What I found to be the trick is leave the iMac upside down, slide the cage more or less into place, then make sure all the cables are pulled out to the side and out of the way of the path of the cage. Then slide the cage a little further in, and make sure the guide pins on the left and right are BELOW the plastic track (so this would make it when the iMac is flipped back upright, the guide pins rest on top of the plastic tracks and take the weight of the cage). Once you have the guide pins in the correct place, slide a little further, recheck your cables, and then slide almost all the way into place. It should stop sliding almost all the way in. Then reach into the opening for the CD in the front, and use your fingers to guide the CD face plate into place, while gently pushing the cage the rest of the way in. I'm not about to say it is a simple task, but it is easy enough that anyone handy with a screwdriver should be able to do it. Do enough of them, and the whole process becomes super simple, but just do one or two, and it can take a little juggling to get the cage to reseat in the correct place. I think Apple actually says to put the cage in while the iMac is lying on its screen, but I have found that the CD face plate never lines up without a little manual help, and with the iMac on its screen, that is very difficult to do. So I leave it upside down and do all the work that way instead. -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
