It was an application that contiually checks to see if you have pushed 
the 'scan' button on the front of you scanner. If so, then it will 
launch the VistaScan program and do a preview. Quite useless for the 
average user. It also is somewhat of a CPU hog. I never gave it a 
second thought until I noticed that my iTunes graphics (the level 
meters, not the visualizer) had an incredibly slow frame rate when 
there was nothing running. When I turned off Push Button, suddenly they 
were working fine.

To get rid of the beast, look in your Startup Items folder inside of 
your System Folder. Pull it out of there and trash it. It may show up 
in Extension Manager, it's been so long since I used that, that I can't 
remember if it shows Startup Items, I know Conflict Catcher does.
