Robyn, Thanks for the explanation and the cure. Extension Manager does show Start Up Items, so I should be able to get at it that way (or the old fashioned way of just opening up the System Folder --- ooohh, ahhh!) And talk about bloatware. My UMAX scanner doesn't even have a "scan" button on the front! At least I don't think it does. It's been buried under unfiled junk mail for a couple months.
