Gordon,
I don't know where you are searching. Ancestry? My Heritage? Fold 3? Or at
your local Family History Center?
Did you find your ancestor LEAVING the Azores too? Cheri

Jo Ann,
I'm pretty sure that lists from Hawaii to California do not exist. In 1902,
Hawaii was a U.S Territory, so travel between Hawaii and California would
be the same as any other states. It's between American ground and American
ground. Cheri

My Mello's came to California o/a 1902 from Hawaiitried to find where a
list of approx. 14-15 Mello's en masse traveled to California around that
time - nothing in SF, LA, Oak.

Keep in mind that if your ancestor had an alcunha, he may have entered
under that name instead of Ferreira. And I hope you are searching under
Jacinto and Jacintho as well as Jesse.
Good
Finder.
However, there's a genealogy conference this weekend and FTDNA is a vendor
and they will have specials at the conference. I'm going this weekend, so
stay tuned for pricing!

Many times, it is called "Potter's Field." That seems to be the universal
term that most cemeteries use. So if there's another term to try if they
don't know what you mean.

The Mount St Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Hayward
The original cemetery was where the priests residence is today, next to the
All Saints Catholic Church on 2nd and D.
When the then new Mount St Joseph Cemetery was established my Grandfather
Martin hel
rently today. In the past,
they basically farmed them out as child (slave) labor. Very sad.

I think the Children's Aid Society was an east coast thing and when they
got too many kids, they started shipping them out all over the U.S. on
Orphan Trains. Basically child labor. I know for sure it wasn't a western
U.S. thing.

I must have about 15-20 Mariannos in my database. It's not unusual where I
do my research, but less common.

The index was made by a human and humans can make mistakes. Look at all the
kids and look for gaps between kids. Then search those gaps by hand.
I'm suspicious that there was only ONE Maria!

Terri,
Did you find every single kid for Joao Travassos and Josepha Marianna? You
know every family needs AT LEAST 3 Marias! LOL

our spring one. So
the next would be the late summer/early fall around late Aug/early Sept of
2020, depending on what is available at the Salt Lake Plaza Hotel. The
announcement for the dates will be around Feb/March of next year. Cheri
