Hello, it’s Peter here and welcome to Tuesday’s Levy Letter. It’s the day after
the rain, a day that will live in memory for a long time as one of the worst
floods ever in this region. I hope you’re well despite the extreme weather and
don’t miss Look North today, we’ll be right out across the region with all the
latest after yesterday's flooding. That’s dominating the news today of course.
So many people have been affected, and dozens more people have been evacuated
this morning to escape the water. It’s done a huge amount of damage, and lots
of schools and businesses will be lying empty today.

We're spending the day with the emergency services as they struggle to cope.
They have been stretched to the limit of course.

And we'll be asking what can be done to prevent the same chaos happening again
in the future. There are a lot of questions being asked, as there always are
after events like these. And of course we’ll have the all important weather
forecast today, all eyes will be on that. It’s a big programme tonight, don’t
miss it on BBC One at half past six.

Floods

Well yesterday was one of the worst days of flooding since records began. I
hope you managed to make it through intact, and that you’re coping. Everybody
here at Look North and at Radio Humberside and Radio Lincolnshire was working
incredibly hard to keep up with the news and get all the information out to
you. We had lots and lots of help with all the information and photographs
being sent into us, so thank you for all of that. On a day like yesterday we
need all the help we can get and it was wonderful to see everybody pulling
together in the community to help each other and get through the flooding.
There were some wonderful stories on our BBC radio stations about people
overcoming the extreme weather, as well as some sad stories as well, and of
course lots of information and advice being given out by them and on Look
North throughout yesterday.

One message here from Michelle who emailed in to say: “I would just like to
thank your full team for keeping our local areas updated on the disastrous
floods. You're all doing a fantastic job and I'm sure everyone is with me when
I say that you are very much appreciated.”

Make sure you tune into your local radio stations today to continue getting all
those updates, and of course don’t miss Look North for the full story later
today.

There were lots of events locally that were planned for this week but have now
been cancelled due to the rain, but hopefully everything will be back on track
before long. I was listening to Carl and Gloria this morning on Radio
Humberside and Gloria mentioned that we are a stoic nation, and I’m sure that’s
true and I think you’ll see people managing to get back to normality as best
they can very soon.

Pictures

As I mentioned, there were lots of pictures of the flooding sent into us from
all over our region. Thank you very much for those, and of course if you have
any pictures you think we should see, or we can use on the programme then you
can send them to me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
And if you have any stories on the flooding or anything else, you can drop me a
line at the same address.

Well that’s about it from me today, let’s hope for some better weather, I hope
you manage to get through alright if you’ve had some problems with the water,
and of course take extra care and stay safe.
Bye for now

Peter
