Hello there, it’s Peter here and welcome to Tuesday’s Levy Letter. I hope your
day is going well. Wow, weren’t they amazing storms yesterday afternoon? I
expect you saw all those amazing pictures of flooding in our area and of the
lightning over the River Humber. I always love a good storm, but unfortunately
there were many problems for people in Market Weighton. There was a great deal
of flooding in their town, so I hope the clean up operation is going well for
them today. Our thoughts are with them. Well, it looks like the rain has
stopped now, but of course I’ll have the latest weather forecast details from
Lisa tonight.

Tonight on the programme, I'll have the details of the row that's broken out
over proposals for a playing field in Willerby. Local parents say this play
area is important for their children and the local community, but Councillors
have blocked the proposals saying it will only encourage anti social behaviour
in a public area. I’ll have the latest on that.

And I'll have more on the Skegness school, which already has nine sets of twins
and is expecting triplets to the school in September. Isn’t that incredible?
Well, this is a national school record and I'll have more on that one.

We'll be at the grand opening of Alford Manor House. After intensive renovation
and restoration, the grand old house is now open again and we'll be there to
see it. It’s a beautiful building, so if you can take a look, then it’s well
worth it.

I'll be taking a look at a special copy of the Da Vinci Code book, which is
expected to cost thousands on an internet auction site after being signed by
all the cast of the blockbuster film. And I'll have the latest on the increased
speculation that Hull City manager, Peter Taylor, will be moving to the Crystal
Palace top spot. If there’s any definite news, then of course, we’ll be there
for it.

And we'll be live at the massive Bon Jovi gig here in Hull at the KC Stadium.
So a busy show, you’ll be able to get all the atmosphere of that huge concert
tonight, so I hope you can join me then. If you’re going to see Bon Jovi
tonight, then I hope you enjoy it. I’m sure you will! Of course, there’s more
football today, so Look North will be on at the later time of a quarter past
seven. See you there!

Stress

Are you stressed at work? Well, men who are stressed at work, drink to forget
it apparently. Stress at work is driving growing numbers of men to drink, a
report said that was out yesterday. More than a third admit that they resorted
to alcohol to switch off from thinking about work, while one in five have
experienced aggressive outbursts as a result of stress. The study, which was
commissioned by a health supplement manufacturer, reveals that only 4% of men
claim not to suffer any stress at work at all. I’m sure I am stressed at work
at times, but I’m certainly not turning to the bottle just yet!

Diabetes

Well, I’m not sure if you’re aware or not, but it’s diabetes week this week.
Lots of people in our area suffer from diabetes and it can affect people of any
age. Well, I have to say that it can be very difficult for people, who don’t
have diabetes, to spot the early warning signs when people are getting poorly.
So this week is all about learning about diabetes and finding out where to get
information and help. Tomorrow, I’ll be going to an Awareness Day at the
Brocklehurst Building on Anlaby Road, where the Hull Diabetes Team will be
there. The day starts at 2pm until about 7.30pm and there’ll be lots of
information available to you. So I hope you can go along and get some
information about it. I’ll be popping round after the lunch time programme at
about 2pm, so I hope to see you then! If you go, then I hope you find it
interesting and helpful.

Carrots

Well, Jonathan Parker and Marcus Heald from BBC Radio Humberside’s Westenders
programme are still looking for actors and actresses for their musical. They’re
putting on the musical, Carrots – the story of Dr Barnado and the start of the
children’s charity. Well, they want to set up auditions soon for parts and are
looking for children from Year 6 right up to leaving school at the age of
eighteen. So if you’re interested in being a part of this production, then get
in touch. It’s going to be put on at Hull New Theatre. So you’ll have the
chance to perform in one of our best theatres in the region. It’ll be a great
experience and a chance to raise a lot of money for Children In Need. So all
you have to do to get more information and register your interest is to ring
01482 314449. And these auditions are open to anyone from the final year of
Junior School, that’s anyone in Year 6, up to leaving school at either sixteen
or eighteen. So get in touch!

2:16

If you like downing tools, packing in work for the day, well for most people
that physical slump happens at precisely sixteen minutes past two, according to
new research. The study of workers and the unemployed, aged between sixteen and
over, found this was the time when people hit rock bottom. Those responding to
the survey had the least enthusiasm for doing tasks at this point than at any
other time of the day. The second lowest point occurred at 11:37 in the
morning. So the worst point when we feel down with no enthusiasm for work is at
2:16 and the second worst is at 11:37!

Don’t forget drop me an email if you’ve got an idea for the programme. Or if

Peter
