Blue Hills Trail update...

C onditions were fair to very good Thursday (January 24) skating on hardpack (rare icy spots) with temperatures near twenty degrees F.  Despite the limited seasonal snowfall, most trail sections have adequate base.  In many areas you can ski full out; other areas have occasional rocks and dirt spots, and you will need to pick your way.  If interested in race training, try sections 1 è 22è 33è 21, and most of the WestSideTrail.  Because of low snow conditions, use caution on downhills -- especially consider going uphill (rather than downhill) on sections 33 è34 , 21è11 è12 , 28è 29, and 2è3 .  The best path for descent from the EastSideTrail's upper level is from 20è 2.  Rock skis recommended.

Both the WestSideTrail and the EastSideTrail were rolled January 19 -- and a striding lane was set from 1 è22è33 è21 and past #21.
