WinXP will run pretty well on 512 MB but if you are video editing or doing things with very large file sizes you might need more. Don't know why you still need Win98 but there is a work around that will let you dual boot and have 1 GB of ram available for WinXP. Basically, there is a way to tell Win98 to limit itself to using 512 Mb. That would let you leave the ram installed and available for WinXP. Take a close look at the system configuration utility option in the workarounds. I think that one is probably what you need. I have over 300 Gigs of hard drive space to work with from that standpoint, so hopefully XP would effectively use that space whan ram was not available.
