Hello, it’s Peter here and welcome to Monday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day is
going well and I hope you’ll be able to join me tonight. Was your weekend good?
If you had something planned, then I hope it went well. If you can, then I hope
you’ll be able to join me for Look North on BBC One at 6.30pm. I’ll have all
the day’s news, including the latest on the murder investigation of a
twenty-nine year old mum of one, who was found strangled to death in a ditch.
I'll be talking to the Chief Superintendent in charge of the case and of
course, Look North will have the very latest on any developments.

Plus Look North will be on an estate in Bransholme where parents are up in
arms, because the council have stopped their children playing football on a
patch of grass near their homes. However, residents have CCTV evidence of some
of the children making the lives of local residents, hell. I’ll have the full
story from all sides of the story tonight on the programme.

Also on the programme tonight, I'll meet the fifteen year old with cerebral
palsy, who hopes to be the youngest horse rider at the 2008 Beijing
Paralympics. It’s a fantastic story and I wish him well.

Paul will have the forecast tonight. And I'm sure he will be very difficult and
smug today. Yesterday he was inaugurated as Mayor of Wetwang. Our cameras were
there in the village yesterday to see him in all his finery and I'm sure he'll
be boasting about his special day with me on the programme tonight.

Palace

I don’t know if you saw the show last night from Buckingham Palace, but my
word, what a star studded line-up it was. I didn’t see the whole show, because
I suppose it was aimed at children really, but it was an amazing line-up to
celebrate the Queen’s eightieth birthday. And all the actors and artists were
working really hard to give the kids a good time. Of course, there were some
children from our region who were there as well. It was very lucky that the
weather stayed dry in London yesterday. Anyway, that was last night. I hope all
the children enjoyed themselves!

And just a reminder as well, that as we’re talking of events happening outside,
then it’s getting closer to the switching on of the Mablethorpe lights. It’s
one of the biggest events of the East Coast and if you can make it down to the
coast, then Paul and I will be there. It’s a Sunday night in July and there
will be full details coming up in the next couple of days.

Top Of The Pops

You’ve probably heard about this and read about it at the end of last week.
Many people from my age group will be disappointed to see the demise of Top of
the Pops and the end of an era. What do you think? Are you sad to see it go?

Also of course, Enid Blyton! – I read her books at school and they’ve now been
updated, but the latest books have got some word changes! Biscuit has been
replaced with cookie to appease the American market. Queer has been changed to
odd and the Dame Slap has been replaced with Dame Snap! Those are the latest
Enid Blyton books, which have recently been republished with a few alterations!

Ancestry

Tracing ancestry seems to be a big thing at the moment. I know a couple of
friends of mine in the office, who are heavily into that and I can see that
Hillary Clinton has just started to trace hers. She’s just found out that the
roots of her family are from the North East of England. They’re from County
Durham. But it’s big business at the moment and that programme, called ‘Who Do
You Think You Are’ on the television, has generated a lot of interest in that.

Emails

Don’t forget if you want to drop me a line, then get in touch. If you’ve got a
story that you think I should know about or a problem that you think I could
tackle on your behalf on the programme, then get in touch. It’s [EMAIL
PROTECTED] Send me the details and also a contact telephone number as well. And
if you’ve got some nice photographs for the Big Screen, then let me have a look
at them too!

Noel Edmonds

I mentioned last week that Noel Edmonds is now suffering from RSI through
picking up the phone so many times on his TV show, Deal Or No Deal. There’s an
email from John, which is quite wittily written – “I’ve got RSI now from
getting up to turn the television off every time Noel Edmonds comes on!” Ouch!

HD

HD, for those of you who don’t know, stands for High Definition Television. I
got my first demonstration of this in a restaurant, funnily enough, in Hessle
on Friday night. It’s amazing quality, watching the football on high
definition. I think it’s a bit of an experiment at the moment, but if you
haven’t caught a glimpse of high definition TV, then it’s well worth it.

Anneka Rice

Can you believe this? There were some photos in the paper this weekend. Anneka
Rice is forty-seven and she looks unbelievable. She looks so good. I used to be
a huge fan of Treasure Hunt and also Challenge Anneka, where she would jump out
of helicopters and do all sorts. A programme like that of course today, with
all the health and safety regulations there are in TV and in life in general
too, wouldn’t be allowed. But what great programmes they were. Anneka’s private
life has taken a bit of a battering. But she’s coming back with a daytime TV
programme, so we wish her well. I got the chance to meet Anneka once when she
came into the radio studio at the BBC when I was there, for help with one of
her challenges. She was a really lovely lady, so I hope she does well with her
new show.

Wimbledon

Wimbledon has started today. The competition has got a very strong code of
conduct these days. You have to wear white and decent clothing. There’s to be
no cleavage, no loose fitting outfits, which can show underwear. They’re really
cracking down on the whole dress sense of the tennis players. Nothing is to be
too outrageous! No short skirts, no loose clothing and no cleavage. All the
fun’s gone out of Wimbledon hasn’t it?!?

Well, that's it from me for today. Thanks very much indeed for being there and
have a very good day. I hope you can join me tonight on BBC One at 6.30pm.

Take care,

Peter
