Hello, it's Peter here. Welcome to Thursday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day's
going well and you'll be able to join me tonight on BBC One at half past six.
We'll have all the day's news as usual. We'll be finding out if Humber bridge
tolls really could be a thing of the past after new plans announced today. A
lot of people will be waiting with their fingers crossed for that one.

We'll be investigating government reports highlighting possible racial tensions
in towns with an influx of migrant workers.

New developments are expected at Boston United today as things continue to look
bad for the club. We’ll have the very latest news.

Twenty five years after the Falklands war, we'll be speaking to the civilian
North Sea ferry workers who were caught up in the conflict.

We'll take a look at the high profile fixtures for Scunthorpe United this year
as they move into the Championship. It’s a big year for them.

And how do you dry your washing? We'll be finding out how the peg and washing
line come out against the tumble dryer.

That’s all coming up at the usual time of half past six tonight on BBC One, and
it’s a busy day for me, I’m the guest of honour tonight at the Defence School
of Transport, their Beating Retreat ceremony at Leconfield. I’m looking forward
to that very much.
I’m sad today about the forecast. It’s pretty grim, and it looks like it all
day, but of course the details will be coming up from Paul at half past one and
half past six.

The Show

Well it’s the show that’s dominated our lives, or some people’s lives, for the
last twelve weeks. I don’t know what I’m going to do on a Wednesday night any
more. It’s The Apprentice of course, and the answer? Well she’s fired, he’s
hired basically. Kristina, although the favourite, didn’t get the job. It went
to Simon Ambrose, he won the job as Sir Alan Sugar’s apprentice. So we had a
boy as the first winner, then it was Michelle Dewberry or course from Hull last
year, and now Simon Ambrose. We wish him well, and let’s hope that it’s not too
long before the series comes back.
The papers this morning, and many people in the office as well were saying that
31 year old Katie Hopkins from Exeter is probably been the star of the show and
will probably be the one who’s remembered, and will get more offers of
interviews. We’ll have to wait and see, but that’s The Apprentice come to a
close for this series.

Emails

Thanks for the emails on all sorts of subjects, keep them coming in. If you’ve
got a story you think we should know about, let us know. We find out about many
stories from viewers, we had one last night on the programme about the guy who
was getting all the TV license bills through his letterbox. Well he got in
touch with us and told us about that. The next thing, it was on the TV. So if
you’ve got something you think we should know about, send it to [EMAIL
PROTECTED] It’s the same address for pictures too, we’ve probably had enough
animal pictures now. We’d like to get back to some views. If you’ve got
something you think we should see then send it to me.

High Heels

The dangers of high heels have long been confined to bunions or falling over on
an uneven stretch of pavement, but now it seems those stilettos lurking at the
back of your wardrobe really could be killers. Up to 12 million women are
putting lives at risk by driving in inappropriate footwear. Stilettos for
female motorists, and flip flops are bad because they can get stuck between the
pedals. The best advice is to slip them off and put something sensible on when
you’re driving a car. There’s a message for women who drive in flip flops, and
high heels.

Burglary

We all shell out money for home insurance, building insurance, and contents
insurance. Figures out today show that a third of Britons have been burgled,
and more than half of the victims of break ins suffer trauma afterwards
according to a new survey out today. It’s incredible to think that a third of
people in this country have been burgled. That’s the new figures.

Events

Don’t forget if you’ve got an event coming up that is for a good cause and you
want to drop me a line, let me know about it and I might give you a mention in
the Levy Letter. This weekend there are loads of things on, there’s the Race
for Life with ladies running at Sewerby Hall in Bridlington. The week after,
there’s the Humber half marathon. I and Paul will be there to start that one
off. Down at the Humber bridge, the Humber half marathon is on a week on Sunday
if you can make it down.

That’s it from me, enjoy your Thursday afternoon and join me tonight on BBC One
at half past six. Bye for now.

Peter
