No Bentley manual.... Yet.... There's probably one in the works. Meantime, go
to www.bmwtis.com for repair info and wiring diagrams on this vehicle.

Remove the link from your favourites and forget you ever saw it. ALLDATA is the
biggest waste of energy and resources since the invention of the Ford Excursion.
Nothing on their web site is accurate. It's intended purely to scare you into
paying for irrelevant information. If BMW NA says there are no open recalls on
your car, then there are none.

I have a set of staggered 10 spoke wheels on my 1997 4 dr that I'm
interested in selling. 7.5 fronts, 8.5 rears. Bit of curb rash on three of
them from PO, but otherwise straight, true and clean (to track brake crud
embedded on them). They have a set of Bridgestone 730s on them that are
about 2-3 mils above wear bars. (OK til snows are needed for any northern
drivers).

$750 plus shipping from 22180.

I'm having the same type of trouble with my '91 E34. The right side of the
driver seatback won't move, only the left. One website I found suggested
using the same 'fix' as for the electric headrests - using a short piece of
coathanger into the flexible shaft hole.

Another solution is to shorten the plastic sleeve of the flexible shaft.

My dad is finally retiring his 1991 318is with 400K miles on it. Yes it
still runs good, but it is starting to nickel and dime him to death. Of
coarse he has never changed the tranny or diff oil, and used Castrol GTX
(engine) the entire life of the car. I'm rather sad to see it go, this was
my first BMW experience that led to my addiction. Then I drove an E30 M3
when I worked at a used car lot - that was it. Like crack, I was hooked.

He is looking for the following:

E46
325 or 330
Ci, Xi, or i
Manual Transmission for choice
Automatic if it comes to that
around 30K miles, give or take

Pretty broad on the specs.

E-mail me @ [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you hear or see anything.
Thanks.

He lives in Frederick, MD.

In going through the Bentley there is not a chart which shows the
differences between the set up of the 325i and 325iS. (In this case both
1989's). There are tables showing an M sport version which I assume to be
the E30 M3.

The suspension seems stiffer on the iS.

What set up does the E30 325iS have that are not on the 325i? eg. sway
bars, springs, dampers etc. (already know about the LS diff).

I could be wrong though -- if so, I don't know if by
default the iS came with M sport suspension or if it
was an option on any E30, but I do know for sure that
the iS did have a stiffer spring setup. I also think
that the front valance was a bit different as well, in
addition to the LSD that you already know about.

I think there's more too but I can't remember it now.

kevin,

I am pretty sure there are 3 main types of springs on US E30

regular 325i
M-technic 325i / 325iS
M3

the M3 spring is not the same as the m-technic spring

the iS (M technic) springs are a couple of inches shorter (unloaded) than
the regular 325i springs and have one less coil

the M3 springs are also a couple of inches shorter, have one less coil, and
are slightly thinner wire diameter

but the parts CD shows a whole range of mix-and-match possibilities, and
different springs for manual and auto transmissions.. depending on the
year..

the springs on the 325iS are almost certainly lower and stiffer than the
325i and worth swapping over

the dampers - probably Boge on the 325i and Bilstein on the 325iS (swap 'em
over also)

sway bars are the same
325i/is 20mm front, 12mm rear
325iC 21mm front, 12mm rear
M3 19mm front, 14.5mm rear

(m3 front sway bar is smaller but mounts differently - to the strut instead
of the control arm)

front spoiler the same except for the small lip extension - the iS is
deeper.. pops off pretty easily and snaps onto the 325i. Rear trunk lid
spoiler is bolted to the trunklid.. swap over the complete trunk lid

You can't swap over the trunk... The opening is completely different.

The front spoiler can be made to fit a 325I... once you remove the
bumper and swap brackets, shocks and all.

Sorry

Trunklids are identical for every E30 coupe and sedan. Only the M3,
convertible and touring were different.

I have both a spoiler and non-spoiler lid for my E30s early and late and
they all interchange.

Cheap electronic ballast will cause all kinds of radio interference on both
AM and FM bands. I'm not sure what to look for to get a better electronic
ballast, but I failed to specify this for my garage. Now I have to put the
boom box outside the garage door to get decent reception.
