Correct, BlindSquare, Ariadne, Apple Maps, and every other navigation
software that I know of that announces crossed streets relies on a
cellular data connection to get the maps in realtime. This is

I, too, have an iPhone with only WiFi connection to the internet. I
use Navigon but it won't give cross street information. I believe
that Ariadne and blind square do not load any map data to your device
except what is needed at the moment through a cell connection.
