Hello, it’s Peter here and welcome to Thursday’s Levy Letter.

Well I don’t know if you saw the programme last night, but we had Anton De Beke
on the programme. He’s the star of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One. The new
series is about to begin and his new partner is Eastenders’ actress Patsy
Palmer. Well Anton was on last night, because he’s also choreographed the stage
show of Strictly Come Dancing, which is on this week at the Hull New Theatre.
I’ll mention that again briefly, because I’ve had lots of emails telling me
what a good show it is. I’m not really surprised because it’s got a great
pedigree and also it’s hosted by Jane MacDonald, who’s a real old trouper. So
if you’re going to Strictly Come Dancing this week, then enjoy! And the new
series of Strictly Come Dancing on the telly, starts in a couple of week’s
time.

Tonight

All the day’s news on tonight’s programme, and Lisa will be with us for the
weather forecast. It’s also expected that David Davis will stand today as
leader of the Conservative Party and throw his hat in the ring. If so then we
will be looking at that. Also on the programme tonight will be Jon Culshaw. Jon
is the guy who does President Bush, he does the Prime Minister and loads of
other voices on Dead Ringers. And we saw him on the telly the other night with
Eric Sykes. Well Jon Culshaw and the whole of the Dead Ringers team are coming
to the City Hall to do a stage version of Dead Ringers and I’ll be talking to
him tonight. And what you may not realise is that Jon actually used to live in
Hull, on Anlaby Road! So Jon will be on the programme – join me if you can
tonight at 6.30pm.

Stories

Don’t forget if you’ve got a story or an issue that you think would be good to
show on the programme then do drop me a line and let me know. And we’ll try and
sort it out for the programme. You can email me direct as ever at [EMAIL
PROTECTED] And if there is a really exclusive story which ends up at the top of
our programme then there may even be a bottle of bubbles for the person who
gives us that story!

Weather

As you know, Snow White’s Little Helper is on holiday again this week – he’ll
be back next week if you’re missing him. Still people are emailing in about the
amount of holiday that he takes. I no longer thought it was funny, but people
at home apparently think otherwise. So keep those emails coming in. And I
mention weather, because once again the papers are full of the stories about
the fact that the winter is going to be so severe and that power cuts are on
the way as the Big Freeze looms, which is the headlines in one of the papers
this morning. So they really seem to have seized on this one, so we have been
warned – it’s going to be a cold winter.

Levy Letter

Obviously you’ve all seen the light and signed up for your daily Levy Letter as
have many hundreds of people. If you know someone who’d like a Levy Letter then
point them in the direction of signing up and register. All you’ve got to do is
go to one of the addresses at the bottom of this email – bbc.co.uk/humber or
/lincolnshire, click on Levy Letter then follow the instructions through. So
pass the word round if you will. And shortly we will be having another Levy
Letter competition only, so watch out for that one, one day next week.

Katie Melua

I mentioned Katie on Monday, because that was the day that her new album came
out and also her single “9 million bicycles in Beijing”. Well the good news is
that Katie has agreed to come on the programme and I shall be talking to her in
the next few days on Look North. And don’t forget that if you have a guest that
you’d really like to see on the programme and Katie is one of those people
who’ve had a lot of requests, then just drop me an email and let me know who
you’d like to see and we’ll see if we can get it fixed up.

Photographs

Now I wasn’t going to mention photographs for the Big Screen, but something
that one of the papers had done yesterday reminded me. One of the national
papers had pictures of well-known people doing their shopping in the
supermarket and it quite fascinated me. So if you’ve taken a photograph of
someone well-known, not necessary when they’re shopping, but on holiday or
anywhere and you would like to send it in, we’ll start using some of those on
the programme. So photographs of someone well-known who you’ve seen when you’ve
been out and about. It might work, it might not work, maybe no one’s got any,
but it would be worth a go.

Well that’s it from me for today. Have a good Thursday and join me tonight at
6.30pm on BBC1 and look out for your Levy Letter on Friday.

Take care

Peter
