Perhaps I can slide this question under the nose of the list mum while he is
still pondering.
I run British rolling stock with hook and link couplers. The hook and links
are attached to the buffer beam of the wagon. At the NSS I had just finished a
run and was uncoupling the wagon directly behind the engine when the buffer
beam fell to the track. Had this happened during the run, the engine would have
taken off like a rocket leaving the wagons behind.
When I built the wagons I used super glue to attach the white metal buffer
beams to the wood sole bars. Obviously with time the super glue has failed.
Would I be better off using a two part epoxy? I need something very strong as
the buffer beams take the weight of the load and I can't afford to have one
fail in action.
Any suggestions from the bonding experts will be appreciated.
By the way Sir Geoff, you are facing disciplinary action. Your fireman at the
NSS failed to set the code lamps on the front of your King correctly. During
the run you were exhibiting the code for a fast passenger when they should
have been set for a fast fitted freight. I will leave Queenie to met out your
punishment!
