The problem I find with audio games that doesn't exist in mainstream games is the fact there's no velocity sensitivity when pressing buttons. Meaning you can press the keys as hard or softly as you want and it won't make the slightest difference for jump distances etc. in mainstream platforming

Actually Yohandi, it's quite possible to have jumps keyed to legnth of time the key is held on a pc. one freeware graphical game I play is a remake of Turrican, which was famous for it's exploration and difficult ledge jumping, and this is very much preserved in the remake. Beware the Grue!
