It is not a question of bargaining to retain the word which has infatuated a
person!

Yes. You can use swaatantrya instead of swatantra. But what I am requesting
is please donot use Mukta for Free software in kannada.

It is perfect if you use 'ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ' instead of 'ಮುಕ್ತ' .

Let us not bother about the fate of this. But word 'Mukta' has many meanings
in the usage: free software, open software, liberation from this world
itself, free from the debt, etc. And hence it would create confusion b/w
free and open software.
But swaatantrya or swatantra will not take you to such a confusing path.

Sometimes, to say that we are talking of freedom and not gratis, I use
