I definitely second Sighard's recommendation of DropVox. It's the only app that

Any battery should work with any device that charges via USB. It doesn't need
to say specifically that it works with any particular device. All a battery

I'm confused. You say that the only way you see updates is by opening the app
store app and going to the updates tab. If you have automatic updates turned
off, this is the only way that you should be able to see when you've got
updates to apps.
