In addition to getting the G3 upgrade, just go straight to Jaguar, it 
runs a lot better on the lower end machines. My G3/300 running Jaguar 
can keep perfectly with my G3/300 running 9.2.2. Heck, with Safari, web 
browsing is even faster than OS9
