Hello there, its Peter here with the start of another week of Levy Letters. On tonights programme, after another awful death toll on Lincolnshire's roads this weekend amongst bikers, we'll be talking to Lincolnshire's top road safety police officer about how to get through to the biking community.
And are potholes getting you down in the dumps? Have you got a particular gripe against a pothole on your road? Do you think you live on the road with the most potholes in the region? We'll be speaking to some motorists in Pocklington tonight about their pothole woes, but get in touch with us today if you've got a pothole problem. Its the usual address of [EMAIL PROTECTED] And as Beverley comes out top of the charts in a new national survey of the most desirable places to live, well be finding out what makes the town so special. And it was an incredibly exciting weekend for sport. Damian Johnson will be with us live at Craven Park as we join in the Robins' celebration after their victory in the latest Derby. We'll be finding out what this important win means for Hull KRs long term future in Super league. And Damian will also have the highlights of a great win this weekend for Scunthorpe United. Thats all tonight on BBC One at half past six. Students across the country will be getting ready for University at the moment. But theres one special student, seventeen year old Caezaan Keshvani, whos had to win his place at a UK university. Bizarrely enough, Caezaan has spent his summer competing against ten thousand other hopefuls in a bid to win a reality television show and this guy is from India! The teenager is from Mumbai and has taken part in the programme with the grand prize of a place at a choice of five English universities, including Leeds and Sheffield. And last night, he was named as the winner on Indian television, earning him a scholarship for a three year biomedical science course and hes chosen to come to our part of the world at Sheffield Uni. Hes apparently never been to the UK before, but is looking forward to coming to Sheffield. So Caesaan wont have had the usual course to get his place at university. Hes had to get through five stages, including an exam, interview, quizzes and competitive t! asks. But hell be starting his course in biomedical science this year, so good luck to him! And heres a great story! Our congratulations go to eight donkeys on Skegness beach. Theyve been named today as Britains Best Group of Beach Donkeys! These awards aim to acknowledge high standards of animal welfare practice and these Skegness donkeys have beaten off stiff competition from other coastal sites like Blackpool and Scarborough. So well done to John Nuttall and his group of donkeys in Skegness! And celebrations are also being sent to the Fen Bank Greyhound Sanctuary at Friskney. Theyre celebrating their tenth birthday. Sandra got in touch with me to say that during the time that theyve been open theyve saved hundreds of ex racing greyhounds and lurchers and have found them new and permanent homes. Sandra writes We have our Annual Greyhound and Lurcher Show and Companion Dog Trophy Show of twenty classes on Sunday September 16th, which normally attracts over a thousand people because of the large numbers of Trade and Craft stalls present as well as specialist Greyhound Stalls. We have also some very photogenic kennel staff as well as some stunning dogs all looking for a home, so please would you consider a visit or interview or just a mention to help a local charity that has been working quietly away for ten years in the south of the county! So thanks go to Sandra for her email and heres the plug for her photogenic kennel staff and dogs! The dog show is on S! eptember 16th, so good luck for that and I hope it goes well! Make a note in your diary for that. Well, that's it from me for today. Have a good day and join me tonight if you can.
