Basket is for distributing zope2 products in egg form. I've been working with Chris closely on it. In fact I added the support that allows people to write zope2 products without the toplevel Products namespace package with eggs for Basket. Its there where I discovered the more prominent area's that needed to be monkey patched and reused that knowledge when adding similar work to Five.
