Hello, Do you have more details about this issue? It wouldn´t hurt if you add some sdi traces to your problem description. Can you see CUCM looking for CFB resources in the Default List? Regards. The proctor guide specifies that 2 dspfarm conferencing profiles are needed (1 on HQ router and 1 on BR1 router), each associated to separate MRG/MRGL, which is later applied to both phones. I made 2 observations: 1) when I tried not to use MRGLs and leave both CFBs in the default MRGL, CBarge didn't work. why is that? The media resources not associated with any MRG should be available to everybody. 2) when I configured only one CFB (no matter whether on HQ or BR1 router) and put it in a single MRG/MRGL associated with both phones, it worked. That would suggest we need only 1 CFB. Could anybody confirm these observations? I'm especially interested in explaining question 1. Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] ? wild card....
Mudassar, Which wildcard did you use? 91X will block any number from 91[0 thru 9]. Actually this wouldn't let you type any 4th digit since it is the closest match when dialing a 900 numbers. Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] GK-Controlled Trunk in CUCM
Michael, All I can say is that I had the same behavior in the past; now I can get it to work without adding the CME to CUCM. I know that by default for security reasons CUCM will deny connections from unknown sources; however to me the gatekeeper controlled trunk seems like an exception. In regards to the CSS; you use the Trunk's CSS for incoming calls. If you wish I can take some traces from my lab and share them with you for further analysis. Regards, Roger Carpio. From my observation, adding H323 GW (CME) to CUCM is needed because: 1) For security reason, CUCM won't accept H323 connection from an unknown source (ie. not configured in CUCM). 2) Without the GW configured in CUCM, there's no way to configure in-bound call parameters, such as Calling Search Space, Significant Digits, etc. So I guess without the GW being configured on CUCM, you can make outbound calls (from CUCM to CME). But you cannot make inbound calls (from CME to CUCM). Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Called party transformation mask vs. route pattern/route list manipulation
I would say it all depends on the dial plan. Both can pretty much accomplish the same; the problem at least for me is, how complex it gets when TEHO, backup GWs and calling/called party presentation comes into play. In my opinion CdPT patterns are scalable and they help you reduce your dial plan however the CCIE does not care about scalability, just functionality. Get used to both approaches; old school and the one introduced in CUCM 7; then you should be able to come with an action plan when your sitting in the lab. Regards, Roger Carpio. Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] (no subject)
Santiago, This is a question I would expect from an end user; not someone who's preparing for the CCIE Lab. Please do your homework; get detailed sdi/sdl traces, app logs, packet captures and if those don't give you the answer; forward them to me and I'll take a look at them. Please don't take it personal, we've all went thru basic configuration issues when we started but let's just try to keep the distribution list at expert level as much as possible. Perhaps if you ask for help telling us what you have done; you wouldn't receive an answer like mine. Finally, from my experience; look at the back of the IP phone and make sure you are adding the correct phone model in CUCM. An App log will easily show you this mismatch if that were the case. Dave, Nobody can guarantee that phones will be restored to a pre-decided firmware version, while proctors definitely restore the lab to an almost blank config; restoring the firmware requires some config and they just won't do it for you. Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] How do i change a Phone registered to CUCM from SIP to SCCP
In regards to the SIP to SCCP conversion; the easiest way is to enable auto registration making sure the protocol setup for this is SCCP. Obviously there shouldn't be any record for this IP phone in CUCM. In regards to the other question, first you need to understand why does the IP phone request the image; then you can come up with a solution. Troubleshooting Cisco IP Phone Registration Problems with Cisco CallManager 3.x and 4.x http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_tech_note09186a008009485a.shtml#topic1 Do not worry about the version; IP phone registration is pretty much the same. Once you understand how this works; you won't ever have to ask this question. There are other good documents at cisco.com with much more information than this; I'll recommend you to take a look at them if you still have additional questions. Regards, Roger Carpio. Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] lab6 new lab
Today's moral after reading this message.. Lab + # in subject = just a waste of time or aka troll. Please do not use the study list to share this information; you're just not doing any good by letting us know how big the test was or how complex you believe it is. I already know how big and complex they are (I've tried it twice). What you can learn from your experience is that you are just not prepared to take it.
