Hello and welcome to Tuesday's Levy Letter, hope your day is going well. Coming
up on the programme this evening we'll be talking to the health trust that
banned operations for overweight people. They've now been forced into a U-turn,
but how many people have lost out in the mean time?

We have the big plastic bag debate. Would you support a tax on carriers if it
was helping the environment?

And we look at the final preparations for the Lincolnshire show ahead of it's
opening tomorrow. We’ve got a big special broadcast live from the show
tomorrow, so look forward to that. We’ll also have the detailed weather
forecast as usual tonight, that’s all coming up on BBC One at six thirty as
usual.

Humber Half Marathon

If you’re around this Sunday morning then it’s the Humber Half marathon and fun
run starting at 9.30 at the Humber Bridge. Paul and I will be there to start
the race off if you can join
us. All the money raised of course is for charity, hope to see you there on
Sunday and another added attraction is Andy Comfort will be there doing his
Radio Humberside show as well. It’s going to be a great day and a great event.

Starlight

Well I was one of the several hundred people on Friday and Saturday that didn’t
get to see Starlight Express because the theatre was flooded. Well from last
night all is sorted and the show is up and running again, if you’re going then
enjoy. By the way Grimsby, Hull and Lincoln have all had some great shows on
just recently with more on the way.

Passports

If you have a holiday coming up abroad make sure that you have your passport of
course and I’ve just read that the cost of a passport is going up to £72… I’m
sure if my memory serves me right the first time I got a passport it was £7.50.
I may be wrong. I can remember exactly what it was for, I went on a press trip
on the first ever jet to fly out of Yorkshire, It was 1976 and it was Leeds
Bradford Airport and it was a new type of Boeing 737 operated by Britannia
Airways. It was the first time as well that I had ever flown and it was to
Palma in Majorca… happy memories!

Pictures

Don’t forget if you have a photograph that you’re pleased with that you think
might be a possible for the show then send it to me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or
send me a copy in the post to Queen’s Court, Queen’s gardens, Hull, HU1 3RH.

Conductor

There’s just time for a quick mention here of the Barrow Concert brass band. I
had an email from them asking for help. “We are a brass band in desperate need
of a new conductor. We are a third section band and practice Tuesday and Friday
evenings, 19.30 till 21.30. With concerts coming up over the summer it is vital
that we get someone to conduct us quickly. We would also welcome any brass
players who are looking for a band to play with. We are a friendly band who
have a lot of fun, but also do some serious playing including some contesting.”
So there we are, they are a third section band, not sure what that is, but they
need a new conductor. If you can help them, these are the contact details,
07745388258 or email at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Well that’s it from me today, join me at 6.30 for tonight’s Look North.
