Hi all,
I spent some more time with my 93 325ic trying to fix a rough idle/CEL
issue that I have traced to a miss on number 1 cylinder at idle only.
Ran Techron through a tank of gas (3 bottles in one tank). No change. I
tried a VentilSauber hot soak. Lots of smoke, no change. Tested the
plug and wire by switching them (one at a time) with cylinder 2. The
miss stays at cylinder 1. I pulled the injectors to have them redone at
cruzin performance at will advise if that changes things. Oddly, the
injector at cylinder 3 did not match the others, possibly indicative of
past injector issues?

Does anyone have any tpis for cleaning up the bores the injector fits
into? There is some miscellaneous carbon goo there from pulling the
injectors. Seems like cleaning it will force it back into the manifold
from whence it came. Not an issue or ??

A bud (current IRL mechanic) is going to buy a 89 E30 325 for his commuter
car. He was asking what the best source of repairs and BTDT info can be
found. I've turned him onto Brett's site and told him about the Bentley
manuals.

thanks

A Bentley and a subscription to the E30 yahoogroup list goes a long
way. :-) Of course there are a bunch of [EMAIL PROTECTED]@sses on that list
and
all they do is talk about coils and disconnecting 02 sensors.

I believe when my injectors were out, I used q-tips soaked in techron
to clean out the bores. As I recall, it worked pretty well.

Seeking recomendations for replacement rear subframe and
differential mount bushings for an E36 //M3. Possibly urethane, hard
plastic, or delrin.
The differential is out of the car and past point the of no return, so
might as well remove those next eight bolts and drop the subframe too.
Objective is to freshen up the rear suspension, snugger than stock,
but still for a street car on street tires, with parts that will not
soften up over time as the stock bushings do.
Please suggest brands, vendors, experiences and results with them, and
if you live in the SF Bay area, competent shops and what approximate
labor times/ costs to install into a subframe and diff housing that is
already off the car.
Tia,
Barry

well - Bimmerworld sells street and race versions. I can't comment on the
street version. I like the race ones. Get the diff bolt bushing while
you're at it.

Removal stock - we burned them out with a torch. Installation of the
replacements just slid in.

RennWerks did the removal. I did the install. They said it was pretty
toxic - not sure it they'll do it again ;-) You can call and ask.

I don't mean to steer this off the original question,
but on a sidenote - How do uprated bushings affect the
rear subframe mount cracking problems on these & the
E46 cars? Would stiffer bushings make the cracking
more or less likely to occur?

Thanks.

Could someone please run a carfax on WBSBK0333XEC404161?
I'm trying to document a replacement diff. The salvage title of
the car it came out of lists an unusually low mileage, which is good and
justifies the price, but the name on the title is a used car dealer
rather than an insurance company or original owner, so I would like some
extra verification of the mileage listed.
Thanks in advance,
Barry

Re-check the VIN, it's got one too many digits, and the error is in the
last 5 digits.

BMW says "special situation noted" which usually means it's been totalled.

Subject: E30 DME throws "No Vehicle speed sensor signal" code
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hi all,

I had the opportunity to have my 1990 325i scanned by a Snap-On
scan tool, which had all the available BMW chips/plugs/updates/etc., this
weekend. I forgot the code number it threw, yet it meant that the vehicle
speed sensor wasn't giving signal to the DME. The VSS is located in the diff
cover and gives signal for the speedometer, if I understand correctly.

This car has a low power, erratic performance issue. Anyone know if I should
persue this or know why/how this fault could be raised?

The speedometer works. always has.

Thanks in advance to all who spend a few minutes pondering this dilemma.

I don't think it is talking about the speedometer sensor, rather the speed
sensor on your timing cover that counts the rpm's on the crank. Crank
sensor I think?? It is a thick white wire that goes from the diagnostic
plug area to the front timing cover where it snaps in just above the crank
pulley. Perhaps there is a fault in the wire.
