2017-02-04 Thread Richard Sherman
Hi,
yep. that is the right shop. but won't do you any good to go there till the
mage in the fire plane says to do so. According to the quest line you have
to kill the rebel leader first before the mage will tell you to go to gads.

I think you need to head to gads and head north to the 4 way stop just
before the mage school trainer and then head east 2 times and then north I
believe. there is a shop keeper that you talk to and I believe he gives you
the tracer crystals. then you head back to the fire world, give the tracer
to the gate keeper and he takes one and you get the other. then you have to
hike back to the village on the fire world and give the crystal you still
have to the black robed mage in the north most hut and you have completed
the quest, unless the admins have altered the quest since I last did it.

Re: [Audyssey] Alteraeon Kinzhay quest

2017-02-03 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,
ok. just finished it.

1. as you enter talk to mage.

2. he send you to find the team. when you talk to the mage in the camp he
says he needs another tracer and has a problem with rebels. If you look at
the short it says to kill rebel leader. so go kill him.

3. after you kill him it says to go and talk to mage at gate.

4. talk to mage at gate. he sends you to gads for another crystal.

5. go to gads and get crystal. then return to mage on fire plane.

6. he gives you a tracer you have to bring to the mage in the camp.

when you give the new tracer to the mage in the camp the quest is done.

hope this helps.

Hi Richard.

If there is a clue about kinzhay I must be very dense, since the researcher
said there were two problems, the loss of the crystal and the rebels, so I
assumed to deal with the crystal first as I hadn't been told to go and kill
the rebels.

There isn't really an indication of which first, but I suppose I can go
massacre the rebels and see if that helps since they manifestly don't want
the crystal.

All the best,

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] Alteraeon Kinzhay quest

2017-02-02 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,
been a while since I did the fire world quest, so here goes. first ya talk
to the man by the portal as you enter. Then find the tea. I think he asks
for a new one. go back to mage and he sends ya to gads for another one.
return that one to the leader of the research team. some where in there he
tells ya to go kill the rebel leader.

as for Asryth. There is basically 2 areas to that one area there. The main
level has 2 fame I believe and no quests or deeds for them. Not all fame has
a deed related to it. But the fruit deed you did introduced you to the area.
in a back hallway is a down exit and some jail cells. explore if you want.
go down one more level and there are 2 sarcophagus to get some gold out of.
go down one more and your in the catacombs of asryth. Believe this area is
instanced so take your time and explore a bit. There is about 4 fame and one
deed in this area. As you go north in one spot after going down a level or 2
you run into a single mob before a down exit. his name is fil. talk to him
and get quest.

Good luck with those. And if ya need help in game look me up for answers.

Also it doesn't matter your level. the minimum you will ever get for a deed
is cap. so running those low level deeds is good. and also note that a few
areas in and around gads is being reworked so a few of the quest line in
and around gads is broken for the time being.

and just in case you, or anyone didn't know this. but if your a mush z user
you can type qt, and the island name to see what quests need to be done on
those areas. so type qt sloe, qt kordan, or qt archais to see what deeds are
left to do. if your not a mush z user then type quest sloe|grep TODO (note
the todo is all in caps) to see what is to be done on sloe. change out sloe
for the other islands to see a list of to do quests.

Hi.

I decided I needed a break from the undead drow city so went off to do some
other quests.
First up is the fire world of Kinzhay and the quest to find a lost research
team, however I'm running into a rather odd problem.

The black mage in the village told me that the research team was stuck
because the rebellion was blocking the way, and because they didn't have a
new tracer crystal to get back.

So, first I recalled to the gate keeper to ask about a new tracer crystal.
He however is giving me the self same speech he gave first time around,
that the research mission is missing, though oddly enough he's saying he'll
replace my tracer crystal if I give him 250 gold, which is rather odd since
he hasn't given me the first one yet.
Someone on the questinfo channel did say I had to go and talk to a mage in
gad's but that just seems weerd when I'd not been told to by the research
party, particularly since it would be easier to get the crystal from the
gate keeper.

I also have one unrelated question about azeroth keep.

i went in there and did the fruit negotiation quest, however that barely
scratched the surface. "where fame" tells me there are things in there to
slay, but it seems odd there are no deeds at least involving them.
Any chance an extra deed could be added? I'm not above going in there just
to explore and get monsters, but I do like getting all the achievements,
indeed I'll probably head back to kordan just to do the newly added quest
even though it's way below my level at this point and I won't get much
for it, since I like completing all the quests.

All the best,

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] Castaways 2 help

2017-02-02 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,
couple things about castaways 2.

1. Its still in beta as far as I know.

2. the online development was done to a greater degree than single player
mode. so not all the kinks worked out for single player.

There is a couple things you can do:

1. reload the game. the map is random each time so look at the terrain
before you start building.

2. There are a couple cheat codes you can enter to gain a few things, money,
branches, stones to name a few. Think those codes are some where in a read
me file.

As for extra goods not showing up, that's highly possible

[Audyssey] 10 years of IGDA Game Accessibility Special Interest Group Survey at GDC

2015-02-10 Thread Richard van Tol
Hi guys,

This year I'll be attending the Game Developers Conference in San
Francisco, where I'll be participating in a Panel Discussion on the subject
of 10 years of game accessibility. Here's a description of what it will be
about:

*quote*

In the ten years that the IGDA's accessibility group has been running we
have seen many advances in the field, with awareness growing, and more and
more developers considering accessibility for gamers with disabilities. But
there's a long way to go, with work still needed to remove barriers in
areas such as hardware, software, third party tools, online communities,
education and policy. We will be taking a retrospective of some of the key
achievements and developments over the past ten years, and with your input,
also look at the next important areas to focus on, providing a roadmap of
how all of us can help the industry move towards greater inclusion,
allowing the entertainment and quality of life benefits of gaming to reach
even wider audiences.

*quote end*

For this Panel session we would love your input! We have designed a tiny
survey (just 4 questions!) on your view of the past 10 years of accessible
gaming, as well as a possible way forward. We kindly request everyone to
please take 5 minutes to fill in this survey. The results will be presented
on the 5th of March during the Panel Discussion, as well as in a printed
hand-out. Of course we will share the results through this list too!

Please use the following link to access the survey:

http://goo.gl/forms/fp7rSOZldR

Should you be in the vicinity of San Francisco in the week of the 2nd of
March and you would like to meet up with members of the GA-SIG, gamers and
other GA-enthusiasts, check out the following schedule:

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/gdc-accessibility-drinks-tickets-15589776441

Thank you very very much for filling out the survey!

[Audyssey] Board Games: Now Blind Accessible

2014-04-04 Thread Richard Gibbs
I thought that my Kickstarter might be of particular interest to this
group, especially considering the overlap between iOS games and board games

It is my hope that as a side benefit I'll be able to raise awareness of the
importance of including voice over in games. It's absurd that turn based
video games based on board games don't have VoiceOver.

That is it, however note that the cargo you find is of the very expensive
sort, weapons, electronics and artifacts. The more crew you commit the more

 Hi Shane.

Looting ships works very much the same way that exploring, harvesting, or
 indeed trading do.

When you hit the loot cargo button you will be presented with a list of
cargo types. flicking through them you'll find something like Water-fuel
 10
 0, Lux food 5 0, crystals 0 6 etc.

Each of the names of the goods such as water-fuel or crystals is a button
 to
click on, and the two numbers after refer to what is in your ship's hold
 and
what is available to take. Just so long as you remember the first number
after each button as you flick through is the quantity in your hold and
 the
second is the amount you can take you should be fine.

To actually do the looting, it's very similar to buying stuff. You hit the
button and then have a screen with the numbers in hold and available, and
 a
slider, this is where what I was saying earlier about the sliders comes
 into
play. set the slider to %100, you grab everything, set it to %0, you drop
everything. So if you have 6 lux food in your ship and there is 4
available to take the slider will start at %60 since you currently have
 %60
of the available amount. bang it up to %100 to grab the other four.

the only other thing to note is that sometimes, when you have four or
 less
of a given good available, simply flicking up and down the slider won't do
it. In these situations you need to double tap on the slider and then
 slide
your finger across the screen. Go all the way right to set to %100, or all
the way left to set to %0.

Actually I've taken to using the double tap and slide method myself
regularly, since it is a far quicker way to instantly set a slider to one
end or the other and most of the time I want to take everything or sell
 everything.

 Btw, the fastest way

[Audyssey] Star Traders

2014-02-10 Thread Richard Claridge
Hi all.
I just had a couple of questions regarding this game, to see if others had the
same experiences as me.
Firstly are people able to read the notifications that regularly pop up on the
screen, because I cannot. My friend who plays the game on android says that
these are quite important in many situations and I can see that they pop-up
on-screen, but cannot read them either by site or with voice over.
Secondly when a combat situation pops up are people able to see the level of
the opponent, again my friend says that the android version has this, but I
cannot see it on my iPhone version. I would've thought this was quite important
to see the level of enemy you're up against.
Thirdly the log always appears to be empty for me no matter what I do, and my
friend has told that on android this is a very interesting screen which
basically tells you what you doing. I know that this game on the iPhone has
only recently had the accessibility updates, but I was wondering if others were
aware of these and Had made the developer aware, especially as I have Had my
head bitten off for previously asking people to contact the developer.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi all.
I have found a workaround, not ideal, but manageable to help in working out
distances for locations on the navlist.
Unfortunately it does involve a bit of faffing, as you have to select one of
the locations and then at the top of your screen where it has the date it will
have the distance to that location.
Hope this is helpful and I have explained it okay.

ships and not when exploring or harvesting unfortunately.

Well basically the way the unlocks work is by earning awards at difficulties
 of hard or greater, see
 http://www.tresebrothers.com/star-traders-player-guide/ for the full list.
I must confess since I was having so much trouble with the game I did buy
the unlock, which is bad and will try to earn more awardsbut while it's
helped with several things such as a better starting ship, it's not solved
the problem I'm having with faction ranks.

Maybe I should down grade from normal to easy :d.

what I did since the game is hardly expensive and it's certainly my sort

It's got a nav helper accessed through the menue which gives you a list of
planets to travel to, which works well.

I'm still figuring out the game and how everything works, but I like what
I've seen thus far, certainly worth the three dolars for the elite version,
although there is a free version as well (I bought the elite straight off
since this is just my sort of game).

The game is sort of similar to smugglers or core exiles in that you fly
around with a spaceship, there are a number of factions who have wars, you
have a crew and engage in space combat. The difference is that the universe
is rather like the dune books by Frank herbert, galactic houses and politics
along with sindicates, there are lots of different things to do, exploring
planets, lots of ship combat, boarding and capturing ships and a lot more,
indeed I'm only just starting on the game myself.

one thing that I do like the look of is that rather than you just grinding
away at the same resource trading, you actually need to research where things
are needed for yourself, which makes the game quite unique, as does the fact
that while there ar elots of ships and upgrades to buy and awards to earn,
the game is pretty open ended.

It looks highly interesting and I'd advise any rpg fans to give it a try.

[Audyssey] Star Tradors

2013-12-14 Thread Richard Claridge
Hi all.
I have been interested in discussions about Mac vs Windows and iPhone
vs Android for quality and quantity of games. I have been meaning to
contact the list for a while with this game and a question.
Star Tradors is a game where you take command of a space craft and
crew and have to complete contracts for various factions often against
each other. The game involves resource management, exploration of the
galaxy, and balancing the feelings of various warring factions towards
you. It seems to be a very deep game with a lot to do and good
replayability as you can play as a number of charactor types with
varying advantages and disadvantages such as bounty hunter, merchant
and pirate. Also you can choose different ships with different
charactoristics making each game different.
However the game has been made accessible on android but not on
iPhone. A friend of mine who is an android user was in contact with
the developer to help make it accessible so I have followed his lead
by contacting them about the iPhone version hoping that it would be
relatively simple to port code over or make similar changes to the
iPhone version to make it similarly accessible.
The developer seemed positive on initial communication but has been
quiet over the last 3 months since I contacted him. So I emailed him
again yesterday and got a quick reply, as I always have from him, but
not saying much other than that he is working on it.
The thing I found very interesting about the whole thing is that he
said they focus on their android version of the game as their android
sales far outweigh their iPhone sales. I told him that if the game
became accessible I would imagine he would see a reasonably large
influx of purchases by blind iPhone users as we are always looking for
good deep iPhone games that are accessible.
I was therefore wondering if any other iPhone users would drop him an
eMail to enquire about the possibility of making the iPhone version
accessible in the same way as the android one.
The problem I have is not having an android device I cannot see what
has been done on there to make the game work.
the developer is Trese Brothers, and the eMail address is cory.tr...@gmail.com
Thanks to anyone who can be of assistance in making this game accessible.
Richard

[Audyssey] Board games

2013-12-14 Thread Richard Claridge
Hi all.
I cannot remember if the discussion of board games is relevant to this
list, so apologies if I have overstepped the mark.
I live in a household with all blind adults but sighted children so I
have a question in a couple of parts. Firstly does anyone know any
good board games, mainstream as braille games are extremely limited
and I| think we have them all, that can easily be adapted to make them
playable by a blind person. I have bought a number of games and made
them accessible by using my penfriend on cards, or using a braille
letter system and then a key of the cards on a seperate reference
sheet.
SImilarly I have labeled squares on boards in the same way, as well as
using sticky velcrow dots on the squares and underside of playing
pieces to great effect.
I wanted to know if anyone had any good family or older games that
could be easily adapted in this way.
Secondly to Dark, you mentioned adapting the game Atmosfear which is a
game I really want to buy but haven't taken the plunge and I haven't
been sure if it would be possible to adapt it easily.
How did you find doing this and was the game any good and playable for
blind people?
Thanks all for any advice.

Re: [Audyssey] What ever happened to extant

2013-10-15 Thread Richard (AudioGames.net)

Hi guys,

Yes, we do check this place, but no offence taken (smile).

Thanks for asking this question. Sander and I have been busy with a lot
of things with our company Creative Heroes (http://creativehero.es) and
Extant was shelved because of other projects and priorities
(unfortunately we do not have all the freedoms we had as students
anymore (smile)).

That said, we never stopped discussing the possibilities of a full game.
You might also remember us asking this community for input on what you
guys want a while back. We also closely monitored the developments
related to the excellent Swamp and other audio games. More recently, we
have put Extant back on the agenda as our potential next project. This
is because we believe the premise of Extant is quite cool and it is
really the type of project we want to be doing :-) And we've had some
nice ideas taking Extant up a few levels. We don't want to create
another zombie shooter (by the way: who ever said it Extant featured
zombies...?) but to create a exciting and deep survival experience (and
maybe leave out zombies altogether ).

We are definitely interested in doing a Kickstarter or Indiegogo- type
crowdfunding of some sorts to realize such a project. But we want to be
very careful with that, as there are quite a few things to consider with
such an approach. Also, before such an venture, two important steps need
to be made:

1) we need to know what we want Extant to be
2) we need to know what you want Extant to be

We think the premise of Extant has potential, but do you think so too?
What would you like to play? What do you love about Extant, what do you
miss or don't like? On what preferred platform would you like to play
Extant (desktop, mobile)? And, harsh but realisticly, what would you be
willing to pay for such an experience?

So again: thanks for asking this question (good timing!). What are your
ideas?

Best regards,

Richard

Extant was fineish when we were getting started.
As a starting block I think it was good because it kept people interested.
Now its totally crap and useless though saying that not much of the

I am not sure of its place though.

Hi,

Aside from what I wrote earlier, at the moment we're mostly exploring
new gameplay ideas for Extant and ways of setting up a viable Extant
project, as well as exploring additional technology such as multiuser
server technology (again in combination with gameplay ideas).

Best regards,

Re: [Audyssey] SoundRTS.

2013-09-22 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

trial and error is one way. See what works for your type of game play. There
is no one way to play this game.

I try to get the gold mined as quickly as possible while getting my
population up. when I can, I build minor defenses to protect myself.
Peasants fighting does not work.

Then start searching if you can. find the gold mines and get as much as you
can out of them as quickly as possible. Because the more you have the less
they do.

If your people get hurt heal them. easier to heal then to create new ones.

Hi Dark,

I strongly doubt they can do anything on their end since the problem
isn't Audiogames.net per say. I have Firefox on two different machines
and have no problems with the site on either one. So I can safely
conclude it is not Audiogames.net. It sounds to me something is wrong
with Richard's copy of Firefox as that seems to be the only logical
conclusion I can see here.

[Audyssey] problem accessing audiogames.net with firefox

2013-08-10 Thread Richard Sherman
Hello,

Using firefox version 22 on a windows 7 ultimate machine and jaws 13.

However I do believe this started before updating to version 22. I think i
had either version 17 or 19 at the time.

for about a month now I have not been able to access any part of
audiogames.net. The error message I get is:

403 Forbidden

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /listgames.php on this server.

Apache/2.2.16
(Debian) Server at audiogames.net Port 80

I have tried typing it it manually or going thru a google search with no
luck. Ran clean up to remove all temp files and still no go.

Strange thing is that IE 9 will bring up the site with no problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

HI,

The first thing you can try is to run the bat file as administrator. Right
click on it and select run as administrator.

If that does not work. Then read the readme file and it will explain step by
step how to manually do what the bat file was supposed to do.

Give that a try. If it still fails write back or drop Aprone a message

Re: [Audyssey] The missing needle

2013-05-03 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

I don't believe there was an answer posted about this.

The hidden gardens are north west of Vermarken. A bit north of the hay
stacks. Only 1 way in an and out of the gardens. Easy to find. A little hint
here. There are 2 parts to the garden. Search both for all the things you
need to complete the quest.

One other thing to note here. There is a quest in the area of the haystacks.
Talk to someone near the hay for it.

Three in game commands that may help just in case you did not know about
them.

The first command is nearby. This will tell you where some things are. Keep
in mind it is as the crow flies, not a direct route. But use it to navigate
to the area you seek.

Two is the command quest nearby. this way you can determine if any quests
are in the area you are currently in. Not all quests are where you talk to
someone and then get a quest. Sometimes it is you do something first and
then talk to a person to get credit for it.

the third one is also a quest command. But you would type in quest slow.
What this does it to give you a list of all the quests on the island of slow
and whether or not you did them or not. Helps you keep track of which ones
need to be done.

For more info on the quest command, type in help quest in the game. The help
system in the game is exemplary.

Hope this info helps.

Re: [Audyssey] Help in the ruins.

2013-05-03 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

You probably already figured this out, but just in case.

What to do in those 3 last rooms depends on what quest you are doing. If it
is the evil side just Kill the guy you find in the spider chamber. Get his
head and take it to the chief.

If it is the good one and you need the teddy bear, also just follow what it
says. Kill the chief, collect the bear, and return it to the girl.

Also just in case you did not know. use the quest extra # command. The # is
the number of the specific quest you need to review again. it will tell you
everything about the quest so you can listen to it again to refresh your
memory on what you did or need to do.

Again, if you need any further help, do not forget about the help system in
the game. Also there is the newbie channel you can post questions to in the
game for assistance.

HTH. Good luck.

Re: [Audyssey] newbee ox?

2013-05-03 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

I see you already got an answer to this.

I do have 2 suggestions:

1. Use the help system in the game. Dennis has put a lot of time into it and
it is well worth it. I commend him on an excellent help system. Just type in
help, a space, and what you want help with.

2. use the newbie channel. It is there so you might as well use it. Just
type in newbie first, a space, and then ask your question. Many helpful
people there. Who knows. You might even get a god to answer you.

My reason for posting this is to help you get an answer as quicly as
possible. Since the help system is so good, and you are right there, you
just might get an answer much faster than posting it here.

If all else fails, ask here or join the alter group. That group is thru
Google. The subcription address is

alteraeon+subscr...@googlegroups.com.

Good luck. HTH.

Re: [Audyssey] Getting the key to the lockbox?

2013-05-03 Thread Richard Sherman
Hi,

many times in a room, there are multiple items red off to you. This is one
such place. In that room are multiple piles of trash. So to look at pile 2,
you would type in l 2.pile, and so on. what you seek is under one of those
piles.

One thing I have learned is that 99% of the time, what the game tells you,
it is because it is relevant to to the game. So you have to listen carefully
to what is said. many times it takes a look, a search, a push, a move, and
then you get your answer. So don't give up. That is the fun of the
exploration.

BTW, I never stole the money. I gave the priest the key. And it took me a
while to find the shrew and find the key. perseverance will pay off

Re: [Audyssey] Getting the key to the lockbox?

2013-05-03 Thread Richard Sherman
Hi,

congrats.

As for the dragon, I have a suggestion. Group with someone who also has to
do the quest. Since there is nothing to get but kill the lady, all the
members of the group get credit for the kill. Plus groups tend to get more
exp and then you don't have to go it alone. A win win situation.

If the quest is something you need to collect to prove your quest. Tag with
someone,, complete it once, then go back later after it repops. Quest should
be easier the second time so it should go faster. Then you know what you
need to do or not do. Again, a win win situation.

Good luck.

HI,

Not a single problem with working alone. But keep in mind that in many
occasions you get more exp working in groups. And later on the quests and
monsters get tougher so grouping is advised.

Re: [Audyssey] Help starting a couple quests.

2013-05-03 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

One thing that might help is to check out the web at

http://alteraeon.com:8080/quests

This might give you some info on quests.

The 2 quests are:

1. The kitten. It is being held by a character named Roy. He is hidden so
you will have to search for him.

2. The lost boy. The boy will find you, or you will find him. Once he starts
to follow you, find his mother. When he walks in the room you will know it.

I have put spoilers below to further explain how the quests go if you should
wish to know.

One nice thing about that town is if you have the lock pick skill. Use it
lots there to improve it since most of the doors there are locked.

good luck.

Now that the formalities are over with. Proceed at your own risk.

For the kitten quest with Roy. He is just inside the entrance at the north
side of the town. just north of the docks. When you find him, just type in
Oz kit. If you are good, the cat will be set free. If you are evil, you will
bite the head off.

The lost Childs mother is up the hill to the west. Walk in and it should say
a mother with her kids. The house has a door broken that cannot be shut.

I'm inBandera Azul i Alter Aeon and I'm having trouble finding who to
talk to to start a couple quests. I completed the one where I teach the
punk kid a lesson, but I can't seem to find the one about finding the
lost child and the one about the kitten. Of course I'll be taking the
good path for both (and anyway being a cat person in real life I could
never imagine eating one). But since most everybody in that village
speaks Spanish or an approximation thereof I'm not sure what to do. I
posted on the Newbie channel but all tey said was tat important people
speak English. The problem is I found maybe two or three such people and
none of them seem related to these two quests.

Re: [Audyssey] enabling output window in mush z

2013-04-12 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

Great suggestion. So I did look in the output_functions.xml file. It does
appear that in there you can change the keys to enable, or toggle, the
output window.

Also looked around at some of the other xml files in there. One of the files
in the plug in folder was CaptureMudOutput.xml. This was written by Shawn
Randall. It says that if you type in 'cmo', in lower case and no quotes or
anything it will also enable a output window. So I tested it and it works
just fine. One thing I did notice is that when you exit and come back you
have to re-enable the output window. So another great work around.

thanks.

You switch windows with control and tab. This works for all
windows you have open, including muds and outputs. I would
imagine it's possible to change the key to enable and disable the
output window, though I can't tell you how at the moment. You'd
have to look in the output_functions.xml file.

Re: [Audyssey] enabling output window in mush z

2013-04-11 Thread Richard Sherman
Hi Dark,

In my case, I can turn the output window on and off using control alt O. So
I went into mush z and poked around even more than before asking my
question.

Here is what I have under the window menu without the output window enabled:

New Window
Cascade
Tile Horizontally
Tile Vertically
Arrange Icons
Minimize Shift+Ctrl+M
Close All Notepad Windows
Maximize
Restore
1 alter

When I enable the output window it has a 2 output listed. But under no menu
option that I can find is to enable the output window. If i select new
window it just makes another copy of the alter window.

Anyone else got any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I indeed have the same issue since I have ctrl alt o as a shortcut to open

an option for output which will open the output window in whatever text

not to close it.

Hope you can help.

Using the latest build of mush z. Those who use it know that you can press

I have a friend who has control alt O set to open another program. Either he
doesn't want to change it or cannot find where the hot key is set I don't

Is there a way to enable that window without pressing control alt O?

Re: [Audyssey] Error when trying to launch entombed.

2013-04-04 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

Strangely enough, someone on the entombed mailing list is havign possibly
the same problem. So I have pasted the solution below:

You're likely missing the SQL Compact 3.5 SP2. First, you have to uninstall
the version that 1.02x installed, likely SQL Compact 3.5 SP1. Then you have
to download the newer version from Microsoft and install the items
appropriate for your system. The link to the self-extracting archive for SQL
Compact 3.5 SP2 is located at:

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5783

Run this exe and have it extract to some place where you'll be able to find
it easily, because that's the next step to browse to the location you just
extracted to. You'll notice there's three files, install.txt,
SSCERuntime_x86-ENU.msi, and SSCERuntime_x64-ENU.msi. Depending upon whether
you have a 32-bit version of Windows or 64-bit, the install procedure is a
bit different. If you have a 32-bit Windows, then just run
SSCERuntime_x86-ENU.msi. If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, you must
run SSCERuntime_x86-ENU.msi first, then SSCERuntime_x64-ENU.msi. These same
instructions are found in the install.txt file.

If you're not sure whether your Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit, there's a
couple easy ways of finding out. Bring up Windows Explorer to show the list
of files and folders on your computer's c: drive, which is where most people
install Windows. If you have both a program files and a program files (X86)
folder, you have 64-bit Windows. Also check your Windows folder, if you have
a syswow64 subfolder, then you also have a 64-bit version of Windows.
Otherwise, if you only have the one program files folder and no syswow64,
you're running 32-bit Windows.

Once you've installed the SQL Compact 3.5 SP2, try running Entombed 1.05b
again, and let us know if you have any more problems. hth

Hi Shaun,

No, there is no way to automatically split or trim a message to the
write length that I am aware of. To trim a message I just scroll down
a few lines, to the end of the post I am replying to, and do a
shift-control-end to select everything to the end of the message, and
press delete.

For example, since I am only responding to you I went down a few lines
to the beginning of Charles's post, and selected everything to the end
of the message and then deleted it. Now, all we have is roughly a page
or so of text containing your message and my reply to it. If everyone
did that most messages would probably be 5 KB or so at most, because
there would not be these huge messages containing reply after reply in
them.

Cheers!

That last one is really nasty. The first two are happening
because it's trying to tell you you picked up money when you
didn't, or you picked up an item with a name that didn't fully
match the trigger.

[Audyssey] using mush z with alter aeon

2013-02-22 Thread Richard Sherman
Hi,

So a friend and I decided to try alter. We are both running win 7 and the
latest version of mush z. He is using window eyes and NVDA. I have NVDA
also, but prefer to use jaws. His system is 64 bit, mine is 32.

So we got thru the log in screen, but had to use the jaws cursor, or
equivalent, to navigate it. While in the game. there too we had to use the
jaws cursor, or equivalent, to read the output of the game. Plus no sounds
played at any time.

When we logged in the first time, we answered yes to the questions of are
you blind and would you like to enable blind mode. And we are using port
3010.

We both got to the camp at the beginning and stopped there.

So why did we have no sounds?

Is the game not supposed to read the output of the text automatically?

Is there any setting for the screen readers to perform better?

So far, so good. But was hoping to fix these minor issues.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Ok, great. but where do I type in tts and press the control f12 key. I tried
before connecting, while in the log in screen, and after . Still no go and
no confirmation sound when pressing control f12.

Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure why your sounds and speech weren't working by
default, but they should be. With mushz loaded, type: tts to
enable speech, you should here tts on. Then, press control f12,
to enable sounds. You should here a beep, and sounds on.

Re: [Audyssey] using mush z with alter aeon

2013-02-22 Thread Richard Sherman
Hi,

Turns out I needed to add the mushreader.xml file in the plug ins. Then I
had created my own mcl file. Once I used the alteraeon.mcl file, the sounds
started to play. Works just fine now.

Thanks for the assistance.

BTW, for anyone who is going to start playing. Read the readme file on the
main mush z home page. If I had paid attention the first time I skimmed thru
it, I would have not needed to ask my original question since the answers
were right there. Boy do I feel silly for even asking. So save your self and
read the readme file as you go.

Good luck. See you in the game.

You should be able to type tts at any point, if that does nothing
you need to instal the mush reader.xml plugin. Control f12 is
either in lua audio, or intrinsic to mushclient itself, I'm not
sure. If you can send me a list of the plugisn you have
installed, I can let you know if there are any differences I
notice.

[Audyssey] help with alter aeon

2013-02-22 Thread Richard Sherman
Hi,

Wondering a few things:

1. Walked around the camp and found the dump. Wanted to pick up a pair of
boots. In this case, there was I think 4 different pair of boots lying on
the ground. When I use the command take boots, or get boots, it picks up the
pair I didn't want. If I type in take studded boots, it doesn't seem to work
like it should.

In this case, how is the best way to pick up something that has multiple
like items you can grab?

2. How does one view, or review, what clothing, armor, or weapon one is
holding or wearing? I can take it off but that seems a long way to do it.

3. Got 3 rings. Two appear to be very similar. I tried using the compare
command. But how do I compare properly? For instance, I had the 2 similar
rings on and it would only compare those 2 rings. I took one off and tried
again but it still compared those 2 rings and not the third ring.

4. How does one communicate with other players? Will double check readme,
but don't remember seeing it. Only how to change channels.

5. Will the game automatically equip me with the best stuff I am holding?
For instance, let's say I have 2 pair of boots in my inventory. If I say
wear boots, will it put on the best one's for me.

Thanks for your patience and assistance.

Re: [Audyssey] huge Swamp bug.

2013-02-20 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

Aprone would be the firsts one to apologize for the readme file for not
being up to date. Instead of updating it all the time, he put notes in the
change log text file. In there will be notes on when he added those keys in.
Give it a good read. Some interesting items in there you might not know.

As far as configuration files. The progress.ini file file includes such info
as your name and password, what screen reader you have it set to, and
whether you agreed to the user agreement. This file should not be modified.
If you try you may break the game, or worse get caught for cheating and
therefore get banned. Not a good thing.

the keyconfig.ini file is what keeps track of what key does what. Open it in
notepad and give it a look. There you can change any key to another, but
never change the order of the items in the list. Otherwise it won't work
properly.

As already mentioned, there are 3 keys for footsteps. One for yours, one for
other players, and one for zombies. Simon said he has his set to 140%. I
suggest you do not do that because then you will think they are closer than
they are and you will waste ammo . I only increase zombie footsteps for
shooting at them long range, and then put it back to 100%. The higher the
percentage the louder it should be. Press shift and the same key to lower
it. Just a suggestion.

I have a really nice modified keyconfig.ini file if anyone wants it.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/13968355/keyconfig.zip

The file is really not zipped. just remove the zip off the end and put in
.ini instead.

What is nice about it is I have moved all beacons to the F keys. And most
others do not require the shift or control key

If you need help, look me up in the game. Always glad to help. You can also
drop me a line if you need help.

Also there is the audio games thread on swamp:

http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=6341p=277

This is the last page of the thread. You can get help there or follow what
is going on.

Later tater.

Hello,
First I'd like to point out that I'm a totally new player as of today. SO
perhaps this bug has been mentioned previously. Basically I found some keys
not mentioned in the documentation. They allow you to raise and lower player
footstep volume, as well as zombies volume level. The problem is when I try
messing around with player footstep volume, all movement sound is completely
stopped. In fact, I'm not even sure if I'm moving. Has anyone experienced
this? I haven't played multiplayer btw, only default offline map. Only way
to fix this issue appears to be to remove my config file, which won't be fun
once I get into missions. lol

Hi Curt,

I took the old beta down primarily because I have been hoping to release a
new version for the last few months but due to health issues, technical
issues, and simply a lack of time I haven't managed to get the new beta
completed and ready for download. If there is enough demand for it I can put
the old beta back up, but I really don't want to do that because I don't
want to get bug reports and suggestions based on a version more than a year
out of date. :D

Not quite sure where you are... 6-2 or 6-3? If it's 6-3, you'll have a piece

Re: [Audyssey] swamp and road to rage dropbox

2012-12-20 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

Here is the situation with drop box and the road to rage folder.

About a month or so ago, there was a couple of files added to the road to
rage folder. They talked about how the rtr folder was going away. the files
and such would be taken to a proper forum and out of drop box. One of the
files gave the URL for everything. Unfortunately I do not have the URL.

So after reading your message, I checked. I too was sharing that folder. And
it too is gone from my drop box.

so you weren't hacked. The owner of that folder warned everyone it was going
away, and it did.

If I find the URL for where everything got moved to, I will post it.
Hopefully some one else has it and can post it.

HTH.

And in fact when I booted dropbox up, both folders removed themselves.
No reason why I was kicked/ banned/ left though.
as far as I know I have not posted anything untoward and nothing has
appeared in email spam or anything, I have not checked what I sent
yesterday, but I need ot know what happened to the folders if they just
went.
I have all the maps and to be honest I don't really play them at all
that much but I was just wandering.
My reason is this.
someone from an rr.com server and the us tried to hack my gmail yesterday.
He didn't get in, and probably didn't get passed my password which I
have now changed.
yet gmail warned me about the potentual hack.
As far as I know no viruses are on my system nore has anything
changed in email, dropbox or other things.
I am wandering what has happened.
And am slightly miffed that I was just kicked for no reason.
If I have done something please tell me because its not showing up here.
If someone just kicked me because they will be flamed and I don't
care how or where I do it or I get banned from all lists either.
I doubt it was malicious and am going to check my outgoing to make
sure I am not comprimised but still.

Re: [Audyssey] Swamp server down.

2012-12-18 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

confirmed. As of this writing both test server and 2.8 servers are down.
According to audio games, the servers went down over night. NO word from
Aprone yet on what is up. But have no fear, it will be back up when, and
only when, it is ready.

To follow this thread on audiogames.net, the URL is

Re: [Audyssey] Swamp server down.

2012-12-18 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

Currently, the main server is running version 2.8. There is a test server
running version 2.9. Anything you do on one does not reflect on the other.
But when it is all said and done, the test server and everything will go
way. The test server is just that, for testing new things and ideas for the
next version. So what you do on 2.8 is what counts and may or may not carry
forward to the next version.

As for weather causing the servers to be down I don't think so. NO bad
weather that I know about in his area. Plus his skype is still up. So me
thinks he is doing some major rewriting or something that required him to
bring the servers down.

I can wait.

Re: [Audyssey] Entombed

2012-11-24 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

The link for version 1.05 is

http://www.blind-games.com/newentombed/EntombedSetup.exe

Your normal login information does not change. So use what you did before.

As Thomas mentioned, the version on the link he gave is 1.02. And the latest
build of that was 1.02K. Grab the one on the site that says version I, which
is actually version J. Then grab the patch to upgrade to version K.

The version 1.05 has a few bug fixes in it, but has a slight difficulty
installing on windows 7. If you encounter those, just write back for help.

good luck.

Re: [Audyssey] Swamp

2012-11-16 Thread Richard Sherman
Hi,

I noticed by your 2nd message you are say you are using 64 bit windows. Try
this:

1. Run the win64.bat file. but first use the applications menu to run it as
administrator. Even if you are logged in as this, you must still do this
step.

2. If running the batch file does not work, then please read the read me
text file in the swamp directory. This will instruct you on how to register
the necessary files manually. Be sure to open the command prompt using the
above described method of running the command prompt as administrator.

3. If you register the files manually, you might as well do all 3 of them at
the same time. Will probably save you work in the long run.
If you do not run the batch file, or command prompt, as administrator, the
files cannot be registered properly.

Keep in mind this is a one time thing. All Aprone's games will then run
properly in the future.

Good luck. Welcome to the game.

Re: [Audyssey] I have a question about swamp.

2012-11-07 Thread Richard Sherman
Hi Angel,

You need to extract all the files from the zipped file. Then the game will
use the swamp.exe file to launch the game. The nice thing is that it runs
solely from that directory. So you can put it anywhere on your system you
like. Also, if you don't like the sounds, you can always modify them as you
desire.

For anyone who wants to follow the thread on audiogames.net, the URL for
swamp is

http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=6341p=225

This brings you to the last page of it. You can always change the last few

Re: [Audyssey] swamp, possible new recording/review

2012-11-06 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,
I say go for it. There are a few of these out there, but not as
comprehensive as what you are describing. Most just show from a map 1 newbee
perspective.
Suggestions:

For map 1, look at it from a newbee's perspective. Give as much detailed
info as necessary. going over how to use the radar, coordinate system,
navigating buildings, and the quest system are some things to consider
touching upon. Also how the leveling up and point allocation system works
too.

for map 2, give it from an intermediate perspective Give only the tips and
treks pertaining to map 2 that most might not know. Maybe a brief discussion
about sub maps here might be good.

for map 3, make it from a advanced perspective. Again, only those tips and
treks some might not know for map 3.

Maybe for missions a brief overview. Good patterns of looking, and what to
do or avoid might be good.

One other thing to mention in your podcast is the use of custom maps.
Practice there is quite useful. Practice makes better.

something to think about might be to wait for the next version before doing
this. but if you do it now, good luck.

Hi all,
It's been a while since I've done any serious swamp recordings, so I thought
I'd throw this out for debate. I'm thinking of doing an overview of all the
various aspects of the game. I'd show each of the maps, and do one of each
type of warehouse mission. I may or may not do the sniper or lms, it would
depend on how long my recording is going. While I wouldn't be aiming for a
walkthrough, I probably would explain a lot of what I'm doing, and in the
case of the maps, I'd run through some hints and tips for each. Is there
anything in particular you would like to me to detail? Any particular
strategy you want me to offer an opinion on, etc. That being said, I'm not
at a point yet where I want to do this recording. I've still got some stuff
I want to run before I take on a job like this. Once I get all the stuff I
need, and if anybody feels like this would be useful and/or interesting,
I'll do the recording. The absolute earliest I'd be able to get it done
would be this weekend, providing my schedule will cooperate.

Re: [Audyssey] I have a question about swamp.

2012-11-06 Thread Richard Sherman
HI Angel,

When you extract the files, they should be all in 1 folder. The game runs
from that folder, no installation necessary. the only thing you might have
to do is register some files if you are running vista or windows 7. If this
is the case, please read the readme.txt file to register those necessary
files.

In that directory is a swamp.exe file. Hit enter on it and enter your user
name, password, and agree to the user agreement. Hit enter on multiplayer
and see if it runs. If so, it will say connected and this day is sponsored
by some person.

Couple of Things to note:

1. When the game starts, it will be set to use sapi for your tts. You can
change this if you wish.

2. After the game starts, it will create three more files in that directory,
progress.ini, keyconfig.ini, and chatlog.txt. the progress file is to store
your stats and settings. The keyconfig.ini file is for your keyboard
settings. you can modify this as you wish to suit your needs. And the chat
log is a text file of your chat messages. Messages sent by you and any other
person are stored here for future use if necessary.

3. Please read the changelog.txt file. it will give you some helpful hints.

4. Remember to use custom maps if you need to explore or try some things.
This way you can experiment with out getting killed and loosing all your
stuff.

5. have fun. And remember to ask for help if necessary. Most people there
are glad to help newbee's.

Good luck.

who talks about among other things upcoming ideas he has for swamp. A well
worth it listen to.

HI,

Scott, if you want your original character back, just ask Aprone. Because of
the how many people are joining swamp, he has to delete old characters that
sit idle for more than a month or two. but he did say, I think, he keeps
backups of these, so He can restore your character if you wish.

Lori, great podcast. My only suggestion is with game play. Try using

Re: [Audyssey] swamp: mission thoughts

2012-10-21 Thread Richard Sherman
Hi,

It sounds like you are asking for different missions, but that take longer
and with more of a story line then correct?

Because currently the missions can go either quite quickly or relatively
long. it just depends on how many you have join, and how good those people
are. I have heard of last man standing missions lasting well over a half
hour. also missions into warehouse 4 can take well over an hour.

I do agree more missions with different styles than just collecting crates
would be great. But I don't have any suggestions. But if you do, throw
Aprone a message with the suggestion and as much detail as you can.

Also, there is a swamp folder being shared thru drop box. It has in it 4
maps you can play in off line mode. Sorry none of them have been
incorporated into multiplayer. But it does give you something else to try.

Or you can always create your own map and send it to aprone with your ideas
and suggestions.

Plus keep in mind a new version should be on the way soon. So it may just
contain some of your ideas in it. give it a look when it comes out and go
from there.

HTH.

I'm finally getting back into swamp a bit, and more and more I'm wishing we
had longer missions. Not that we'd have to find more crates, but that there
was some kind of mission that would take over half an hour to do instead of
five to ten minutes. I'm not sure how this would work; 150 crates isn't
quite what I had in mind, but overall I'd like to see something longer,
perhaps with more of a story.

Any thoughts?

Re: [Audyssey] swamp: mission thoughts

HI,

Hadn't checked the fourm lately? you may have missed some things. Check it
out. The thread URL is

http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=6341p=220

This is the last page of the discussion.

Aprone has mentioned a bit, mostly in the game, that a new version was on
the way. As far as I know it deals mostly with security and connection
issues. but rumors abound that it may include new weapons and missions. the
hard core player mode has been slated for a release in the future for now.

as always, Aprone for the most part has been tight lipped about what and
when. Personally, I don't care when, it will get here when it does.

and if you missed it on the audio games forum, he has been putting out
little missions mostly with dires attacking certain portions of maps. We all
come running and put them dires 6 feet under. The nice thing about these
attacks is that some times it may be possible to get extra items not
normally found. These may include running shoes, shorts, and bunny slippers.

BTW, for anyone reading this who does not read the audio games forum topic
regarding swamp. today is swamp's 1st birthday. Woo Hoo.

Re: [Audyssey] iPhone Audio Games Extant question

2012-10-12 Thread Richard (AudioGames.net)

Hi guys,

Thanks for your input, much appreciated! Extant was developed using a
tool called Unity - http://http://unity3d.com/ - which allows us to
quite easily and cheaply port the game to a multitude of platforms (PC,
MAC, iPhone, Android, browser, Steam, Wii, Xbox, Playstation). The only
real hassle is that we need to take into account certain platform
specifics such as memory, processor speed, screen sizes (jep, even with
audio games ;-) and input controls (mouse, keyboard, controller, touch
input, etc.). We are already experimenting with this with our (video)
game Gluddle - http://gluddle.com - that's currently on sale in the App
Store and free to play online on Kongregate.com and hopefully soon on
Android too. It has allowed us to find many of the pitfalls common to
multiplatform development.

Our personal wish is to design a single version of Extant for all
platforms. However, the PC/MAC versions are probably the most easy to
design for because of the platform specifics mentioned above. For
instance, the audio in the current version of Extant on iPhone tends to
tick/distort/stall sometimes because of memory issues. We'll let you
guys know when the new Extant follow-up project is initiated. If you
have any input or wishes for its gameplay don't hesitate to share them
here on Audyssey, through the AudioGames.net forum or via email! We're
currently busy with promoting Gluddle but you could really help us out
spread the word to friends and family, that way the sooner we can get
back at developing Extant :-)

Have a great day!

On a basic level I was impressed. Some of the gestures I found more difficult
than others, for instance the three finger swipes I didn't quite get the kknack
of, but others were quite natural and I suspect I'd get more used to it in
time. The functions of the phone seemed fairly doable too, indeed for kicks I
tried searching the ap store for king of dragon pass, managed to find it and
read the game details, (I didn't play it because obviously the chap who's
phone I was examining didn't necessarily want the game), though sinse it's
games and gamebooks I'm mostly interested in on the Iphone, I was pleased that
was doable.

the internet I found a little more problematic, I tried searching for
audiogames.net, and had a bit of trouble navigating google correctly.

I also got a play with seri which seems a usefull system, though I was
disappointed when i was testing it's speech recognition that though it did!
know the word dalek, it didn't recognize cyberman and read it as spiderman! :D.

I also asked about commands to flick voice over on and off, lock the phone for
making phone calls etc, and all of that seemed doable.

The only thing I didn't like the sound of is the fact that I can't just copy my
music and audio books onto the phone, sinse one reason I wanted one was to
serve as an effective music and audio player, but apparently apple objects to
this so it requires silly itunes, which i'm obviously going to have to
investigate. That is the one downer I found, indeed I might considder just
buying an mp3 player separately to do that job if Itunes isn't going to behave.

Voice over did look fun though, and I'd actually love to see some audio games
that make full use of screen position in this way, for instance I can imagine
playing a stratogy battle game could be far easier with a touch screen sinse
you could get physical positional information about the various units relative
locations and the map, similarly to reading soemthing in braille but with the
information being conveyed by audio.

I'm now of course going to have to check out A, Itunes, and B, pricing, sinse
an Iphone 5 would be very expensive in the region of about 500 quid
apparently, and I'll C, check whether my current phone contract supports the
Iphone and has enough internet to make things work, (thus far I've not used
net so haven't got a very net heavy mobile phone contract, though it is a cheap
one and comes with a lot of free minutes).

it does however look like a workable solution and a lot of fun, indeed sinse if
everything goes as planned next year I should be studdying voice in Bermingham
conservatoire, I would be doing a lot of commuting on trains, and it'd be
usefull to have something small and portable.

Previously I've used my laptop, but the battery here is pretty dead, and i
would! like to try a lot of the iphone games, and more especially gamebooks.

Beware the grue!

Dark.

Re: [Audyssey] Can't get swamp running under windows 7 64 bit.

2012-10-05 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

Let's see.

the batch file says to copy all 3 files to the syswow64 folder. did you do
that?

then it makes sure you are in that folder to register the files. did you
make sure the syntax is correct?

After each one, did you hear the system say the file has been registered
properly?

Try the procedure again.

If it doesn't work. write back or email Aprone directly for assistance. I do
know one other person who had trouble. They too had to register the files
again to get them to take.

good luck.

One done by valiant. it is fairly old, probably version 1.5 or so, but still
has some good stuff in it.

One done by harp. probably done about version 2.4 or so.

One done by Drew. Probably the most recent one done about version 2.6 or so.

Good luck. need any help in the game, just ask me or anyone.

In the swamp folder are 2 batch files. They are Windows32bit.bat and
Windows64bit.bat files. just run which ever one is appropriate for your

Good luck.

after checking my pc it looks like I have direct x 11, is this ok? Or do I
still need to install direct x 7? If the direct x 11 I have installed is ok
I will follow the other instructions about command prompt etc., although I
have never used command prompt before do I need to move anywhere in this
before I start typing or will it take me straight to the box I need to type
in its just I've gone there to take a look and jaws doesn't announce an
edit box and tabbing doesn't seem to take me to one either just different

You might have to select the batch file and choose the option Run as

administrator and running it, many people think that is what it is and
don't realize that it won't work.

Re: [Audyssey] entoomed final boss

2012-09-16 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,
 You could try the following:

1. Take out the blue crystal first. This way it cannot summon the bones of
her or bring back any other crystal. After that, take out the other 2
crystals in what ever way you wish. Most take out the red next.

2. Try the following spells:

confusion
curse
silence
slow

3. Try to poison or get her to have zombie rot.

4. Grapple or web scrolls work nicely if you have an assassin. Even if you
don't, they still work nicely.

5. Try to take her out before she transforms. After that if she can focus
she can do some serious damage.

6. Probably the best way to take her out is to focus on the head.

Good luck.

Re: [Audyssey] Jim Kitchen's games and Win7?

2012-09-13 Thread Richard Sherman
HI,

Thanks for expanding on my thought there. I meant no disrespect to any other
programmer who currently uses VB6. Just those 2 games which are one of the
few multiplayer ones out there came to mind and used them as an example.

I take my hat off to all the programmers out there. I am old school, Cobol,
Fortran, basic, rpg, and a few other now dead languages, are what I cut my
teeth on many years ago. Got my associates in computer science but got
burned out and never got back into programming. It is those of you who now
pave the way for great games for me to play with that I salute you.

Should have also said that even in the future, emulators and such will
probably keep VB6 around for some time. just like those types of things keep
dos and some really old, even arcade games, still around.

Seems like where there is a will, there is a way.

Hi Richard.
I really hope that we will be able to play all the VB6 games for many
years to come, as many of my favorite games are written in vb6. Not
only Jim's kitchensinc games and the games you mentioned are vb6, but
also GMA games, bsc, LWorks, and many other games. I can actually
think of more good vb6 games than non vb6 games.

The reality is that VB6 is an old technology. And old technologies
sooner or later become so hard to use that people will stop playing
those games. for now things are still working fine, but we as a
community need to find a sustainable way to make the vb6 games work,
so they are not lost to us.

This has nothing to do with putting down of programming languages etc
and everything to do with keeping the games I like around as long as
possible.

I feel as a fellow programmer the least I can do to pay tribute to the
creative sols that made all these games that I love so much is find a
way to make them playable for as long as possible. I know it's
terribly altruistic of me, but for now it's the only solution I can
see.

Added to that, I do have a degree in computer science, so this is
squarely inside my domain. After all, games got me interested in
programming in the first place.
