I have used Leatherique with good success. I have used their dye and related
products a number of
times. I am also a big fan of their Rejuvantor and Prestine Clean.

Leatherique ROCKS!! Used with great success!!

It is expensive and labor intensive...but you get out what you put into
it.

And you get that new car leather smell back! YEAH!

Hi All,

I have a 88 325is with dark red interior, sport seats.
All of the leather is still in tact, no rips etc. It
is getting faded and dry. I want to restore it before
it tears, etc. What products have you guys used/
recommend. I have looked at Leatherique which seems
good but I'd like to hear from someone who has done
this before, with this product or others.

Thanks in advance for your replies,

Just be careful with it, I had a very bad allergic reaction to the
Rejuvinator. It's funny, the only other thing I am allergic to is
cats, I wonder...

Nick,

Wow, I haven't posted to this board in a while.

Anyway, I've used Leatherique on several vehicles. Each time the result has
been slightly different. I attribute this mainly to two things: my level of
laziness at the time, and the ambient temperature when I was working on the car.

I also think different leathers are more or less receptive to reconditioning.
For instance, my E36 M3's Vader seats did not respond particularly well
(meaning no large improvement in the leather). We all know that the Vader
leather is very hard and not "absorbant." My '96 993's seats responded
particularly well. The Leatherique really increased the suppleness of the
leather.

IMHO, the temperature is the most important aspect of the process. Doing it in
the middle of the summer is the best - the hotter the better. Leatherique
suggests you can use a blow dryer to heat the leather, but I can't imagine it
working that well.

I used the Rejuvinator and Pristine Clean on my M5 when it was near
new, and didn't notice much difference. I guess that's not too
surprising, as there wasn't really much to "rejuvinate." And I think
very little of the Rejuvinator could penetrate the colorant on this
leather. Aren't the seats on the 993 perforated leather? I'd expect
that to be a big factor as well as the kind of "dye" used.

BTW, I read somewhere before about some leathers having an adverse
reaction to the Rejuvinator. I haven't had any problems with it, but
it would probably be prudent to test an inconspicuous area before
doing an entire vehicle if you're unsure.

Paul,
Unbolt it and leave it in the garage. You'll save weight for faster
times off the line, and if it does squeak, it will be too far away for
you to hear and be annoyed.

It's semi-integrated into the backend of the fuel rail.

Semi-integrated because you can get it off...but it's a bear!

Don't damage the cup it mounts into or it may leak. If you replace
it...GET A NEW O-RING!!!

And the fun part is it's hard to see/inspect while it's running cause
it's on the ass-end of the fuel rail!

Good luck!

Hmm good point. My bentley repair manual is in

regulator is located?

The CD43 Business CD is a plug-and-play installation in pre i-bus cars
and works very well except that it wont control the pre i-bus CD
changer.

I would add the following

Given the cost of the Business CD vs aftermarket, the new aftermarket unit
will provide better sound quality. I have listened to 2 M3's with the
Business CD and thought the only positive was the appearance which looked
factory. Features and sound quality do not compare even to a $150 CD
player. Just a data point if you are not concerned about 'looks' so to
speak. Might not matter to most as the whole system needs improvements,
but after listening to a Business CD in a stock system vs a 7 yr old JVC
cheap CD player, no comparison.

You could just get this Blaupunkt New Orleans (same one I mentioned yesterday)
from this Ebay auction (same disclaimer as always....no connection with seller,
etc, etc). Works great in my 92 325i but your results may vary.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=39756&item=5741733756&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

If link doesn't work, it's auction number 5741733756.

Phil

Blaupunkt New Orleans for tunes going on 3 yrs now in 92 E36/M50...still sounds
good....not audiophile but acceptable!

A buddy of mine just upgraded to an E46 so his old M3 is going on the block.

I have personal experience with this car and can vouch that it has
been meticulously maintained and well-modified to make a fun DE car
that is still daily-driveable.

See more details here: <http://www.missouri.edu/~ekl62a/98_M3_For_Sale.htm>

I would love to buy this car myself but I have committed to building a
new garage so it is not within my reach at current.

NHTSA recently fined a couple of custom body shops, including West Coast
Customs, featured on MTV's Pimp My Ride, for removing front air bags in
order to install video screens in steering wheels. It is illegal to remove
or disable an air bag. More Federal crackdowns are expected. NHTSA doesn't
regulate video installations, but most states, including California and New
York, prohibit video displays (except navigation systems) in view of the
driver.

Hi Nick,
I have used Leatherique to maintain my leather seats
(92 535i) for years now and I find it works great. But
I don't live in sunny sandy eggo so they have never
gotten dried out, thus I don't have experience with
that problem.

Hi All,

I have a 88 325is with dark red interior, sport
seats.
All of the leather is still in tact, no rips
etc. It
is getting faded and dry. I want to restore it
before
it tears, etc. What products have you guys used/
recommend. I have looked at Leatherique which
seems
good but I'd like to hear from someone who has
done
this before, with this product or others.
