You know, that could be critical, too. I looked again at my old Paradyne
manual, and the difference there was that "ATZ0" would load the profile
from User 0 into Active, but "ATZ" would perform a reset and then load
the profile specified by the &Yn command into Active. That could be a
different profile and probably USR offers a similar option. Of course,
the &Yn command can be used to set user 0 as default by entering "AT&Y0"
and probably that would be the default setting on the modem anyway.
"&Y0" was the factory default on the Paradyne.

Yes, if Constant can get the manual, then he can figure out better what
to do. Whether he can use an Adobe PDF version would depend on whether
he can run Acrobat on his system and, if so, whether the version of
Acrobat that he can run is able to interpret the document. I've run
into problems with the final 16-bit Windows version of Acrobat not
handling some of the newer PDF files created with the latest 32-bit
versions.

I still have a feeling that the defaults for AT&F1 would probably be
good enough for Constant and that there may be something else that
hasn't been mentioned. For example, suppose that Net-tamer is
connecting but the server is knocking it off immediately due to a
password failure. I have one ISP (actually it's this one) that
frequently does that to me. They recognize the problem, but haven't
fixed it yet. If Net-Tamer connects but immediately hangs up due to a
password failure, then it won't rotate to the next number. It will
rotate _only_ if the line is busy. The difference should be obvious,
but perhaps it isn't if it happens quickly. It might also be difficult
to see what's happening if this is an internal modem that Constant has.
I don't recall whether he said it was external or internal.
