Well our training company do also want to switch over from discord to Microsoft Teams. Yeah, right in the phase of the training where we need to work on our final projects and exams are coming up.And now they have the bright idea to let us learn a new platform even though the current one works fine. Wondering what bright light went out in the head of the person thinking about this.Greetings Moritz.

Re: Input needed for planned audio football project

Hi.At Robjoy I don't know if that has been discussed before, but how will you define the strengths and weeknesses of a player? What I would suggest is that a player has multiple abilitys like, shooting, passing, crossing, tackling and so on tand that each of these abilitys has a value between 1 and 99 where one is the weakest value and 99 is the best possible score. So, a player who has say an 80 for shooting is able to hit the ball better than someone with a 60 in shooting. Something that can also be done is if the value is especially high, players might overdo with the ability, so let's say someone with a 97 in tackling might go in to hard and risk a fowl, so you as the person playing need to watch out abit on how hard you tackle the other player with the ball.greetings Moritz.

Re: Input needed for planned audio football project

So robjoyYou pointed out the issue to your  formation solution, which i did not pay attention to, so good to bring it out!So the example you just gave, technically is the formation for a when the team is:1. deeply defending and is pressed back to its own half.2. The keeper is performing a goal kick, or he or a defender is kicking off from an offside or a foul deep on their own half. When the players are kicking off from the center of the field, both teams are positioned a little further  from their goal lines and closer to the field! So, I'd think that in your  design, we would need three positions then.1. defending.2. central,3. full attack. In defending form, you can imagine an attacker standing just before the center spot, or in the middle of it.When in central form, example, if the game is just starting or they're kicking off from a goal, the attacker is standing further up the field. not outside the box, but a little bit further. When in attacking, the attacker is in the box or at the edge of it.Then again, I think you should think on how to implement this logically cause i basically have no idea, really. If you think that we should design three forms for each formation, then i think it'd be better if you made an editor for me, so i could focus on researching and inputting the correct positions for each forms, and then i wouldn't be confused with numbers and such, I think.edit: As far as i know, i need to do more research on this, All players are permitted to be wherever they want in the match. an attacker can be far off the formation and stand at an opposing team's box!But you have to take note of off side rules, marking, and  being aware so that you don't get caught off guard! So  if an attacker just leaves his team's formation and goes and stands in the box, he will have no chance of actually doing anything because even if he receives the ball,  offside rules! Because the other team's defenders are actually higher up the pitch and he's just offside.

So I just brought a nuc and I love it to bits. I am noticing something a little annoying though. If I go to unplug my headphones and plug them back in later, no audio will play what soever. Its just using an onboard realtech soundcard. I've tried stopping/starting the windows audio service, as well as muting/unmuting the soundcard as I figured it might have muted itself for whatever reason. I'm not sure if a restart fixes it, but short of powering the computer off, nothing I do seems to work. Is this a known thing/has anyone got fixes?seriously any help would be well, well appreciated.

I completely agree with Nocturnus. I'm sure there was a time when Henter-Joyce and JAWS were really innovative and important, but the business practices and lack of innovation from the company I have observed over the past few years leave a very sour taste in my mouth. NVDA is very capable and if Microsoft continues their efforts with Narrator, every Windows computer in the world will come with a high quality screen reader. There is absolutely no reason not to use NVDA and/or Narrator in the workplace. Please don't come back wit the open source argument. Tell that to all the companies that use Linux. As I've said time and time again, the only environment I can consider using JAWS in is if you need an application scripted. Then again, this is a band-aid solution. The developer should really work to make the program fully accessible. It will be interesting to see where Vispero is in 10 years.Regarding the question about people accepting Vispero's monopolistic practices, I don't know. The only thing that comes to mind is that this is the only option people are aware of. They don't consider that other solutions exist so go along with it because it's the *only* solution, therefore we must deal with it.

Generic windows forms accessibility for generic screen readers

2020-04-14 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : r3dux via Audiogames-reflector

Generic windows forms accessibility for generic screen readers

Hi guys,I've looked on this site for some generic windows forms accessibility tips, but not quite found what I was looking for. For example, the "Labeling controls for NVDA and/or any screen reader (solved)" post is good (https://forum.audiogames.net/topic/2803 … er-solved/) , but it's not solved outside NVDA. Perhaps if I explain the issue it might make more sense, I don't know if there is a good solution - but I can only ask.Let's say I have a button with the text "Run Selected Config" in SoniFight (and it just so happens I do). I've been testing using NVDA and it says "Run Selected Config" when that button is highlighted either by moving the mouse cursor over it or tabbing to it. All good so far.I don't have an details set in the AccessibleName or AccessibleDescription fields, and SoniFight is just a C# application using standard Windows Forms. Now, if I add something like "Run Selected Config" to the AccessibleName of the button then when it's highlighted it gets spoken twice in NVDA, that is, the text on the button and then the accessible name is spoken. That's not ideal. However, if I use the JAWS screen reader (I don't have paid version - just whatever 40 minutes they'll give me for free) then it doesn't say the text on the button OR the alternate text - and that's very far from ideal.I don't really want to test every screen reader on the Tolk accessibility list (https://github.com/dkager/tolk/) - but speaking the button text and the accessible name (i.e. saying the thing twice) is obviously stupid, but saying it zero times is surely worse - so I don't know what JAWS is up to or if there's a setting I should enable?Saying enough to be accessible is obviously the goal, without repeats, and without saying nothing at all - is there perhaps a standard I should be trying to integrate with - like Windows Narrator or something? Or would that not be of use because you don't use it? Or if I use some format used by Windows Narrator it can also be used by commonly used screen readers? I'm genguinely at a bit of a loss as to how I can make things as accessible as possible in the best way possible.I'm sorry if these are stupid questions - I'm just trying to learn.Thoughts appreciated,Al

Re: game pad for playing mk11?

The Xbox One controller is king for plug and play. You only need to plug it in and it'll automatically come up as an XInput device. No need for special drivers or anything. It however, is the less comfortable of the two for fighting games. Because you're using the analog stick for special motions (the D-Pad being placed too awkwardly for such inputs), you're likely to hit incorrect directions because of the round aperture. A back form 2 might register as back up forward 2 (or some combination thereof), thus making you perform a jumping punch rather than executing your special move. The Dualshock 4 is by far the better of the two for fighting games, since the DPad is right at your thumb for precise controls, and even if you want to use the analog for inputs, it's not as awkwardly placed as the DPad on the Xbox One controller. The Dualshock 4, however, isn't as plug-and-play as the Xbox One controller. It will work fine for games that still use direct input, but if a game requires X-Input, you'll need to install additional software (ds4windows), then go through the configuration process. The DS4 feels a lot more sturdy than the Xbox One controller, too, with a better heft and feel. The DS4 uses a rechargeable battery while the Xbox One requires a pair of AA batteries. The DS4 face buttons are very slightly bigger than the Xbox One controller. Think of the DS4 buttons as MNM's, while the Xbox One controller's buttons are like the round end of a jelly baby. For me, the DS4's buttons are more comfortable.Kai

I only thought because skylord said if I get them it's my choice what to do with him. I only wanted them to listen to them, nothing more.

@22: Not to mention the fact that accessibility is a hard-sell on their hardware, and it does significantly increase their numbers according to stats. So if they are going to commit to accessibility, chances are they are going to make it a hardware-exclusive in order for the investment vs return to even out more. Plus, as you said, there is only a small amount of people who actually do go for the komplete software without the keyboard. As far as I'm concerned, the perfect hardware-software integration is such that until Komplete makes a knob/encoder box that plugs into a keyboard's sustain peddle or extention port, I would never look back from the Komplete boards. Potential Komplete customers should know that given the solid hardware-software integration along with expandability, the nature of their products is to keep you wanting more. That's why there's that tempting discount price to Komplete 12 (even 12ultimate is a steal if you own one of their keyboards) and their summer of sound sale makes the discounts even steaper. I personally am waiting for that, and am probably going to go with Komplete 12 stand-alone because hard drive space constraints. I am going to want to use this mx500 for a little more than not even a year before I decide that their 2tb variant is worth it. Lol.

TV ADDS that you enjoy.

Hey guys. Post adds that you find very funny, or very ironic. The first one I'm going to post is a Holden add from the 70's, Where they literally call out the aussies aussieness lol.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGW-WX77zjYThere really should be a Trinidadian version. Cricket, football, doubles and Vincent cars. heheheh. The next one is a Ford Pinto ad. If you know the history of the Pinto, yule understand why I find it funny.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6uP1LR3dOUThis is just the same as the old one, but i like the background song. And again, the irony of it all. You also don't find it ironic the Ford Pinto was released on 9/11 of 73? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Zn56BUdi0oRight. That's all the car comercials, for now.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8duwb1sL3UGreat. Now to my favourite adds. This is a series of comercials, that the Trinidad express newspapers released a couple years ago, and I love them.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaWlNVmxrZkThe continuation of that last one. Mister N and G are names of other newspapers. Trinidad has this law where you can't call out other competetion in your adds, so they had to get creative. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2xFg25rEl8And finally, the original ToysRus kid advertisment. Tell you a secret, I actually shed a tear when I heard they shutdown ToysRus.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vUEKQQm-rYI''m tired, so this post was very messy. Post your adds here, and tell me what you thought of my choices.

Is this possible? From what I remember of the mpower braillenote, back when I had mine, was that remote synthesizer could be done via serial, or bluetooth, While its true the apex doesn't have serial capability; it still has bluetooth which; logicly; should still allow it to use remote synthesizer. Could this work? And if so, where would one go about downloading it?

I couldn't tell if there was anything wrong with the disk, though that may just be the microphone your using. The clicks sounded normal -- most modern HDDs do that when they're fulfilling a lot of read/write requests. It really depends on what the disk was doing though... if it was idling, and the system wasn't using it for anything, then there's definitely a problem and you should back up everything on there.

I think you need to register one of the VB6 runtime components. Have you tried running checkup.exe? It's a file that comes with Apron's games, like Swamp. When you run that, it should register the necissary components for the Lighttech games. I didn't even know they could be installed, let alone ran. When I run the setup files for any of the games, they simply don't open at all. I've tried them on both Windows 10 and Jen.

Re: Disappointed in the state of the record of disciplinary action topic

2020-04-14 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Site and forum feedback : Jaseoffire via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Disappointed in the state of the record of disciplinary action topic

First a bit off topic, another funny main post into signature transition for post 5. Now, as my point, I think all and all, it is good to have that log in addition to keeping mod accountability. It also keeps community accountability. In the end, we all kind of got what we needed out of that. As drums said, we can get an idea of how we've been doing not going off the deep  end. I've been checking that topic every day to see how things are going on the forum. Each day I don't see an update means the forum has been mostly civil for that day. Honestly, if we all took it day by day of not breaking the rules we'd be in good shape. That being said, that's not always possible. For example, I wonder how many of those posts are alt bustings, which means many of those would be dealing with the same person. Actually, someone should actually run the stats on the logs. Maybe we can pull together a glimpse of what we as a community need to work on. That might make it easier on both community and mod team to see  what's working and what isn't.

@9If you don't know enough that you need to ask this question, and everyone else involved doesn't know enough that you need to ask this question on their behalf, it's a lost cause and you should enlist a professional.yes, viruses can "travel" via USB, the scare quotes because really the hardware isn't infected.  It is very much possible to avoid moving the virus across when you move the data, but it isn't possible for you to avoid it by asking people on the internet to tell you how to do so and hoping you get it right, so just take it to Best Buy or something.

Re: Question For Audiogame Developers Using Node.js

If your target is the browser, then I'd pick a JS game engine/audio library and just build your game. The code to package existing web assets into an Electron app is pretty minimal. You only really need Node for any OS-level integration you want to run through Electron, but you won't need it at all for a browser game.Obviously I'm simplifying a bit, and no doubt someone will step in to nitpick. Just noting that you don't really need Node proper to start building, and the problem may be a bit easier to solve if you build the game first and package later. Your game engine of choice probably already has an Electron template available, or maybe you can use the audio game template I've seen floating around here.

Re: Titan Conquest: a light-weight mobile mmo

I'm hoping he adds the better way to know if a setting is on/off, but there is a simpler UI option that gets rid of those links at the bottum of the page. On PC those links are easy to stay away from, but the top few do something. the very top that says xp to the next level, is self explanitory. then you have your drachma, lp, ancient coins, and vanguard marks. If you play on pc, you can go buy lists and arrow around a bit to find where you are, until you get used to how many items a list should have so you know what to look for, as well as just figure out the interface a bit better. I don't know JAWS key comands, but i know NVDA plus numpad slash by default will let you move your mouse to where the keyboard focus is, and you can click away. make sure mouse tracking is turned on, nvda+m by default, so you can tell where it is at and to make sure that its where you want it to be before you start clicking.

Much depends on the distance of the microphone from the drive in this case, but hearing the motor whine as it does is concerning, and this is where you get a backup solution. Also if that system is still on and you have a drive to copy to, don't turn it off until you've made the copy; if you're going to see failures of a consumer PC it's highly likely to be at boot.

Re: Input needed for planned audio football project

@hadi.gsf Yes, I meant this exactly. So in the case of 4 2 3 1, this would be something like:p1 5 5 p2 25 5p3 45 5p4 65 5p5 5 25p6 65 25p7 5 50p8 35 50p9 70 50p10 35 70In defense position. Defenders are 20 meters apart, on the 5th meter of the pitch in front of the goal keeper. The next row has the two midfielders on the left and right side. The next row has the three players and the one forward is in the middle. This is probably not correct, so I am just trying to illustrate the representation. Then, p1 and p4, the two backs move up, so there would be an additional row with just those two players, probably at 5 45 and 65 45, if I understood your description correctly. But if it is easier, we can do this via the editor, or you could just describe the changes after the initial, defensive setup. What is important is the actual positions on the pitch, because these will be the positions where all the players move to when there's a kickoff, after a goal, etc. The moment you get the ball, players will have their attack formation instructions to move to.This reminds me, do I remember correctly that players are not allowed to stay on the opponent's third, or on the midfield, when they have a kickoff? For example after they received a goal. Because this would mean that they would need to move back to defend, only to change into attack formation the moment the kickoff is happening, since it is very likely that they are still in control afterwards. As always, I am open to suggestions, in case this approach is flawed. Thanks again for your help!@techmaster20 Thank you very much for your offer. I feel that we're not going to have issues with sounds at the moment, but I will keep you in mind. Everything counts, no matter how small or big the help is, because I can focus more on the coding part, and if there is a project where this counts, it's definitely going to be an audio remake of football You guys are great!

Actually, as another kind of important followup to this: in general the OS-provided controls are already accessible and extending them will get you into trouble.  So if it's a button and it already does the button things, everyone is going to already know how to pull button things from it without you doing anything, and you trying to make it special is probably going to end frustratingly.

@11My point is that it makes sense for no one to care about making them keyboard accessible, since it's nearly impossible to do even for the small ones, and when you do it's terribly inefficient.  I'm not making judgements about what people own, merely saying that we shouldn't really judge Native instruments for not putting in huge amounts of effort for the small number of people who are going to use it without the keyboard.

@an idiot re: Eastwest, Short answer: Not without heartache.Long answer: If you want one instrument at a time, with not much in the way of plugins? Have on. But the typical plugin chain, as I will expalin below, absolutely cannot run on 8gb ram and without a hyper-threading processor preferably.1: Eastwest guitara. Hwaves -EQWaves H-ReverbI have Guitar Rig as part of Komplete, but it isn't all that needed with their sampled guitars.2EW Stormdrum3a. H-EQb. either h-reverb or Abby Road plates3. Piano, usually from either Sonivox, Waves Electric Grand80, or Digital Synsations depending on what we're doinga. H-EQb. Possibly reverb, unless the built-in reverb on the piano is sufficient, sometimes it is, surprisingly. On top of that, for raw recording we have v-Comp, and if I am mixing vocals we typically go for an excitor, the Aphex Vintage Excitor personally. And finally, on the master bus, we have Abby Road Studio 3 as a control room. All that plus the fact that Eastwest is not the most lightweight instrument package as far as resources are concerned, and you'll be surprised if shit even loads on an 8gb ram machine. Even without plugins, you probably won't be able to have more than 3 tracks before the system starts stuttering. My system specs are as follows:model: xps15 7590CPU: 6core i7 running at up to 4.1ghz, can hyperthread making that 12virtual cores16gb (8x2) ddr4 ramNVidia gtx1650 with 4gb of dedicated graphics ram, good for gaming, modern graphic-intensive web apps almost never crashBluetooth5, Wifi6, built-in fingerprint reader, decent stereo speakersWindows 10 ProPrice: $1750 as a business customer, plus free expedited shipping. If you have a business name, just sign up with Dell as a business customer, at least in the U.S. that's all there is. Check with your distributor to see what else may be available. This is not an off the shelf item, they special-ordered mine so the whole make/deliver process took about a week and a half. The machine I was working with before, a macbook pro2015 with 8gb ram and a core i5, choked when Garageband was loaded with stock instruments and a few instances of Abby Road/H-REverb. So yeah. Not gonna be optimal if you go down that road.

Hello.@41,you could Tell your friends to do the following:1. Read the NVDA documentation, or2. Read the NVDA keyboard commands. Both of them are located in start menu>all programs>NVDAAlso, NVDA documentation is very good compared to jaws, because you don't have to press F6 every now and then

Re: rb farm is out

I would really like a more long term game something with the option of saving progress. I know that that is not what was in your plans for this game, but i like the idea of having bigger goals to work toward. I also think that we either need a few big cash purchases, or the econimy needs to be rebalanced, otherwise the game will continue to be too easy. Thank you for reading, and thank you for having the patience to work on a farm symulator, because this is the game i have always wanted. Maybe going  forward we could add a couple of other things that are on real life farms, like markets, food stands, horse racing, etc. Not sure how far you wanted to take this, but i could come up with ideas all day. I was tempted to code years ago, because i wanted a farming game, but you've saved me the trouble . Stay safe out there and keep up the good work.

This looks excellent, a really great way to enable people with minimal experience to produce their own games. What is your process for finding beta testers? Appologies if this has already been explained further back in the thread.

Re: How to get Light Cars to run on Windows 10?

@@Cyco,You haven’t really given us a lot of information we can work with here. Is it possible that you could  copy and paste the error code into a post so we can see what it is? I have a zipped folder with a dependency that might help. Also, install the Microsoft Media components, as well as the VB6 runtimes found on agarchive.net. Let us know if you need any help with that stuff. Another idea that you could try is installing CommAudio from the Audio Games Archive as well. All of those utilities will knock out any issues with LightTech Interactive’s titles.I hope this post was helpful to you.

Re: Light Battles 1: Clash of Lightsabers

171, lol. Ahh, I do like the lightsaber, that is my favorite weapon, as well as the force. I enjoy master mode cause of the limited practice I get. So far I've defeated one sith master in this game, and a lot of sith knights. In total killed about 41 syth knight and 1 syth master.

Accessible good keyboard instrument VST?

Accessible good keyboard instrument VST?

So maybe you guys can help me out with this, otherwise, I'll just save up and buy a Triton rack and figure it out. I just need a VST plugin that has a little bit of everything. I don't need anything specific, I do Hip-Hop stuff, I'd just like something that isn't shite that I can use in beats if I want too. I already have a good piano plugin so that's not an issue if the pianos are subpar

Jesus fucking christ, I never heard a drive make that kind of noise before, sounds like something's getting chewed up in there. Worst I ever had was the click of death from an IDE drive
