Is the ASC module any cheaper or more reliable than the DSC module?

Brett,

What component or components on the DSC module fail? Can these be
identified and sourced?

I don't know what fails in the box, probably some transistor or something
equally cheap. Identifying it and replacing it is only one issue. The other is
liability.

Bigger companies like Programa are unlikely to offer rebuilt units, just like
they don't rebuild SRS modules. Too much liability in the event of a failure.

Group,

I'm going to be running on Grand Am Cup spec Hoosiers
tomorrow and Sunday at a drivers school in an E36
coupe. This will be my first time on R-compound
tires.

Any advice on a ballpark cold tire pressure to start
at? How do R's differ from street tires in terms of
the effect of pressure changes on handling
characteristics?

Thanks,

Neil

Thanks to all that helped out.
Bentley Publishers also came through for me by
providing the missing pages. They're going to take my
defective service manual and replace it with a
complete one.

Thanks again (the missing pages proved that my ICV is
indeed half-fried, but still hanging on for a little
while more),
Pete

Where under the hood are these modules? I pulled open a box underneath the
interior air filter (pass side) and there are two large boxes in there. They
are the transmission control module, and some DME box. I didn't see any ABS
module or ASC box in there. I was told they were under the hood. Anyone
know?

The DSC control module is bolted to the side of the hydraulic unit.

The speed sensor on the transmission has nothing to do with vehicle speed. It's
for monitoring transmission slippage.

The right rear wheel speed sensor does not have anything to do with vehicle
speed.

Vehicle speed is delivered from the left rear wheel speed sensor to the
ABS/ASC/DSC control module, which in turn sends the signal to the instrument
cluster, which then feeds it out to anything else that needs it, such as engine
control unit, cruise control unit (which are the same unit in later cars), etc.

Gruppe,

I have a set of OEM 15 inch wheels with Toyo P205R60 tires on Ebay at
the moment
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7928729341&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT
if anyone's interested.

My question comes from an interested shopper. Since I don't know
anything about M3's I brought this to the collective wisdom of this
group in hopes someone here knows. Will these tires/wheels fit a 1997
M3?

Thanks in advance for your help.
