I am reading a novel called "Deck the Hounds" by David Rosenfelt and a
little boy asked his parents what a "town drunk" is? The parents ask him
where he heard such a thing. He tells them that he heard it on a Mayberry
TV show that has Opie in it. He said this guy Otis drinks
I have been working my brain, which doesn't take too long for me, to try to
think of a scene where we see Otis in the barber shop. I just cannot think
of a time when Otis was at Floyd's. Am I missing something?

While watching NCIS Los Angeles, Sunday night, Callen goes to the boat of

Eric, not only did Otis get arrested on Sept 23, 1941, he was also arrested in
a very early episode "Ellie Runs For City Council", for hitting his
mother-in-law in the mouth with a leg of lamb. When Otis tries to leave the
courthouse, Andy reminds him that he is under arrest.
I caught an apparent contradiction concerning Otis being arrested. On 'The

I was watching Citizens arrest on Tvland this morning. In the scene where
Otis comes out of his cell and answers the phone call from Gomer I could
swear he tells Barney who is in the other cell that Floyd's filling station
was robbed. I don't have the DVD so I can't go back and watch it again
I have often wondered about Otis' constant state of inebriation on the
weekends. I suspect that some of it might be from sniffing all those glue
fumes while at work. Mixing glue and moonshine is no laughing matter.
Mixing those fumes can be mighty dangerous.

jail, both Otis and Andy mention that today is Otis' birthday. Andy even goes

I was surprised to see our beloved Otis Campbell on The Dukes of Hazzard the
other night. He played Henry Flatt in the episode R.I.P. Henry Flatt (season
2) who conned money out of Boss Hogg and then faked his own death so he could
use the money to start a youth center in a nearby town. He

My son noticed last night in the episode where Barney

In reference to Otis disappearing, I did see Hal Smith on several
episodes of The Doris Day Show, Season 1. This season was 1968-1969.
In both episodes that I'm aware of, he played an Otis-like drunk
neighbor of Doris'. The most recent time, Doris ran out of gas in her
car, and she syphoned gas
Does anyone know what the reason is for Otis no longer being on TAGS in
season 7. They don't even have a send off for him.
