Hello, it's Peter here and welcome to Monday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day is
going well and I hope your weekend was good. Well, it doesn’t get much better
than that does it, weather wise? I was just wandering around Hull on Saturday,
sitting down at the Marina, talking to some of the boat owners and pottering
around. And it couldn’t have been any better. Yesterday, I was off down to
between Lincoln and Newark, to go to a dog show down there at the showground,
which was very enjoyable. It was a very hot day and we’re back to the start of
another week and of course more football this week, so Look North is slightly
disrupted again for its start times. But bear with us and we’ll be back to
normal again once the football is finished.

At the weekend as well, it was the sixty-fourth birthday for Sir Paul
McCartney. You’ve got to feel sorry for Paul, haven’t you, because under any
other circumstances, this would have been a big birthday for him? He’s written
one of the most played songs ever on the radio. It was never actually a hit
single, but was the Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, but it was never
a single. “When I grow older, losing my hair many years from now, will you
still need me”…etc… And of course under normal circumstances, his birthday
would be a time for celebration. His personal life, just recently, has been
full of heartbreak as the headlines said yesterday on Sunday, “Heartbreak for
Macca” and that was on his sixty-fourth birthday.

Also, do you know who else is also celebrating their birthday? He’s forty today
and that’s Action Man. Would you believe it? Action Man is forty years old!

Well, join me tonight for Look North at the later time of quarter past seven.
Tonight on the programme, we'll be reporting on the first day of the trial of
the murdered millionairess from East Yorkshire, Suzy Healey. It was a tragic
death and one that shocked a great many people in the quiet village of
Ellerker, so I’ll have the very latest from the courtroom about that.

And I'll be seeing if there's any news of the rumours surrounding Peter
Taylor's move to the Crystal Palace top spot. If there's any announcement of
the Hull City's manager's change of job, then of course we'll be there.

And do you remember our Humber Bridge painting competition? It’s for the big
anniversary of the Humber Bridge this summer and I’ll be revealing the winner
tonight. All of the short listed artists’ works are on show at the moment at
the Ropewalk in Barton. Well, worth a look if you’re in the area. All of the
short listed paintings are going on tour as well around the region and they’re
making a stop at the BBC Open Centre in Hull at some point. Of course, I’ll
give you details about that nearer the time, but in the meantime if you want to
know where these paintings are, then have a look at our two websites, either
bbc.co.uk/humber or bbc.co.uk/Lincolnshire. They’re travelling across our
region in the coming months and they’re well worth a look. Congratulations to
everyone, who took part and find out tonight who the winner is!

So I hope you can join me tonight for Look North at the later time of quarter
past seven. Tonight, Lisa Gallagher will have the weather forecast. So all you
Lisa fans, look out for her tonight!

Chat Show Hosts Beware

Yes, those, who regularly interview people (and I suppose this is applicable to
me too!), be warned. Emu is back! Sadly Rod Hull, of course, died a few years
ago after he fell off a roof whilst adjusting his television aerial. Since
then, the dreaded bird has been silent. Well, the bird is always silent, but
actually the bird isn’t going to be silent any more, because Emu is coming back
and Rod Hull’s son is bringing Emu back on stage and has also been given a TV
series as well. This time Emu will be operated by strings and Emu will make
noises. He won’t actually talk, but he will make noises. Rod Hull’s son, Toby,
is his keeper now. Rod Hull achieved fame in the 1970s with the crazy bird, who
once attacked Michael Parkinson and Rod died in 1999. Now his son, Toby, is
taking up the reins and will have his own TV show. He’s hoping to get back onto
Parky too! So look out for Emu! He’s back!

Children

Well, by the age of ten, children are now deciding what to wear, how to spend
their pocket money and packing their own school lunches. Youngsters have become
more independent partly because of the busy lifestyles of their parents,
according to a new study. Why we needed a new study to tell us this, I do not
know! But ten year olds of today can do a lot more for themselves, surprise,
surprise, then when I was a young boy. Also, the other day, someone was telling
me that their daughter had shown Mum how to get something to work on the
computer, rather than the other way around. It’s found that working parents are
often the most lenient. They let their children stay up later to spend more
time with them. And in the rush to get ready for work in the morning, they let
their children pack their own lunch boxes, which can occasionally lead to bad
nutritional choices. So there you are. Kids of ten are doing more for
themselves than they were a few years ago. A surprise? Well, not r!
 eally.

Cosmic Ordering

Now I was talking about this a few weeks back. Noel Edmonds had given this
really weird interview with Parkinson and he came out with the fact that he
puts all his recent good luck down to Cosmic Ordering. He sat down and ordered
what he wanted and along it all came. I was fascinated at the time and would
like to read that book all about it. Well, better than that now, Noel Edmonds
has signed a five hundred thousand pound deal to write a book. It’s a new age
book about how the power of the cosmos has helped to revive his career. Noel,
who is fifty-seven, says his dreams came true following the ideas of a German
writer, Barbel Mohr, who devised the notion of asking the universe to grant
wishes. After reading a book on the Cosmic Ordering service, Noel Edmonds said
he asked the cosmos for a new challenge following a painful break up of his
nineteen year old marriage to his wife, Helen. He believes that the challenge
came in the form of the new hit Channel 4 show, Deal Or No De!
al, which has renewed his fortunes, after six years away from television. And
now he is going to write a book all about Cosmic Ordering and it’s due to be
released on July 27th. It’s titled Positively Happy and the book will show
readers how to banish negativity. So there you are. If you want to have a bit
of Cosmic Ordering, then the book will be out in July.

Well, I hope you’ve ordered a good day today and I hope the weather improves.
Although I think we’re in for some patchy rain today and thunder storms. That’s
what Paul said isn’t it? Anyway, I hope you can join me tonight for Look North
and look out for your Levy Letter again tomorrow.

To all of you, who signed up to the Levy Letter over the weekend, then thank
you very much and welcome. If you want to get in touch with me then of course
you can at any time to [EMAIL PROTECTED] And if there’s anyone else, you know
who’s not signed up to the Levy Letter and they would like one, then point them
in the direction of either one of the two addresses at the bottom of the page,
click on Levy Letter and sign up.

Take care and see you tonight on the programme.

Peter
