Anyone taking this position needs to demand a 3-year contract and a financial commitment from the sup't and the board - in writing - that the program will grow and not simply maintain. $300,000 is not nearly enough for a district this size. The tech budget for a district this size needs to be at the very least $1,000,000 to 1,500,000 and probably more than that.

That could also be how they got into this position. If it's a revolving door position (which is what I'm afraid of given Peoria 150's notorious political and financial situation), everyone coming in could just be maintaining.

Bad part is you need to evaluate for a year to see how they use it to know what is best for the cause! I guess you could "maintain" and just fix what is broken and not working now. Maybe thatcoukd carry them through the year.

I remember back in a former life....being a supervisor in
a factory. All my floor personnel was union....and I
wasn't of course. While I could go on and on about what
I know of that experience, I'll just say that I was less
than happy several times when I would go to do some labor
because a person was sick. The politics of that whole
situation superimposed onto the politics already
manifested for a Director who DOESN'T have to deal with
union subordinates, screams Rolaids. Does the benefit
package have some sort of comprehensive care/life
insurance for stress related illnesses, mental or
physical, that is sure to take the Director down?

I guess if that budget is all the district can do for
their technology, the new courageous soul taking on that
load of a position should be allowed to enlist the most
diligent and creative grant writer that would find some
tech funds for that budget to upgrade that heaping pile
of a collision domain. While I believe that throwing
money at something doesn't necessarily always fix
it....$300,000 a year for a tech budget of a school that
size with the problems it has.............- WOW! Isn't
that like an early/mid 90's budget?
