HBSS events normally go to the Enterprise console like McAfee, CounterACT,
RSA Archer, etc..
The console then communicats to the Remedy system via some plugin (theirs
not BMC normally) and injects the ticket.
SIEM also would be another example with BEM/SIM / Patrol, etc..

Vendor specific..
Sometimes BMC does have the connector as well..

Not sure if this helps but you can create Advanced searches which do
prompt for parameters. In the advanced bar you can type the following:

 'Submit Date' = $Enter Start Date$ and 'Submit Date' = $End Date$

When you run this a dialog box will appear asking for the dates. After the
query is run you can then save the Search. The next time you run it the
 parameter dialog will appear.

As far as I know and seen, Variables (Popped up) is not possible.
the only way is the choose field, =; value in the form under the report
console.
you can create pre configured reports and put them out there on the
console as a menu.

There are ways to give them prebuilt Query's in the form as well, which
might help.

qualifications that use parameters. However whenever I try to do it, I get
 an error.

I'd like to be able to do something like 'Submit Date' = $StartDateHere$
 AND 'Submit Date' $EndDate+1Here$.

This was never an issue in the client, but now...whoo boy! I've got a
helpdesk staffer who is in charge of creating reports that he is sharing
with his management, but they hate the fact that they have to run a search,
select records, then choose a report. They want to be able to just run the
report from the report console and be prompted for the variables.

I know it's possible with the BIRT tool, but we're just not there yet.

 Any help would be appreciated.

 Good morning,

I’m in the process of configuring my proof of concept MyIT/SmartIT box and
came across something that seems strange to me. According to what I’ve
been told, there’s no direct connection between the Services that are
configured in the CMDB and what exists in the “Services” used by MyIT.
Furthermore, it appears that there isn’t a way to show services being
available or not based on outages reported within ITSM. I hope I’m wrong
or that this integration is going to be in a future release but I wanted to
see if anyone else has run into this yet.

Overall I have a positive view of what MyIT/SmartIT does, but there are a
few areas like this that seem disconnected. If there is any interest, I’ll
write up my opinion of MyIT/SmartIT later this week after I’ve had a few
more days to play around with it.

 Thanks,

NOT RESOLVED:: BMC prestack out of box install, UDDI did not work, cause
it was not installed.. 8.1.01 -- so I installed Atrium core 8.1.2 on
installation, and it went well.. I thought.. now BMC is attempting to
figure out what is wrong with it.. they are struggling.. it shows no signs
of being bad except in the logs.

Yeah, I preferred the prior color scheme. For some reasons the new

Mifflin Paper Company. The logo says V or W more than B and looks
like a bad guy from a late 1970's arcade game.

That being said, I don't really care about such things as long as their
software does what we need, I just think BMC is going through too much
effort to appear to be a trendy new startup rather than the ITSM market

The Remedy ITSM team is excited to be a major part of this year’s BMC

in-person at Engage. However, you can still learn about Smart IT from the
comfort of your own desk or home as we bring the Remedy @ Engage experience
to you via live streaming video. Key members of the Remedy team, including
Robin Purohit - ITSM President, will host a special, live session at noon
EST on October 15th introducing Remedy with Smart IT.

Register here to join the BMC Remedy team
 http://www.bmc.com/forms/ITSM-Remedy-SmartITVideoLaunch-Engage-Oct15.html
as we celebrate the release of this fantastic new Remedy experience that
provides every customer a smarter service desk.

Although this particular announcement is focused on the packaged
applications, there is a lot going on with the platform as well. All of
the work that is being done to enable the new Smart IT approach is being
done within the platform and will therefore be available for anyone doing
customizations or building custom applications. All changes in the AR
System or mid-tier will be available in an upcoming release. And work is
under way to further expand access to the mobile interfaces that are being
 introduced.

There will be a number of discussions at Engage around some of the new
capabilities both short and longer term that are coming to the platform
that enable the Smart IT improvements and that will be available for custom
builds and customization/extension of the applications as needed. There
are some pretty interesting things coming in the next couple of releases to
assist with customizations and significantly simplifying

merging your changes with ones that BMC is making and with adding
capabilities to make your custom application that much more powerful.

 BMC Remedy Teams

Instance name :: remedy
SA password it says::

*So I put in the following::*

Instance name : remedy
System installer says:

   - he installer is unable to resolve NAME-w12-sql-1\REMEDY into an IP
address.Clients cannot communicate to the Server unless they can resolve

If I put in the IP address \ REMEDY is says same thing.

I know it is something silly, it must be the fly on my nose (too close).

if I put in NAME-W12-SQL-1 (it says it should be the above)

do I need to create some sort of Alias? like in the /etc/hosts?

Lets start with the environment:
When logging into MSSQL server management studio I use the following
settings.
Servername : name-w12-sql-1\remedy
instance name : remedy

with sa password and Voila.. no problems.
if I view connection properties it says:
Server name:: name-w12-sql-1/remedy,1435
instance name:: remedy

With 2012 sql server you can create seperate instances within itself. hope
that makes sense.

2014-08-05 Thread patrick zandi
I have tried host, host\named instancehost\named
instance:0,porthost\named instance,port
host
then instance name

going insane..

I can login with ssms, and I can query db no problem

but the login is as hostname(or IP)\named instance, port

name-W12-SQL-1\REMEDY,1435
8.1.01 does not like it with or without port (cause port is in the line
below)...

I actually built a server (8 of them) and after installation we had to
change the ar.conf to hostname,port
or they would not run.. I think someone at the Engineering area missed a
step... but this was for a SQL Cluster..
it would let you install, but not bounce..now this one will not let me
install..

Just to humor the installation script, have you tried putting the IP

Also try installing the full client (client tools) and see if you can
connect the SQL server manager and open a Query Analyzer session.

 the tnsnames.ora
 configuration file.

Another possible reason could be a default domain setting.

In your Oracle Client configuration do you have an SQLNET.ORA
 configuration file that defines?

 names.default_domain = world

In those cases the TNSNAMES entry wanted to be:

 CONNENTRY.WORLD =

   (DESCRIPTION =

 (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 111.111.11.111)(PORT = 1521))

 (CONNECT_DATA =

   (SERVER = DEDICATED)

   (SERVICE_NAME = connentry)

 )

   )

And then my login using SQLPLUS would be

 sqlplus user@CONNENTRY.WORLD

We have our Remedy database on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production server.

I am using SQL*Plus Release 10.2.0.1.0 client to connect to it but am
unable to connect with a connection error that reads as:

ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified

I have checked my tnsnames.ora file for any possible errors in the
connection string and can’t seem to find one. This is the contents of the
entry (I have replaced the actual IP and the service name and what not
with fictitious names for security reasons – the port is 1521 which is the
 default port.)

 ## Remedy ITSM db - Devl - Used IP instead of hostname

 CONNENTRY =

   (DESCRIPTION =

 (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 111.111.11.111)(PORT = 1521))

 (CONNECT_DATA =

   (SERVER = DEDICATED)

   (SERVICE_NAME = connentry)

 )

   )

While connecting I use the username password as given to me and
 connentry as the host string.

What could possibly be the causes of ORA-12154 that I ought to check for?
I suspect something wrong with my connection string in my tnsnames.ora file
but can’t figure what it is. I checked with the DBA’s for the exact IP,
port, service name and they say it all checks out.

I was also suspecting that perhaps Oracle client 10.2.0.1.0 may not be
compatible with Oracle Database version 11.2.0.3.0, but I do not think that
could be the problem as Oracle clients are usually compatible with at least
 1 version forward or backward.

Any insights as to what I and my DBA’s may be missing may help..

 Thanks..

 @William,

I usually (and I did this time too) edit my tnsnames.ora file by hand
instead of using the Net Manager or whatever that utility is. So we can
rule out the strange invisible character theory I think.

 @Patrick,

I can ping the IP as well as tnsping the server with no problems. I’m not
using the hostname but the IP instead, so an entry in the host files is not
needed. I’m having our DBA look into this issue as well and they have not
yet spotted anything out of the ordinary. Not yet anyways.

 @Fredrick,

The only difference between others who can connect using the oracle user
and password (its not a domain or NT account), is that they use corporate
hardware so logon to the domain – I use my personal laptop, so I VPN into
their network. I’ve been told that should not make a difference because
they do not use any special restrictions that restrict access to only
 corporate users.

As an alternate, I will try to use the Squirrel client that I have never
used before in the hope I could at least get that working. I have noticed
others using it here and it has a Toad like interface. I’m going to try my
luck with that and if that works I’ll scratch off my oracle client and
rebuild it just in case something has jinxed my SQL*Plus client. Having
used SQL*Plus only in the past, I am more comfortable with it but with this
problem I’m willing to go with whatever that works. I’ll let you’ll know if
 Squirrel solves the connection problems..

I've seen two different times where the tnsnames.ora file had some type
of invisible control character in it and the file would not work.

We'd re-type it and try again and it worked - even though the files would
be identical to visual inspection and were checked by multiple people.

If you're on Unix you might want to run dos2unix on the file.

Ok … Since you can connect to other databases listed in the TNSNAMES.ORA
file that should rule that out

Since you have SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS) I wonder if there
is a permissions issue with the user and password you were given.

NTS uses Windows native authentication to allow access to a database. If
you are specifying a user and password yourself I usually prefer to set
this to NONE or comment out that line in the sqlnet.ora file.

I can connect to other databases whose connection strings are defined in

IF you are using the ORACE_RAC we have found some additional settings in
the TNSNAMES.ora need to be applied AND you have some additional settings
you have to modify in the SLM module, due to the fact that remedy wrote the
code to do it static like name:sid:table or something like that...

hope that helps some.

correct and if not, edit them with notepad to get it going again. It is a
bit forgiving since the restart will keep trying to connect to the DB for a
loong time (not sure how long or how many attempts), but as soon as I
save the file, it seems to pick it up and continue on the next attempt.

The cause could be self-inflicted, as in -- the customer initially gives
me DB info without specifying the port and I try 1433 to start, only to
have the DBA later say, Oh yeah, I changed the port to (blah) Then it
seems the installer config file may on some occasions appear to stubbornly
keep referencing the initial incorrect value or something (I'm not sure
 exactly what/why).

I've also been given DB hosts that, during the install, I find they can't
be resolved in DNS and I have to edit the hosts file mid-install to get the
DB to ping by hostname. I usually do check that before install, but
sometimes you work with folks who seem quite competent and the last thing
you expect is that they stand up a DB server and for whatever reason, they

I think we figured it out...
security folks found a vulnerability with the in the registry
settings for executable..

Another possible solution for Error 1076:

Go to Registry HKEY LOCAL MACHINE System CurrentControlSet Services
- BMC Remedy Action System Server service Check the ImagePath where
amonitor.exe is defined in double quotes C:\Program Files (x86)\BMC
Software\ARSystem\armonitor.exe

If this is double-quoted, please remove quotes and restart the ARServer
services.

I've learned to watch for the installer to seemingly stall at the point
where it does that restart. If it does stall, I immediately head to the
ar.cfg to see if the DB host values (Sybase-Server-Name: or similar?) are
correct and if not, edit them with notepad to get it going again. It is a
bit forgiving since the restart will keep trying to connect to the DB for a
loong time (not sure how long or how many attempts), but as soon as I
save the file, it seems to pick it up and continue on the next attempt.

I usually do check that before install, but
sometimes you work with folks who seem quite competent and the last thing
you expect is that they stand up a DB server and for whatever reason, they
don't mention that they either forgot or intentionally didn't create a DNS
entry for it. Weirder things have happened...

Best of luck and I hope you get it figured out!

8.1.01.001 Patches -- Issue

2014-05-08 Thread patrick zandi
Ran into a issue this week and here is the problem and resolution

Problem ::

ARS 8.1.01 -- attempting to apply ARS patch 001 and it will not work.. it
says no product selected and fails.
It worked on another system... The P001 SRM, and Atrium did work... however

Solution::
ENV variable not in system --
BMC_AR_SYSTEM_HOME = PATH-TO-ARSYSTEM folder

Patch runs...

Potential Fix action if this does not work::
Copy ARSystemInstalledConfiguration.xml file from a working server and
replace same file on the non-working server. Modify the file with the
correct server name entries. Rerun the installation.

 Hi,

The demo of the zero-downtime application update was really nice. And for
smaller definition updates it seems great.

In many cases when it is time to upgrade you AR Server or ITSM, it is
 usually
time to switch hardware/os/db-version as well. In this scenario it is more
important to have a good delta-data-migration utility (adv: such as
 rrrchive)
 to minimize the downtime.

Best Regards - Misi, RRR AB, http://www.rrr.se (ARSList MVP 2011)

Ask the Remedy Licensing Experts (Best R.O.I. Award at WWRUG10/11/12/13):

 * RRR|Log - Performance issues or elusive bugs? Analyze your Remedy logs.
Find these products, and many free tools and utilities, at http://rrr.se.

Actually it's not 100% true. If you are patching the host Operating
 system
etc., this would be true and also to a limited extent for the ARS app
 server.
However when you are updating the ITSM apps or the ARS app server in a
significant way (changes the underlying schema), this is not the case.
  When
Remedy is utilized in a mission critical role, those personnel that
 support
Remedy would really benefit from a true zero downtime feature. This was
presented/discussed at WWRUG 2012 as a possible future enhancement.
Personally I would really really really like to see this become a
 reality.

Re: BMC Remedy and Flash

2014-03-19 Thread patrick zandi
Joe help me understand the downtime with a server group scenario.

If you have 3 web servers (which can rotate each out and be patched, os and
application wise - then rotated back in), and have 3 Servers is a server
group (which again be pulled patched, upgraded, OS patched and put back
into group) one at a time.. All the servers in the group are connected to
the SQL Cluster / oracle RAC .. I still see no outages, vice a bomb or
something physical/network related.
DR is the fail over to a completely redundant system in a different
location, where either data replication was going on, or the DSO was turned
to active to a live system, which is the case of the bomb/tornado/911
instance.

On Wed, Mar 19, 2014 at 1:06 AM, Joe D'Souza jdso...@shyle.net wrote:

 Within certain limits though.

I would not go that far to claim to the customer/management that there will
be absolutely no down time during code migration.

 There will be.

By taking servers on and off a server group, to upgrade core system
versions, yes that can be done with 'minimal' down time. But the migration
and code upgrade, takes as much down time as the migration of the code
 itself takes.

Even if you stand up a completely new parallel system, and then decide a
switch by mirroring a database, there still will be that minimal time
required to port the delta data.

Personally I think it is not possible to completely eliminate downtime if
your system is significantly large. Its like approaching infinity in
mathematics - you can get close, but you can never get there. You just got
to be content you got close enough..

 Cheers

 Joe

By default, arserverd binds to the interface 0.0.0.0. My RHEL 6.4 server
has 5 IP Addresses. I want it to bind only to one of the 5 IP Addresses
 that I mention in armonitor.conf.

 armonitor.conf:

 /apps/tim/ar/timw0/bin/arserverd.sh -s dc5chw-000 -i /apps/tim/ar/timw0 -l
 /etc/arsystem/dc5chw-000

In this line, the server name is mentioned as dc5chw-000. I want arserverd
to bind only to this IP Address. How can I achieve this?

Environment: ARS 8.1 Patch 2 on RHEL 6.4

licenses question (minimum install) ITSM

2014-02-18 Thread patrick zandi
So we bought ITSM but the install instructions say you need (20 licenses
for each module).
Does that mean that purchasing ITSM you get free 20 licenses? This must
have been covered before...

Any where would that information be published.

 Tommy,

BMC has customers on both Oracle and MS SQL in significant numbers.

UNAUDITED but from what we see, the most used database is MS SQL (maybe
 60% and then Oracle in

the say 30% or a bit more range and others in the less than 10%).

Smaller customers are much higher on the MS SQL side. Enterprise
customers tend to be more heavily on

 the Oracle side.

The Remedy On Demand (the SaaS offering) system runs on MS SQL for all
 customers.

The capabilities of the database are in the same ballpark – the 8.1
release of the AR System and the final

completion of the work by Oracle has solved the case insensitive
difference and Oracle finally has full

case insensitivity option like SQL Server has had for years which closes
 the main functional difference

 between the databases.

In general, decisions are made based on in house expertise with a database
 – a lot based on what other

products they are using use as the database. Hardware things are on is an
 issue of course given that

MS SQL runs only on Windows.

Either database will do a good job for you. BMC has large customers on
 both databases with large data

volumes (millions of records) and large number of users (thousands of
 concurrent users).

 I hope this is useful,

 Doug Mueller

Has anyone else had to perform research on the global database

I’m just going to tell him to look at the current Oracle db.

This guy is not going to budge on a move or even a discussion of getting
Remedy off of Oracle until I can tell him that other companies use MSSQL.
The data doesn’t even have to be real current.

Re: CMDB 8.1 Status bug?

2014-01-16 Thread patrick zandi
Yeah :: another bug:: do not uninstall the application Web services: (BMC
said too to fix an issue with integrator) -- now we are stuck.

one application (the uninstaller) says the application is not installed,
the installer application says it is already installed... so which is
it..
BMC is having major issues around the UDM stuff. with my system.

jesus.ort...@lyondellbasell.com wrote:

I have run into a potential bug in Atrium 8.1. BMC, in its infinite
wisdom, decided to disperse a lot of fields that were once on
 BMC.CORE:BMC_BaseElement to BMC.CORE:BMC_ComputerSystem and a new form
 AST:Atributes. Additionally, they renamed BMC.CORE:BMC_ComputerSystem
AssetLifecycleStatus to simply Status. The AST:ComputerSystem form that
once was backed up by BMC_ComputerSystem (BaseElement +
BMC_ComputerSystem_) now has Status pointed to the new AST:Attributes form.
So what now happens is that when you update the status of a CI on
AST:ComputerSystem, it updates AST:Attrbutes, which is where Status comes
from, but there seems to be no mechanism(AL, filters) to update the other
forms’ Status, particularly BMC.CORE:BMC_ComputerSystem, hence BaseElement.
From a CMDB perspective, this is a problem is you have Reconciliation jobs
 that depend on BMC.CORE:BMC_ComputerSystem.AssetLifecyclestatus(now called
status), your jobs will not work because it never gets updated.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Did BMC fix it for you? I opened a
ticket with my support organization. So it will be few weeks before BMC
gets back to us with requests for logs. Just when we had the CMDB tuned the
way we want it in 7.6.04, they have to mess with it again. So much for the
 easy upgrade.

I believe they do the same things, however it is who is using the
application that makes the diff...
ANA is basically analytical reporting -- it can email and post to
sharepoint reports.. as well. (nice feature)..
ARS 8.1 can also do the Adhoc, and Bert reports by time as well.. CR is for
reporting with pretty formats.. etc Like ANA but does not email or
sharepoint them.
Also CR can be used on the web for web based reporting as well.
There are alot of minor differences, but with CR developer you can also
just create an RPT and plop it into the report form and anyone can use it
with the usertool.. Crystal reports viewer application (desktop app) can
use it too...
just depends who and for what are you using it.

1.6.0_ 43 is paid support now
1.5.0_ 51 is paid support now

Is this a Gimmick? Seems very odd that the latest will not run with the

1.8 is almost released and is in RC4 I think...

the first service pack comes out, it will be a stand alone install that
includes everything from previous patchesI know it's a bit quibbly, but
I want to avoid confusion :)

SoI'm not sure what's happening with it...I had an 8.1 Patch 2 ITSM
server that was running on the latest Java patches without issue.

But, typically when a Java throws the 'UnsatisfiedLinkError', it's
referring to some native library, in this case
 /u01/app/bin/libarapsignal81_build001.so that it can't find.

 Is that file in place?

I'm not extremely familiar with linked library problems on linux/unix, but
I know there are commands you can use to determine if files are in the
 LD_LIBRARY_PATH or not and such.

The perl script does an import into the system a .xls file into the

Compare the environment that ARS has with the environment you have when
 the perl works.

You can change your before.txt to be something like set before.txt
   or env before.txt

Either of those should give you the environment that ARS has so you can
compare it to when the perl works

What is odd, is that as I was revisiting the document for v8.0 and following
everything again step by step, it indicated we should only be using a system
DSN so I changed the report to that driver. Yesterday we created that ODBC
driver on the crystal report server (which I believe is AR System ODBC Driver
not the one shown in the error) but also left the original that is being used
 by our other reports.

This must be something very elementary that we are missing. Does anyone
 recognize this issue?

Are we the only one in the world having a mid-tier/crystal integration issue
(besides the one other arlister that contacted me)?

 Please help !!!

 Thanks,
 Susan

 Hi,
I am on path of upgrading ARS from 5.1.2 to 8.1(also moving from
 Solaris/Unix to Linux)
My understanding is - ARS 5.1.2 was 32-bit.
Does ARS 7.6.04 or ARS 8.1 provides an 32-bit or 64-bit option while
 performing an install?
Reading some posts I learnt that BMC recommends installing 64-bit ARS for
 version 7.6.04 or 8.1.
Currently, I am looking to perform a fresh install of ARS 7.6.04 on Linux
 - little unclear on 32-bit 64-bit.
Also, where could I find out the ARS installed on Solaris/Unix, Linux is
 32-bit or 64-bit?
 Please advise.

 Thank you,
 Raj

I like that idea! I was going to recommend building a new 64-bit ITSM server
with a new junk DB. Once the server is build you cut it over to the existing
DB. With your method the installers won't need to do any of the DB work that
done during a fresh install; just build the app server.

In the License entitlements section off BSM Analytics for BSM 7.6.06 it
 states the following:

License Types: User vs. Premium User

There are two types of user licenses available for BMC Analytics for BSM:
User and Premium User. Depending on the license type, users will have
access to the capabilities of either the Professional or Premium edition of
SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise. Non-premium users have full access to view

such as viewing Crystal Reports. Premium users may use all the
capabilities of the BusinessObjects Enterprise Premium suite, including
viewing of any BusinessObjects document types including viewing Crystal
Reports from the BMC Remedy Mid Tier.

So, given the above, does that mean that if I have a user that wants to
view Crystal Reports via the ARSystem mid-tier (ex. ITSM reports) , that
they must have an associated Premium license in BMC Analytics for BSM?
Can someone confirm this for me ?

Are you sure installation fails completely? Or is that just a warning
message about email engine being disabled?

If installation failing then BMC need to test it , disabling email engine
on startup should not cause ARS installation to fail.

Re: BMC Remedy Health Advisor

2013-09-13 Thread Patrick Zandi
Maybe there is a health committee advisor

 Hi Christopher,
Yes, installed this when it first came out (as I believe it was bases on
another partner tool - just re-vamped so was expecting good things as I had
seen the original version - E-Support [TSMI] although never officially
 confirmed).
It is cumbersome to get up and running, and I found it full of bugs where
lots of the functionality did not work as expected (lots of workflow bugs).
There were multiple parts to install and then configure - not straight
forward and the documentation is not too great.

I wish it had more support, there is massive potential to get have this up
and running with the ability to add lots of modules. There was just so much
that did not work as expected, so gave up on it pretty quickly due to it not
being supported and it did not seem to gain much traction.

The main issue I see, as was with E-Support, is that if your Remedy system
goes down, you have no monitoring as it is housed in your AR System

To be honest, there are a number of tools that out do this although it is a
good first effort (again there is potential).

Column Technology (Dom Lewington) does something similar for monitoring
called Sentinel, which was originally based on a similar concept from an
open source software Big Brother - although it has now been completely
re-written to be native Java and standalone . I wrote a number of modules
when it was in the Big Brother model (when I worked for Column) which would
have ported nicely into the Health Advisor but due to the lack of support it
kind of died a natural death.
The great thing about the Sentinel concept is that it was housed outside of
Remedy, so could still run if the system fell over:

 Original concept:

 http://www.bb4.org/features.html

I digress, but from memory you need to install both the server and the client
 to get running.

I have a VM with this up and running, let me know if you need me to dig up
the configuration and setup (deciphering the documentation was the key).

 Kind Regards,

 Hello All

We just ran the installer for the BMC Remedy Health Advisor and were
wondering if anyone else has installed this utility? When we installed it we
got no errors, however, when we look on the server we don’t see the Health
Advisor, or any of its forms or workflow installed. Anyone care to give me
some insight as to why this is missing and how to get it on to the server? Do
I need to manually install the Application on to the server myself, via the
 Developer Studio?

Re: Naked 8.1 server

I just went through this, bare naked install is like a couple of hours max,
itsm is 18 hours, the reverse of that is a waste of time

 Hi Ray,

We didn't strip it afterwards, but we are custom shop without ITSM and CMDB,
so we just installed ARS v8.1. Completed our dev server a couple of weeks
ago and it is now cutover from the old v7.5 dev server. They were complete
new server builds, HP X86 hardware, Linux, Oracle 11g, ARS 8.1. Building
test and prod now. We also did a play server before dev to prove out that
the combination of all the new versions would work together since they were
 all new for this installation.

Experience was very good. One of our best ARS version upgrades. We've done
 several, always building new servers.

Not exactly sure what your questions may be. I can't even imagine how'd you
strip out ITSM etc since everything links together.
