Hello, it’s Peter here and welcome to Tuesday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day is
going well and I hope you’ll be able to join me tonight on BBC1 at 6.30pm for
all the day’s news. Also, tonight, we will be talking to Christine Hamilton.
Why? Well, you’ll be able to find out tonight at 6.30pm!

Emails

Thanks very much for a huge number of emails over these last two or three days.
You’ve certainly been really active on writing in on a variety of subjects, so
thank you very much for those. Keep them coming in and if you’ve got something
you’d like to say then you can get me direct on [EMAIL PROTECTED] Also if
you’ve got a story for me or for Look North or if you want some help for a
Leave it to Levy, then drop me a line.

Ulrika

Cynics said it would never last and it seems that their words have become very
prophetic as Ulrika Johnson announces the end of her marriage to her Mr Right
after just two years. I don’t know what it is about Ulrika, but she is just so
unlucky. I’ve been reading an article this morning – ‘why can’t Ulrika ever
hang on to a man?’ Well, the television presenter is said to be devastated
after Lance Gerrard-Wright moved out of their home. The speed of the break-up,
eighteen months after the birth of their daughter, Martha, has fuelled the
rumour mill. I remember interviewing Ulrika, about four or five years ago now,
and she said, when it comes to fellas, Peter, I’m very very unlucky! I can
certainly see what she means.

Epidurals

Women who opt for epidurals are much more likely to need medical intervention
during the birth, so says new research. Those who have the pain relieving
injection during labour have a 40% higher risk of instruments, such as forceps,
having to be used. They’re also more likely to have a longer second stage of
labour, may require drugs to stimulate contractions, experience dangerously low
blood pressure and be unable to move for a time after the birth. Experts say
that pregnant women should be made aware that choosing an epidural could put
them at greater risk of such complications during labour. I know many women
request epidurals, but maybe when they’ve read that, they’ll think twice about
it.

Catching a Cold

Well, on the subject of health, I see that catching a cold costs us on average
£30 on medicines, tissues and comfort eating each time we get the sniffles
according to a new study. Most people catch two colds a year and the bug also
accounts for a quarter of all sick days. However, coming down with a cold does
have its up-side! 20% of us find that cold-ridden, husky voices are sexy, so
says the new survey! So when you get that cold, it’s going to cost you £30 each
time and on average we get two colds a year! So says the research, and who am I
to argue.

Calendar

Just a reminder that at the end of this week, we’ll have the details of the
Look North Christmas Calendar in aid of Children In Need. I’ll be giving you
details on how you can get your own copy and where you can buy it from and how
you can send off for it. Details on that in Friday’s Levy Letter, so watch out
for that one at the end of the week.

Bonfire Night

As November the fifth approaches, a lot of people have asked me if I can
advertise their bonfires in the Levy Letter, well I don’t see why not, so if
you’ve got an organised display coming up and you would like to give me the
details of it to put in the Levy Letter then do give me the start time and
venue and we’ll try and give you a plug in the next couple of weeks.

Well, that’s all for today. Enjoy your Tuesday! Join me tonight on BBC1 at
6.30pm and look out for your Levy Letter tomorrow. And if you know of anyone
who doesn’t get a daily email from me and would like one, then get them to
click onto one of the two addresses, click on Levy Letter and follow the
instructions through.

Talk to you tomorrow.

Peter
