Re: [Audyssey] USA Games Web Site

2008-12-21 Thread dark

Fortunately Tom things aren't as bad as they could've been.

Because of a combination of a huge amount of things to do this week and me
being cautious and waiting for you to officially get the pb games running
before I fixed links to them (it reduces the amount of forum reportsw), I
haven't done anything with the usa games links yet.

Once again, when all game links are up and running, please let me know and
I'll start working on them, - and that includes Mota.

Hi,
Well, before you start linking anything to the USA Games Interactive
web site you might want to wait until I get everything fixed. My web
host and I are talking about blowing away the old account and
recreating the web site account fresh so everything works properly. If
that happens when I upload the updated web site things may or may not
necessarily be in the same place.
Your web site isn't the only one that is broken. Poor Dark just got
done linking audiogames.net to my web site and everything, and i do
mean, everything is broken. Poor guy.

actually one thing the mk dev team was planning on adding was
invulnerability. For instance Sub-zero would be able to shrug off Superman's
ice breath, however they couldn't do this due to lack of time. They also
couldn't find moves for every character and it would've been unbalanced. it
would've been awesome though.

 Hi,
That would be an interesting set of matches. Though, in a case of
Sub-0 and Iceman they would likely be equally matched. Iceman is
practically invulnerable to ice attacks since that is his specialty.
Iceman's weekness is fire, and would be better matched with someone
 with a special fire attack.
Although, since MK VS DC does have DC characters I would like to see a
matchup between Ice and Sub-0. However, since Ice is a little known DC
Comics super hero I don't think we will ever see that happen. She
appeared in a few shows of Justice League Unlimited, but didn't get
really any lines or important parts. i guess DC Comics has side lined
her character after her supposed death and disappearance in justice
League International. Though, her appearance in Justice League
Unlimited may be their attempt to reintroduce her character to DC
 Comics fans.

MY sentiments exactly. How coo would it be to have Iceman, say, fire a
 blast
at sub-0 only to be countered by an equal blast? Or Baraka to whip out
blades and hack away at Wolvarine only to find Wolvarine's blade coming
 out
of his knuckles? I still think Lady Deathstrike's finger sword type
 things
would be interesting against Kitana's fans.

[Audyssey] Backup speedup?

2008-12-21 Thread dark
Hi.

Well, I'm just preparing to leave my flat and go to my parents for christmas.

Of course, this means taking my laptop, and two pretty major backup sessions,
- one from my desktop to my external harddrive (which I'll be taking home
as well), and one from the hd to my laptop.

Doing these things every three or four weeks insures that I always have coppies
of everything.

it is however a rather time consuming process, sinse not only do I have to wait
for the files to copy across both ways, but also i have to decide which folders
I can simply copy and replace, and what organizational changes I've made to the
new copies.

Often, i just delete the old backups, though deleting can actually take a
fair while as well considdering my 7 gb music folder and my 10 gb audio folder
(which i use for both audio books and work related audio articals).

I was wondering if there's a way to make this process easier, or at least
automate it so that I can leave it ticking while I go off and do other things.

I'm sorry if this is getting slightly too far Ot, though of course I'll be
backing up all my games, favourites, and extra game content such as lone wolf
missions and rail racer tracks too.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] USA Games Web Site

2008-12-21 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Shaun and all,
Yes, the site is temperarily off line at the moment for updating. My
host and i decided the best thing to do was blow away the web account
and start over from scratch. There were some various account settings
etc that were causing us lots of grief on the new server, and instead
of trying to resolve them all one by one we felt it would be quicker
just to dump the account and start with a stock fresh account. I have
plans to begin setting up the site today so by Monday or Tuesday we
should have something more or less functional.

Hi,
Well, with my games you need to try to have an up to date copy of the
Microsoft .NET Framework and a fairly new copy of Managed DirectX. In
STFC's case you need .NET Framework 3.0 or better and Managed DirectX
August 2007 or later. I know for certain Managed DirectX doesn't come

Ah, and I thought I'd be able to temporarily get some space on my todo list,

Hopefully I'll get things fixed soon as well.

Actually, once the audiogames.net database is fully up to scratch,
maintaining it with updated links, new game pages etc won't be too
difficult, - it's just getting it there which is the major task,
particularly this time of year with various people who are busy.

[Audyssey] USA Games Mailing List

2008-12-21 Thread Thomas Ward
List Introduction:

This list is for the discussion of audio games. While the specific
purpose of this list is for the discussion of USA Games products and
services other third-party audio games are welcome as well.
If you have an installation problem with a game, are stuck getting
passed a specific point in a game, or just want the pure pleasure of
bragging how well you did in your favorite accessible game this list
could be right for you.

List Guidelines:

While we would like this to be a relaxed and informal environment for
our fellow gamers we ask that you please follow a few guidelines and
rules of proper list conduct. By doing so we are sure this will make
the list an enjoyable place to openly discuss our favorite games and
obtain help.

1. By signing up to this list we will assume you have read and agree
to abide by the following list guidelines.
2. All members of the list are required to treat his or her fellow
list members with respect. Inflammatory messages regarding someone's
race, gender, intelligence, nationality, etc will not be tolerated on
list. Offenders will be immediately barred from the list.
3. We request that off topic posts be kept off the list unless
approved in advanced by the list owners/moderators. Off topic posts
include, but are not limited to, jokes, virus alerts, television
shows, or anything else that is not game related. If you need
clarification or wish to obtain moderator approval regarding an off
topic post send an e-mail to:
gamers-ow...@usagamesinteractive.com
And your message request will be considered by the list owners/moderators.
4. When posting to the list we respectfully request that you proofread
your messages using a spell checker so that your posts are legible
and easy to read.
5. When posting to the list we request that all members refrain from
using profanity on list. By profanity we mean any words or expressions
that is generally viewed as socially unacceptable language. First time
offenders will be notified and warned off list by the list
owners/moderators. /Continued usage of profanity will result in
moderation or immediate dismissal from the list.
6. At no time will we allow list members to practice any form of
software piracy on list. Members caught in such illegal practices will
be immediately barred from the list with or without notice from the
list owner.
7. We respectfully request that all subject lines match the topic
being discussed. If the topic changes we request that you edit the
subject line in your e-mail client to match the new topic being
discussed.
8. We request that all members try to keep one line replies to a
minimum. Often times one line messages that just say I agree,
that's cool, I like that, etc don't offer much to the discussion
and only add to list traffic unnecessarily.

Signing Up:

If you wish to subscribe to the list you can send a blank e-mail, with
no subject line, to:
gamers-subscr...@usagamesinteractive.com
If you wish to unsubscribe from the list send a blank e-mail, with no

[Audyssey] a jaws question

2008-12-21 Thread alex wallis
hi list.
sorry I no this is a gaming list but wondering if someone could please advise
me about the following issue i'm experiencing with jaws ten the latest version.
before anyone suggests it I have already tried asking sight and sound tech
support about this issue but they appear to be morons and the guy i spoke to
had no idea.

basically the problem i'm experiencing particularly with long e mail messages
such as list digests
is if there is a bit of text I want to select for example a subject of a
message within the digest I want to reply to, I use shift and one of the arrow
keys to make my selection, and jaws reads it correctly. however then I do
control c to copy the text, and I then go and get completely the wrong bit of
text copied.
I also am some times experiencing this issue on web pages.
I am fairly sure its not corrupt jaws settings as I have heard of at least one
other person who is experiencing this.
so just wondering are other people noticing this issue, or have you solved it
and if so how?
as I am finding it very frustrating and annoying.

Re: [Audyssey] Smugglers4 Jaws compatibility updates

2008-12-21 Thread dark
Most certainly Yes, and absolutely, totally, completely, unassuredly,
sincerely, distinctly, deffinately, utterly, unreservedly yes!

smugglers 4 has even more replay value than S3, and that had a fair
amount (though could get a bit slow with the trading).

Sinse S4 is much more mission and battle based though if you want to go down
that route, everything in the game you play.

You can also vary things by the style you play, what profession and methods
you choose to use in the game etc.

go onto the game creddits page from the main menue and the version number is
listed at the bottom.

currently, the latest version (and the one which said patch will upgrade
to), is 1.1B.

Apparently the main version on the download site was changed to be the
latest, but if you downloaded the game this morning I'd check just to
be sure, afterall if you've stil got 1.1 you can just use the patch.

currently, the latest version (and the one which said patch will upgrade

Apparently the main version on the download site was changed to be the

Well unfortunately Jaws access to the game is stil being worked on.

The recent update was said to improve things though, though how well it
does I'm afraid I don't know, - actually with hal, everything in 1.1B
seems to look exactly the same way it did before.

Re: [Audyssey] Downloading Star Trek Final Conflict

2008-12-21 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,
Sounds good. I should bbe able to give you a download link for STFC
sometime today/tonight. I have just starteduploading all the files to
the USA Games web server and it should have most of the big stuff on
the server with in three or four hours. As for my scripts and web
pages that is another matter. Changing domains like I did resulted in
me having to do quite a bit of editing before I reupload those to the
server.

 Hi,
Well, with my games you need to try to have an up to date copy of the
Microsoft .NET Framework and a fairly new copy of Managed DirectX. In
STFC's case you need .NET Framework 3.0 or better and Managed DirectX
August 2007 or later. I know for certain Managed DirectX doesn't come
with Windows Update, at not the latest versions, and so even though it
might say you are up to date sometimes it is wrong.

before anyone suggests it I have already tried asking sight and sound tech

 had no idea.

basically the problem i'm experiencing particularly with long e mail
 messages such as list digests
is if there is a bit of text I want to select for example a subject of a
message within the digest I want to reply to, I use shift and one of the
arrow keys to make my selection, and jaws reads it correctly. however then I
do control c to copy the text, and I then go and get completely the wrong
 bit of text copied.
I also am some times experiencing this issue on web pages.
I am fairly sure its not corrupt jaws settings as I have heard of at least
one other person who is experiencing this.
so just wondering are other people noticing this issue, or have you solved
 it and if so how?
as I am finding it very frustrating and annoying.

Hi Charles,
Not that I am aware of. It is in the Shades of Doom 1.2 users guide. I
imagine GMA put it there for a reason, and I really like the f8 key.
Although, one difference with 1.2 and 1.0 is you no longer have to
remember which order the wafers go in as you can basically just look
it up after you get the experiment control box.

any issues you are encountering is do to Vista's broken VB 6

[Audyssey] my last message and thoughts about sd

2008-12-21 Thread Brandon Misch
Hey all. this may be my last message about sd for now. the game itself
works great but i don't think thekeygen works under vista. even
turnned uac off and it didn't help. just hopes that someone will fix
this issue by looking at the code for the keygen and making an updated
one for vista because i don't want to keep playing demo and i think
others who might want to use this game with vista wouldn't want to
play demo. if there is however a way to get the keygen working on
vista, that would be great to know. sorry about this thing about sd, i
just remember playing it on xp and would like to use it on vista but
can't because the game acts as if i enter an invalid id when i know i
didn't. well, going to send this now. sorry for the long e-mail.

Re: [Audyssey] the error i get when registering

2008-12-21 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Brandon,
Based on the error message this is definitely a VB6/Vista
compatibility issue. In short what it said to you is it was trying to
create some sort of game object and discovered there was a class
library missing. If you can figure out exactly what dll it is looking
for and install it I am sure it would work fine.

On 12/21/08, Brandon Misch bmisch2...@gmail.com wrote:
the error i get is runtime error 424 object required. that's after the
error about the product id not existing. thought you guys should know.

Re: [Audyssey] self destruct

2008-12-21 Thread Brandon Misch
i know. but i think it's a vista issue unless someone can say
differently it only happens when i load the keygen file. tried it with
uac enabled and disabled and with it disabled, nothing happened,
except when i went the long way around and even then, it failed. just
wish there was a keygen that was vista compliant but the demo still
works. wish someone could update the keygen to make it vista compliant.

Re: [Audyssey] my last message and thoughts about sd

2008-12-21 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Brandon,
Have you tried this yet? Run the kegen on your girl friends computer,
create yourself a valid key for Self-Destruct, and then try the new
key on your Vista machine. I know for certain those keys aren't
hardware specific and the key should work on any system once created.
Let me know how it goes.
Smile.

P.S.

Unless someone can get the original code for Self-Destruct and the
keygen i don't think that is going to happen. I'm not sure if anyone
has the source code, but if they did I am sure they could look into
it.
