Hello it’s Peter here and welcome to the new style and more concise Levy
Letter, hope your weekend was good. It’s such a shame that so many things
planned for the weekend had to be cancelled including of course the Lord
Mayor’s parade, the first time it’s ever been cancelled. Anyway, let’s hope
next weekend is better, it’s the Humber half marathon of course, and Paul and I
will be there to start the race off, but not to run in it… We’ll be there from
9.15, do pop down to the bridge if you can and say hello.

On Look North tonight we’ll have all the top stories and news from our region,
starting with what were some of the worst floods that we'd seen for many
decades. Today people are still struggling to get back to normal after Friday's
freak weather. We'll be finding out why the rain caused so many problems and
talk to those who are still affected.

Lincolnshire has managed to bring down its teenage pregnancy rate by more than
30 per cent and health managers claim the secret of their success is more sex
education in schools. We'll have a special report tonight speaking to teenage
mums and visiting one of the county's schools.

On BBC One tonight there's a special programme where the apprentice winner
Michelle Dewberry goes back to her home city of Hull to look at the efforts
that are being made to regenerate it. But do buildings really change a city or
is it all down to the people who live there? That sounds fascinating, doesn’t
it? I think that’ll be a really interesting programme for people in our region,
not just those who live in Hull.

And we'll also be trying to solve a medieval mystery as work finishes to reopen
Julian's Bower... an ancient turf maze in North Lincolnshire.

That’s all coming up tonight, and we’ll also have the detailed weather forecast
as well, it’s been a bit unpredictable lately, but hopefully we’ll have some
nicer weather on the way.

Well speaking of the weather, I hope you’ve all survived the recent flooding
intact. We had amazing pictures of some of the damage and roads flooded last
week, if you’ve got any stories about the floods then send them in to me at the
usual address, [EMAIL PROTECTED], and of course if you have a story or
something we should know about on any subject, or an interesting picture you
think we can show on the programme then drop me an e mail as well.

We had a lot of emails and messages in last week after our story about rogue
traders, thank you very much for all of those, and we got a lot of useful
information we might follow up. Don’t forget, lots of our stories and programme
ideas come from viewers sending them in, and we always appreciate your input.

Beckham

You don’t have to like or be interested in football to know who David Beckham
is. Well just a quick mention here after I’m told he played his last game for
Real Madrid last night before moving to the bright lights of Los Angeles to
play football in America, would you believe. It’s amazing how famous he’s
become, and it looks like he might become an even bigger celebrity now. I think
despite all the things in the papers about him, lots of people in this country
will wish him good luck as he leaves Europe, and he managed to win a trophy
last night in his last game. So well done to one of England’s biggest
celebrities, and soon to be an American one too from the looks of things.

Well that’s about it from me today, I won’t be presenting the lunch time
bulletin today on Look North, but I will be presenting the evening programme as
usual and the late programme at 10.30 tonight, so make sure you stay with us
for that and join me later.
Bye for now.

Peter
