1,or -2
carbs and have only mechanical as vacuum will not function.

009 non vacuum distributer is set at 30 degrees. 22degrees is built into
distributer so initial static is 8degrees advance (before top dead center.)

Does anyone
it is a 1973 only super beetle. what is 3rd digit in serial numbr = a 3
?
too late and you did not ask,but i always replace the bolts that you remove
to mount the adapter to use the super beetle only tow bar. if you remove and
reuse stock bolts instead of next grade higher they can snap off
you are reading too fast may 0f 71 would be a 72 stuper beetle. may comes
between august 1,1972 and july 31,1973 so you have a 1 9 7 3 s t u p e r b e
e t l e. see it now? 1973 is built between 8/1/1972 and 7/31/1973 may 73 is
1973 not 1972. ask your wife to read it for you. hahaha.
