[Audyssey] Coupling 2

2010-11-28 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi,

I have put a new file up on my site.

File name wincoup2.exe File size 6.2 meg.

In version 2 it now says the time in minutes and seconds rather than in decimal.
I also fixed a couple of bugs.

You do not need to un install version 1. Just run the wincoup2.exe file.
And it will not change the text files that you may have edited.

Coupling is a typical adult couples, board, dice or card game. It will say
things such as,
Jim you are to kiss Lisa's neck for 2 minutes.

You will be asked to enter the number of players, the name of each player and
specify the gender of each player.

You may edit the macts.txt, mparts.txt, wacts.txt and wparts.txt text files to
make the game into anything that you wish.

Please also feel free to add, delete or change the music wave files. Just name
the wave files couple*.wav. Of course replacing the * with numbers or letters.

variables,
integers, floats, and arrays.
The only algebra we did was called formulas.
For example, our formulas in the math class would look something like
this:
5[6 times 8]
This formula means that the sum inside the bracket is calculated and
then

the answer is multiplied with the figure outside the bracket.

[Audyssey] trouble installing ace fire

2010-11-28 Thread Ben Blatchford

Hello,

When I install ace fire on my windows vista 32 bit home premium
pc, The install goes fine, but when I try and run it, it says,
error accessing path slash directory. Ok button.
On the other hand, when I install it on my xp machine 32 bit, it
works fine. Can anybody try this on a vista machine and see if
you get the same results?

Thanks,

[Audyssey] bavisoft

2010-11-28 Thread NIcol
Hi all
I have been following numerous threads on this list about bavisoft and I am
fully aware that they are not in touch with the blind community.
But I decided to check out their website this afternoon just to see how
their website looks like.
And I got a warning telling me the website www.bavisoft.com contains
malware. I refrained from visiting the website for now.Is this really the
case?
I got to a google page that witnessed that they found malware on bavisoft on
22 november.
Do I need to take this warning seriously or can I ignore the warning?
Have anybody been on bavisoft's website lately?
If their site really contains malware, do you think that its their intention
to put malware on their site?
This google page said that in some cases, although the people owning the
website, did not intend to put malware on their site, other people may put
malware on the site.
I haven't heard any wicked things about bavisoft, only that they do not get
back to their customers.
I just thought of letting everybody know of this.
Happy gaming.

Re: [Audyssey] ace fire install problem

2010-11-28 Thread Damien Pendleton

Hi Ben,
It could be one of two things.
Either you do not have the VB Runtimes installed. If this is the case, you
can download them from
http://www.x-sight-interactive.net/xsight/temp/vbrun60sp6.exe. Once
downloaded, follow the prompts to install it. You may need to run it as an
administrator or similar.
Or, it could also be that you do not have the DX8VB.dll file. I am pretty
sure I fixed a bug with Acefire not installing this file onto Vista
machines. However, if not, you can download from
http://www.x-sight-interactive.net/xsight/temp/dx8vb.dll.
You then need to put this file in your Windows system directory and register
it. I'm not sure if Vista uses the same directory structure, but for example
you'd put dx8vb.dll into Windows\System32 and register using the command
regsvr32.exe /s dx8vb.dll.
If anybody else knows different then I stand corrected, but I'm pretty sure
that's how it's done.
Hope this helps out some.
Regards,
Damien.

Re: [Audyssey] new X-sight-interactive games?

2010-11-28 Thread Damien Pendleton

Alfredo,
Yes, I still plan to create the games detailed on my site.
Development has been rather slow recently because I have been busy with
other commitments, such as various other business arrangements. Also I have
recently received some rather sad news, so I have spent the most part of a
month dedicating my time to sorting that out.
It may be a fair while before anything of significance comes out as well,
since I am in the process of converting all my ideas from VB over to BGT.
I may be releasing a few simple games, but they won't be like the Superliam
or Judgment Day type just yet - I am still trying to figure out how to do
certain things and am still experimenting at the moment.
Since a lot of people didn't like the simplicity of Acefire I am trying to
make games that are more strategical, but they take a lot of thinking up.

Any ideas welcome.
Regards,
Damien.

 Alfredo,
Yes, I still plan to create the games detailed on my site.
 Regards,
 Damien.

[Audyssey] TDV help

2010-11-28 Thread Chad Fenton
Ok, all. I've taken out the chopppers in mission mode and was given
instructions to destroy the radar towers and then the suspension bridge.
If memory serves, I was around sector Zg19 to do this, as that is near
the power plant. However, I can't seem to find either the bridge or
radar towers. I've climbed to over 70,000 feet in an attempt to find
any of them with the radar, as this has proven useful in finding mission
objectives from great distances, but no luck. I've proceeded up through
sector ZP19 or so and haven't found anything. My rationale for going
forwards is that up till this point, everything in the mission has been
in sequence. The greater the letter, the further in the mission you
proceed. I don't know if this is a case where you have to backtrack to
sectors with a single letter designation to find the towers and bridge,
but any tips to finding them are appreciated.

Hi all,

This is a moderator warning that all, that means all, off topic
messages are not aloud on this list unless otherwise approved by a
moderator such as Raul or myself. Most of you have read the list
guidelines plenty of times to know this so this is the first and last
warning I'm going to issue on this. Future off topic messages with or
without the (ot) notice in the subject will result in the offending
party being immediately placed on moderated status until such time as
he/she can prove to us they will stick to the list guidelines.

Thanks.

Re: [Audyssey] bavisoft

2010-11-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Nicol,

Well, if you got a warning about some nasty malware on their website
it is probably true. However, that doesn't mean it was intentional or
even that Bavisoft knows about it. It simply could be that their
website host has poor security, the website was hacked, and malware
was planted by some unknown party. The thing to do is to report the
issue to Bavisoft, let them know what you found, and have them check
it out with their web host.

Cheers!

the last time I touched it it was last year.
nothing has been released, nothing has been communicated.

Oh well.

Guys,
IMHO, it is precisely this sort of critical attitude that causes game
developers to feel disheartened and want to stop developing games. It is
precisely those sorts of remarks and comments that put me off writing games
for a while after the Acefire performance.
If I remember rightly there was a time when the owner of Bavisoft himself
was part of the list, and he was getting flamed pretty badly. Yes that was a
while ago, but it still happened, and now it looks like he's disappeared off
the face of the earth, and they're still being flamed.
It was an attempt at marketing, and I believe a very good one. Considering
Grizzly Gulch and Chillingham were their very first games, I think they were
awesome. The only thing I'm slightly disappointed about is I don't think
we'll ever see the front cover of Chillingham II, let alone an audio
trailer.
They must have had a very good reason for not communicating any more. Things
happen in people's lives that consumers don't seem to think can happen to
businessmen. And although I don't personally know this Jeff Gibbons, I'm
sure all he had at heart were good intentions.

Just my opinion on the matter.

Re: [Audyssey] USA Blackjack 1.0 Released!

2010-11-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Nicol,

Okay? Well, I can say right off that creating Algebra formulas is a
key part of programming. A formula like
p = 2l+2w
would calculate the perimitor of a square or rectangle. For example,
if we are getting into graphics programming an indepth knowledge of
basic geometry is essentual in order to render the graphics on screen
properly using those formulas.

Anyway, another key concept that carries over is variables which was
definitely covered in my Algebra class. In the formula
p = 2l+2w
the letters p, l, and w are variables because we don't know what
numbers/values they contain yet. They are just substitutions or place
holders so to speak. Now, if we assume l is 10 and w is 5 we now get a
rectangle 10 units long by 5 units wide. We can now do the formula by
calculating 2 times l plus 2 times w. After we work the formula we
find out that p, the perimitor, is 30.

The point I want to get at here is that in any type of programming we
use variables to hold values of a keyboard command, numbers, strings,
whatever until they are needed. If we don't know what a certain value
is we can work a formula to find that out. Understanding variables,
therefore, is critical to even beginning to think about programming,
because variables are used to store information until it is needed by
the program, or use to substitute a value that we don't know yet.
That's why I'm saying that at least high school Algebra is pretty much
essential to beginning programming.

When it comes to game programming it is more so. You have all kinds of
formulas such as how to calculate the distance an object has traveled
in a certain amount of time, calculating where the objects next
location on the grid is, etc. There are hundreds of calculations that
goes into any complex game and it requires some kind of familiarity
with those concepts before beginning.

You made a very interesting point.
I never knew before that a lot of programming concepts comes from the grade
9 algebra. I also did algebra in grade 9 but we were never taught variables,
 integers, floats, and arrays.
The only algebra we did was called formulas.
For example, our formulas in the math class would look something like this:
 5[6 times 8]
This formula means that the sum inside the bracket is calculated and then
the answer is multiplied with the figure outside the bracket.

2010-11-28 Thread Damien Pendleton

Hi Laurie,
Under normal circumstances I quite agree. But sometimes I think people
forget that most of these so-called companies are run by one person with
possibly a bunch of friends helping out with sounds and voices. If the
programming, web maintenance and whole company management is all taken on by
one person, it does become a problem if that person has had some issues with
whatever for whatever reason. But in my opinion nobody is to blame for that.
That is of course unless someone decides they can't be bothered to do any
more maintenance or even tell anybody. That is wrong. But if something has
generally got in the way of developing - if he's turned out ill for whatever
reason, or something has genuinely happened to stop him from doing anything,
then I don't believe he should be getting the backfire he is currently
getting.

Regards,
Damien.

Hi Phil,

Yes, the entire coupling game is progressive. It starts out with the first
parts and acts and shorter times and progresses with all of them. But it can
still pick from the first or shorter.

The couple5.wav file is from an adult movie. They are playing an adult version
of musical chairs.

I have lots and lots of adult movies in mp3 and a few that are even described for the
blind. It's just hard work to listen to them for games like spanker and coupling
etc. grin

Thanks Phil, glad you like the time better in seconds.

Hi Alfredo,

The setup.exe program in my winkit.zip file is a full Microsoft Windows

WinZip self extracting zip files that unzip the game files to the c:\program

installs a game menu system that then launches the rest of my games that get
unzipped into the kitchensinc folder.

I hope that helps.

Hi Alfredo,

The setup.exe program in my winkit.zip file is a full Microsoft Windows
install program. The rest of my game files such as wincoup2.exe are just
WinZip self extracting zip files that unzip the game files to the c:\program
files\kitchensinc folder that the winkit setup creates. The winkit setup
also installs a game menu system that then launches the rest of my games
that get unzipped into the kitchensinc folder.

I hope that helps.

Hi Phil,

Yes, the entire coupling game is progressive. It starts out with the first
parts and acts and shorter times and progresses with all of them. But it
can still pick from the first or shorter.

The couple5.wav file is from an adult movie. They are playing an adult
version of musical chairs.

I have lots and lots of adult movies in mp3 and a few that are even
described for the blind. It's just hard work to listen to them for games
like spanker and coupling etc. grin

Thanks Phil, glad you like the time better in seconds.

right and throw my ball straight. Just with practice and knowing where which
pins are, when they tell me which pins are left I can count clicks and throw my

Re: [Audyssey] WII Bowling

2010-11-28 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi Charles,

In WII Sports resorts a right hand bowler starts straight in front of the 6
pin. I do a couple of clicks to the left and throw a hook ball for my strike
ball. So I just throw straight at the 6 pin. I move 3 clicks to the right for
a 6 and 10 or just the 10 and throw straight. For a 7 I move all of the way to
the left and move 4 clicks to the right and throw straight. 7 clicks from the
left for a 4. 10 clicks from the left for a 4 5 or 5 10 split. Some times I
get them and some times I don't. It is hard to throw perfectly straight. But
I would guess that there might be about 25 clicks from right to left or left to
right.

Hope that was the kind of answer that you were asking for.

Re: [Audyssey] bavisoft

2010-11-28 Thread Bryan Peterson
No they haven't. About the only time you hear anything from them is if you
post on the AudioGames.net forum suggesting that cracking the games and
distributing them as freeware would be better than the current state of
things since some people haven't been receiving orders they placed and are
understandably frustrated about this. And Bavisoft's only response is along
the lines of please do not do this. But it's as has been suggested on the
forums numorous times. Most people nowadays have faster internet
connections, meaning that Bavisoft could easily make their games available
for download. And they definitely need to start thinking about incorporating
actual playablee demos of their games since I'm sorry but not everybody's
going to be able to make a judgement based simply on an audio recording or
review. So that was rather poor marketing in my book. After all no one wants
to buy a game and find it won't run on their system. I understand those
games have trouble running on newer operating systems, so there's a problem
right there.

Hi Damien,
Oh, I agree. But I do think there's valid grounds for questioning. For
example, Bavisoft simply vanished, but let's take Jason Allen. He's
explained in most part why this orthat could not be done, or why hewasn't
goingto bedeveloping it to do constraints. I don't believe Bavisoft has
really done that.

I have aquired all bavisoft's games or rather borrowed them from somewhere.

However although I only heard from rumour they didn't last long, I

Having no demos is bad enough well playable demos but not updating in
the face of new tech is just poor judgement, I mean everyone else is,

then keeping up with the gamer trends, ie random generation of
things custom levels, 3d play and a couple things would be nice.

I mean this is not windows 95 anymore.
its truth also.
THis is not a flame.
And now they are gone for who knows how long.

management is all taken on by one person, it does become a problem
if that person has had some issues with whatever for whatever

course unless someone decides they can't be bothered to do any more
maintenance or even tell anybody. That is wrong. But if something

to heck with what people say! If there's more people who love the
games than don't then you've got something worth fighting for, but
to just completely vanish is quite disappointing, especially to new
gamers who don't know the score, it reflects badly on the company
if you just exit quickly without a reason.

Guys,
IMHO, it is precisely this sort of critical attitude that causes
game developers to feel disheartened and want to stop developing
games. It is precisely those sorts of remarks and comments that
put me off writing games for a while after the Acefire performance.
If I remember rightly there was a time when the owner of Bavisoft
himself was part of the list, and he was getting flamed pretty
badly. Yes that was a while ago, but it still happened, and now it
looks like he's disappeared off the face of the earth, and they're
still being flamed.
It was an attempt at marketing, and I believe a very good one.
Considering Grizzly Gulch and Chillingham were their very first
games, I think they were awesome. The only thing I'm slightly
disappointed about is I don't think we'll ever see the front cover
of Chillingham II, let alone an audio trailer.
They must have had a very good reason for not communicating any
more. Things happen in people's lives that consumers don't seem to
think can happen to businessmen. And although I don't personally
know this Jeff Gibbons, I'm sure all he had at heart were good intentions.

Just my opinion on the matter.
Regards,
Damien.

well if this all they do then they have a problem.
as for cracking their games, its really not hard to do.
in fact if someone gives you the disks then you have the game

If what you say is true then they are pethetic.
in fact why are we wasting our time.
At 02:08 p.m. 29/11/2010, you wrote:
No they haven't. About the only time you hear anything from them is
if you post on the AudioGames.net forum suggesting that cracking the
games and distributing them as freeware would be better than the
current state of things since some people haven't been receiving
orders they placed and are understandably frustrated about this. And
Bavisoft's only response is along the lines of please do not do
this. But it's as has been suggested on the forums numorous times.
Most people nowadays have faster internet connections, meaning that
Bavisoft could easily make their games available for download. And
they definitely need to start thinking about incorporating actual
playablee demos of their games since I'm sorry but not everybody's
going to be able to make a judgement based simply on an audio
recording or review. So that was rather poor marketing in my book.
After all no one wants to buy a game and find it won't run on their
system. I understand those games have trouble running on newer
operating systems, so there's a problem right there.

Personally if it were me I'd keep going with my game creating and
to heck with what people say!

And although I don't personally
know this Jeff Gibbons, I'm sure all he had at heart were good
intentions.
Just my opinion on the matter.
Regards,
Damien.

Hi Charles,

Good job! Now, you have to play for the $25,000 jackpot. I've already

[Audyssey] Important Announcement

2010-11-28 Thread Thomas Ward
Hello USA Games customers,

We have now fixed the USA Games mail server, and have corrected the
issue with gmail accounts and subscriptions. We are now about to move
the accounts from Google Groups back to the USA Games mail server. You
won't have to do anything, but we just wanted to let you know that we
will be making the switch very shortly. Once you get your subscription
confirmation you will be able to send messages to
gam...@usagamesinteractive.com
and we prefer you make this change in your addressbook as soon as
possible. After a day or two we plan to shutdown the Google Groups
list as we will hopefully bbe running everything from our own servers
once again.

Cheers!

While I agree Muhammed's comments might have been a bit strong, I will say I
have very litle respect for a company who are so terrible at filling orders,

The amount of times some poor person has turned up on the audiogames.net

showed up and all their mail to bavisoft bounces is actually quite
staggering!

Heck, the only time I've ever seen a peep out of them for the past three
years is when someone suggests their games sould be released as abandonware.

not a seasons greetings, not a word, nada!

In fact it wouldn't surprise me if this virus was simply a result of
bavisoft not updating their security software or site.

The really sad thing is, their games were very well produced for what they
were. The acting was good, and though they have no lastbility whatosever,
when they were produced in 2004 they were pretty advanced.

Of course now, they do look a bit second wrate, but that's because things
have moved on.

I'd be extremely pleased if bavisoft proved me wrong, released another fully
updated modern game and fixed their problems, but as it is I don't have much
respect for the company.

As for cryticism, I do try to keep what I say at least constructive, though
in Bavisoft's case they've never listened to me anyway.

heck, the gm of the chronicals of arborell went on a year's absense because

Hi Hayden,
Like I said. I don't believe anyone should be getting flamed.
Regards,
Damien.

Hi Damien,
While I think your standpoint might be a little harsh, I must agree. This
thread has some great stuff, if you're into flamatory comments.

Best Regards,
Hayden

I havn't touched their site for ages.
the last time I touched it it was last year.
nothing has been released, nothing has been communicated.
their games exist if you know where to get them.
If they are hacked and they probably are then it serves them right.
They didn't really do to much for us and now they get it.
Oh well.
I wouldn't even bother going back.
No communications = no existance at all as far as I care.

I got to a google page that witnessed that they found malware on bavisoft

Do I need to take this warning seriously or can I ignore the warning?
Have anybody been on bavisoft's website lately?
If their site really contains malware, do you think that its their

This google page said that in some cases, although the people owning

I haven't heard any wicked things about bavisoft, only that they do not

I just thought of letting everybody know of this.
Happy gaming.

They also stated that they got too many gameplay related questions, and I

Apparently they either haven't heard this or their spam filter is crap,
because that was their reason behind not receiving Emails, because the
mailbox was full of spam.

Cheers!
