Hello, it’s Peter here for Wednesdays Levy Letter, hope your day is going well
and that you’ll be able to joint me tonight BBC 1 at half six. All the day’s
news and special guest tonight is the Opera Singer Katherine Jenkins. A year
ago she was teaching in a comprehensive school a year later she’s had one album
which has been at number one and her new album is out this week, it’s reckoned
that by Sunday it will be number one in the album chart. She’s on her way to
our region and I’ll be talking to Katherine tonight BBC 1 six thirty. Hope you
can join me.

Apologies to those of you who received several Levy Letters yesterday, I must
have been on overdrive after all the excitement of Halloween!

Competition

Tomorrow in the Levy Letter we’ve got a competition, that’s for Levy Letter
readers only. Win tickets to see Blood Brothers which is coming to our region
once again. Top musical, one of the most popular ever, watch out for the
competition to win tickets to go to York to see the show tomorrow.

American Football

Thanks to John Wilding for an email, he says ‘I’m a member of the new American
Football team, the Hull Hornets. Would it be possible to have a mention in the
Levy Letter please? We’re looking for new players to play for both our adult
and youth team, both of which train at the Ennerdale sports centre on Sundays.
12-3 for the juniors and 1-3 for the adults. We’ll be Humberside’s only team in
the British American football league’. John thanks very much indeed, if you’re
interested then do get along there to the Ennerdale sports centre on Sundays.

Les Dawson

I was talking about Les Dawson yesterday and saying what a lovely, genuine man
he was. I’ve had several emails backing this up with people who met Les. Just
one for you … from Chris Johnson, Chris says she went to Sheffield and met Les
Dawson, and also Harry Secombe. Chris said they were such lovely people so
warm, friendly and genuine. Nothing was any trouble and they talked to the
people like old friends which was so appreciated. They had no airs or graces.
That’s lovely isn’t it? Les Dawson and Harry Secombe that Chris met when she
went to the recording of a programme called ‘Open House’ somewhere in Sheffield.

Does my bum look big in this?

It’s something that women down the ages have always worried about of course,
the size of their derriere. Now brainy boffins have come up with the answer to
the agonising question of ‘Does my bum look big in this?’. Well the answer is
that it looks a lot smaller if you wear black than any other colour, I’m sure
that most women actually know that already, don’t need a book to tell us that.
But it’s revealed in a book that’s called ‘Does Anything Eat Wasps?’. It’s a
book of questions posed by readers of New Scientist magazine. I’ll just read
one final one from the book, ‘are dark drinks worse for hang overs?’ … well the
answer is yes because they contain more chemical compounds produced by alcohol.
The worst drinks for hang overs are, in order, brandy, red wine, rum, whiskey,
white wine then gin and vodka. That book is called, ‘Does Anything Eat Wasps?’
if you’re interested.

Birthdays

Got a couple of emails here. First from Claire O’Sullivan from the Hull school
of media technology, she says ‘I would be grateful if you could wish a very
Happy 21st Birthday to my sister Caroline O’Sullivan on Wednesday the 2nd
November. Caroline gets the Levy Letter every single day’, so Claire thank you
very much and Caroline a very Happy 21st birthday for today, have a great day.
Also another birthday mention, David Brent has emailed in asking if we’d have
some space in the Levy Letter to send some birthday wishes to his wife Diane.
David says that she’s celebrating a ‘significant’ birthday today, although she
still feels like someone half her age … I don’t think I’ve dropped him in it
there! Happy Birthday to Diane for today too, enjoy the day!

Stress

Today is actually national stress awareness day, if you didn’t already know.
What are the signs of stress? Well, skin problems, neck pain, headaches, poor
sleep patterns, constant tiredness, lack of concentration and loss of sex drive
can all be indicators that we are under stress. Also being prone to picking up
colds and bugs And the answer to beating stress … well factor down time into
your life, easier said than done … improve your diet; exercise; a brisk twenty
minute walk will help; manage your time better, decide what must be done and
what is less important.; learn relaxation techniques, something as simple as
slowly breathing in and out ten times in one session may alleviated mild
stress; maybe taking a regular hour break from your work, how on earth do you
do that? Anyway it’s national stress awareness day, I hope your day is not too
stressful.

Well, that’s it from me, have a very good day, stress free, and join me tonight
BBC 1 at six thirty, take care, bye.
