Hello, it’s Peter here and welcome to Wednesday’s Levy Letter. I hope you’re
well and your day is going ok.

Thank you for all your emails about the sad death of Ronnie Barker yesterday.
I’ve had quite a few. I’ll just read one, just a token. This one comes from
Dave. “I was so sorry to hear about the death of Ronnie Barker today. What a
comedian he was and he will never be equalled.” And that sort of says it all,
doesn’t it.

Tonight at 6.30pm

If you’ve been missing Snow White’s Little Helper, then he will be back tonight
at half past six and I’ll be there of course as usual with the day’s news.
BBC1, 6.30pm as normal!

Birthdays

As you know, we do birthdays now in the Levy Letter. Two today. Katherine – “I
wonder if I could have a mention in the Levy Letter. I’ll be 28 years old on
Wednesday and hoping to celebrate with a trip to the Bay Tree Owl Centre near
Spalding.” Katherine – thank you very much for that and Happy Birthday!

And this one comes from Jo and Rob McCann – “Please could you include this in
Wednesday’s Levy Letter to wish Jodie McCann a happy 8th birthday. She gets
your email every day. She must be the youngest Levy Letter reader at 8 I would
think, but we only get to see you when we visit her Granddad’s caravan in
Bridlington. But she really likes you and Paul. She waits every day for her
Levy Letter.” So there you are, 8 years old, and not only reading the Levy
Letter, but using email as well. I’ll have to be careful what I say. Jodie – a
very Happy Birthday and lots of love from Mum and Dad and from me as well. Have
a very good day.

Not Only Teachers

I mentioned on Monday that I didn’t think that teachers would be reading this
sort of thing. Well I got a surprise. Yesterday as you know, I got several
emails from people who are teachers. This one from Linda. I won’t give her
second name in case she doesn’t want it given out. “Not only teachers have
signed up for the Levy Letter, but sad old school librarians as well!” You’re
not sad Linda. We’re glad that you are there.

Also just a quick mention as well to Ann Heenan. “On the subject of house
prices mentioned in the Levy Letter today. I moved here three years ago to move
in with my boyfriend, who is now my husband. I used to live in Aylesbury, in
Buckinghamshire. The house prices there are double to what they are here. We
just recently moved to Waltham and have a four bedroom bungalow.” Ann – hello
to you.

Happiness

If being grumpy is your normal state of mind, then you may be tempted to scoff
at the claim that experts in a new field of psychology say we can overcome
natural negativity by teaching ourselves to be happy. The following key rules
using mind games, say scientists, mean that everyone can lead a fulfilling
life. Smiles, apparently release feel-good chemicals, which attract other
people. Also choose a happy profession. Hairdressers are the most content, then
the clergy, then chefs, beauticians, plumbers and mechanics: they’re the happy
professions. Volunteers – Add meaning to your life by singing in a choir or
doing some charity work and invest in friends. Keep in regular contact with
your friends. And finally, walk a mile a day! Exercise produces feelings of
euphoria. Those are your lessons in happiness today. If you’re a hairdresser,
who has quite a few friends, who sings in a choir and walks a lot, then do get
in touch. I would love to hear from you, as you are one of the h!
 appiest people.

Competition

Today, we have an exclusive Levy Letter competition, which is only available
here. It’s the chance to win two pairs of tickets to go to the opening night of
the big hit, the Jungle Book, which is about to open at the Hull New Theatre.
But this is not only to win tickets to the opening night of the show, but also
afterwards, the chance to go backstage and meet the cast as well! If you would
like to be there, then answer this question and send me an email with the
answer. The question is – Who wrote the Jungle Book? If you think you know,
then drop me a line. Send the answer to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Leave it to Levy

Don’t forget to keep those problems and issues coming in that you think we may
be able to tackle on Look North, then give me the details. Again send me an
email, with as much detail of the issue or problem that you can and also a
telephone number.

Well that’s it from me for this Wednesday. Have a good day. Join me tonight on
BBC1 at 6.30pm and there’ll be another Levy Letter tomorrow.

Bye for now

Peter
