Blue Hills Trail update...
Lovely morning to be outside: sunshine and 60 degrees F. After a week of
mild temperatures and rain, it's hard to believe that the woods were
again accessible today (Saturday, April
13) by skis -- using waxless striding
on base varying from bare ground to ice patches to soft corn snow
with base depths up to 4 or more inches; in sheltered areas, there
still is almost a foot of snow in the woods off the trail. Sun exposed
hills are bare, but flat areas are still covered. Bare ground is too
soft to support hiking/biking, but ok for skiking (ski-hiking).
