And if they had released the release notes *before* the code went live, mod authors would have time to update their mods so that when the release goes live, we already have updated mods compatible with the release. Heaven forbid that Valve would release a beta so the mod authors could actually have live code to test their mods against...but that appears to be a bit of a can of worms around here for some reason.
